Description of Work: Replaced front porch post, railings and hand rail.

Description of Work: Yencer Builders completed a 350 square ft addition (based on main floor area) and remodel of my mother's home. The work consisted of: demolition of an existing bedroom and deck; addition of a new bathroom; addition of a new bedroom with a walk-in closet; expansion of the kitchen area with partial remodel of kitchen; addition of a craft area with a pantry and a laundry closet; and addition of a new back porch. The addition was built over a new conditioned crawl space and the existing roofline was extended such that there is additional unconditioned attic space as well. The exterior aluminum siding was matched, as were the new roof shingles. Oak hardwood floors were installed throughout the addition except for the bathroom, in which vinyl flooring was installed. In the kitchen, a new peninsula was added (with custom cabinets below - built by Yencer to match existing cabinetry) and the existing laminate countertop was replaced with Corian and a new stainless steel sink. A new vent hood and ducting was installed over the range/oven. Existing flooring in the kitchen was replaced with oak. Recessed lighting was installed in the kitchen and craft area. Viwinco vinyl windows were installed throughout. The new back porch was constructed of maintenance-free composite (Azek) and vinyl post sleeves. All of the work done was beautiful and the construction area was cleaned up on a daily basis. We started working with Kevin Yencer the year before to scope out the project. He and the rest of the Yencer crew came highly recommended by my sister and brother-in-law, who had a bathroom remodeled by Yencer Builders. I live in California and was a little worried about trying to manage a project from across the country, but Kevin made it unbelievably easy! He was so responsive (almost all of our communication was via email and I always received a response within a day - most times in the same day,and many times within minutes!) This was true for all phases of the project, from inception through completion. Kevin always had good ideas and suggestions and was very patient with all of my changes. He was very clear about the costs involved and there were no surprises. He was also very happy to work with us on change orders and was very good with documentation. I believe that Yencer's pricing of the the project was fair and reasonable based on reviews of the plans by my architect and by a contractor-friend, as well as a review by a contractor in Delaware. As far as the actual construction went, we could not have been happier with the work crews. Everyone was hardworking, professional, skillful, diligent, respectful, and friendly - Yencer employees and the subcontractors as well. Wayne, who was the foreman on the job, was amazing, and I can't thank him enough for doing everything within his power to make the remodel easy on my mother (she lived there during the entire process). Steve Yencer, who handled much of the finish work was also fantastic and very thorough and resourceful. Construction took roughly 3 months, which was within the timing we expected. All of the work was done beautifully and skillfully. All in all, a very positive experience! I wholeheartedly recommend Yencer Builders and would not hesitate to do business with them again in the future. They are a great family business!
