Boyd's Custom Remodeling Inc

After getting competition on the project, we selected Boyd's Custom Remodeling, Inc., although slightly more expensive, we had heard good things about the company. Kevin from Boyd's Custom Remodeling Inc., indicated he would call us the morning of the appointment to tell us what time they would be arriving. Promptly at 7:30 AM we received a telephone call indicating they would arrive between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. Three men arrived at 10:20 and promptly went to work to correct the problem. It was determined that the pipe collars were in tact and only the gaskets needed to be replaced, which they promptly took care of. Kevin inspected the roof to see if there were any other problems to which he reported that the roof looked like it was in good shape. The area was clean of construction debris when they left. .

Mr. Boyd provided an exstimate within 24 hours of my contacting him and the work was completed 2 days later. He clearly explained what needed to be done now and in the future to complete the basement. I checked with a home owners in my neighborhood whom he had done similar work for and Mr. Boyd was highly recommended. They arrived within 1 hour of the estimated start time and completed the job within a reasonable amount of time. Boyd's did an excellent job on building the wall and door way, most importantly, he explained exactly what he was doing and why to avoid additional cost for future work to be done. I believe he was honest in the information given, considering we had been told the same things from previous contractors/friends in the business.

Boyd's started to bring materials for the job to store in my home, from the beginning of the job til the end Boyd's and his staff were very unprofessional. His employees were more like his "boys" as he referred to them instead of employees. He was never on time, we never knew when he was coming, what days or what time. He constantly talked, & his conversations were always inappropriate. He would talk about strip clubs & even asked if I wanted to go with him & his "boys". One of his workers asked me "do I know where to get the weed at?'. He explain to me he bought all his materials at auctions to keep the price down. The first estimate he gave me was like double so my family & I decided to do some of the work such as painting & carpet ourselves. He later on went to tell me he was trying to "work me" when it came to the first estimate. He wanted me to pay extra for a faucet for the front of the garage. this faucet was not supposed to freeze in the winter time. But it froze. He went on to say that was our fault because we should have turned the main water off. When he did the plumbing he left a pipe running across the entire length of the wall, exposed. I told him I was not happy with the pipe being exposed, he told me I could paint it to the the color of the wall! I was not happy with that response at all so I contacted the City of Dover & they sent out a inspector who said the pipe could not be left exposed on the wall. the inspector made Boyd's cover the pipe with a knee wall. After I called the City on Boyd's he became very irrate & just plain nasty. His wife Gina left a messages on my voicemail talking about how she was going to sue & put a lien on my home! The HVAC unit Boyd's installed started to leak water into my home, so I called him, he showed up 2 days later. He stated that was also my fault because there was left over siding that was left on the side of the house was laying on the water hose. But he was responsible for the clean up. He was supposed to remove all trash but instead he left it here. Every time I tried to speak with Mr Boyd about my dissatisfaction he would become angry and he would sometimes say no one is going to convert a garage over for what I charged you or Im doing a payment plan no one does payment plans. He let me know he had another customer who was doing a payment plan and sent me to her home to look at her garage she had converted into a room she was using as a hair salon. He then went on to tell me she was behind on her payments, as well as her financial problems she was having.He also told me all his work comes with a warranty. He told me my payments were behind & when they become current I would get my warranty. Still to this date I have no warranty! Now he says his company does not give a written warranty but they stand by their work! So when he came to look at the faucet that broke that he installed, he stated it was not under warranty! & I would have to pay him to fix it!! Needless to say Boyd's Custom Remodeling is totally unprofessional. When they got word that I was rating their business on Angie's List they called their local police station and said I was harassing them and I was putting comments about them on the internet! They basically are upset that I am telling the truth about my experience with their company!
