This guy is a crook. DON"T USE THIS COMPANY! We had an AC unit replaced by Top Notch. 18 month later, it stopped working. The unit should have been under warranty but Top Notch owner insisted that another company had worked on the unit when in fact they hadn't. He came to this conclusion because there were footprints around the unit and they weren't his. This, he claimed, invalidated the warranty and said we would need another brand new unit. We ended up having another company install the unit.
Description of Work: Air conditioning unit replaced.

Top Notch was hired by Larry Chapman Builders/Construction for a remodel in 2013 or 2014. TopNotch unit has failed. They mismatched the equipment inside unit which is a small unit with the outside. They installed a 62 piston and should have been a 70. The inside unit was in poor condition. Larry Chapman Builders was in charge of the project. We had to get another company to replace the unit. We actually went to Lewes to find this company and they moved. Word of mouth from a local business said” Good Luck” in dealing with Top Notch. Buyer Beware!!!!! They installed a Nordyne system with a Goodman outside unit.

On June 16, 2015, I purchased a brand new Goodman 410A, 4 Ton, 15KW, Heat Pump and Air Handler with a 10 year warranty and 2 year service contract, at a cost of $7,480.00. The system worked fine during the summer months with air conditioning. However, as soon as the weather turned cold, upon turning on the heat, the system produced only cold air. I contacted Top Notch HVAC on Sunday, 10/18/2015, left message of heating system not functioning properly(no heat and outside temp. 33 degrees). On Monday, 10/19/2015, received a call from Top Notch HVAC stating that a service tech would be out to check on heating problem. Service tech comes out, evaluates system and states that system needs a new control board. Service tech also switched system to heat only and stated that I'll have heat while new parts arrive. Now during this time, the temperature that I would set on the thermostat was not the temperature that was being maintained inside the house. For example, I would set the thermostat at 65 degrees at night and if the outside temperature dropped below 45 degrees, the system would maintain an inside temperature of 56 degrees. On 11/19/2015, service tech came out and installed a new control board, evaluated system and stated everything was OK. I also advised service tech that heating system was not maintaining the desired in temperature that was being set. Service tech stated that he would check the outside compressor, came back inside and stated again that everything is OK. From 11/20/2015 to 11/22/2015, the outside temperature was fluctuating between 33 to 38 degrees at nite. Again, on Sun. 11/22/2015, called Top Notch HVAC, left message to have someone call me in the AM Monday, 11/23/2015. On Monday, 11/23/2015, received a call from the owner of Top Notch HVAC, Robert Willin, stated that I should turn on emergency heat and he will be out on Tues., 11/24/2015(Now, mind you when emergency heat is turned on, your electric bill sky rockets). Owner came out and evaluated system and stated that I needed two new thermostats(2 zone system) and that he would order them. On Tues., 12/1/2015, I contacted Top Notch HVAC to check on thermostats. Was advised that a service tech would be out on Thurs. 12/3/2015 to install thermostats between 800AM and 300PM. I contacted Top Notch HVAC late that afternoon, spoke to Lynn, Service Mgr., she stated they would have to reschedule until tomorrow, Fri., 12/4/2015. Advised Lynn of issues with heating system and she assured me that my problems would be resolved. On Fri., 12/4/2015, I received a call from, Joannie, Top Notch HVAC, stating that they would have to reschedule. From 10/18/2015 to 12/4/2015, I have been patiently waiting for Top Notch HVAC to repair, resolve, fix, and uphold there contract and equipment installed. This problem has caused me a tremendous amount of inconvenience as I have business out of town to complete and afraid if when I leave and set my thermostat to a desired temperature, my heating system will not maintain the desired indoor temperature!!!! Still Waiting!!!!
Description of Work: Installed new Goodman 4 Ton Heat Pump and Air Handler, & 2 Thermostats on 6/16/2015 with a ten(10) year warranty and two(2) year service contract.

CALLED ON DUTY REP AND WAS TOLD HE WOULD NOT RESPOND AS HE HAD SOMETHING PERSONAL TO DO. SO CALL OFFICE IN MORNING.TALKED TO OWNER NEXT DAY AND HE WAS EQUALLY NON-PROFESSIONAL NOR RESPONSIVE. I WILL NEVER HAVE THEM IN MY HOUSE AGAIN.

All the appliances that we had purchased in the last ten years started giving trouble in just three years after purchase. So I told them to give me my money back. I purchased the air-conditioning unit for twelve hundred dollars, and that is a lot of money. When we tried to resell the appliances to the builder, because it was fairly new; the builder never responded and so now we are stuck with it, whatever goes wrong with it, I have to deal with that. Then a man comes from top notch and told me that at present they had installed the system to make this thing work better and that the previous people did it all wrong. So he was just trying to make more money out of us, but we never did anything. But we have not used them since then. Yes, he did a very good job. But basically, everything that the builder installed in this house was garbage, we also had water problems. We had a water heater that did not last us for more than a year, then we had to go back to the Yellow Pages and find somebody to come here and replace the water heater. They were lousy builders. Then we went on and used a tank-less water heater instead of putting that humongous 80 gallons capacity thing. So we replaced it with the tank-less water heater. But the company that we had used originally, were scammers, and the guy who owned that place is in jail right now. He had come, and he took five hundred dollars from me telling that he was going to do some maintenance, and needed the advance; that he was going to do this and that. Later, I kept calling him, and he never answered the phone. Finally, the attorney general's office called me and said that this guy had been scamming a lot of people. Now, I want my money back. I went for top-notch because they were cheaper than the other people in the Yellow Pages. But they were expensive on the service calls.
Description of Work: We used Top Notch Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigerat. He was very good; I mean you know the nice thing was they came in and installed it, and I paid them on time. He came in when our air-conditioning unit went completely down, and it was in summer and just when we needed them, so they came in and replaced the unit.
