In regard to my living room ceiling being sheet rocked, He did it and it looked okay but it took FOR EVER. He would show up late, around 2, after telling me he would be there at "the same time" which was around 10. 2 separate occasions no one ever showed up even when I was told someone would. I had to buy and match a quart of paint to fix the trim that his painter had screwed up. The older painter even broke my guitar string and said he would replace them but was no where to be found when Fred tried to call. The paint in my living room is okay, some on my ceiling. The ceiling however, cracked after 3 weeks, a good 6 feet. I sent a picture to him and got no response. I texted about my toilet leaking and was told that the wax seal settled and I need to tighten the bolts. Then I asked again about the ceiling and once again, nothing. It is still cracked and not fixed. I noticed this after he came and fixed a very small part of my bathroom.....
Oh the bathroom....My master bath is awful. I picked out the tile which he got as requested. He completed the work which took for ever. I even let him have my house alone for 5 days while I went out of town and he said it would be finished when I returned. It was not finished. Him and is step son came the next night and finished it and left at 930 at night. At that point, in the dark it looked okay. Not in the light. The tile is very sharp on the edges and not laid evenly and looks very crooked and unlevel in many spots. The grout cracked in between almost all of the floor tile, along the bottom of the tub and shower. There is grout on my walls and piled in the corners. There is calk smeared on my walls, mismatching base boards with nail holes all over and not flush with the floor and there is calk in between the wall and floor board because it was cut too short. One tile even pops every time I step on it. Grout was coming up in chunks along the tub and edge of door. I called him and he finally came out with 5 people and took some of the grout up around the tub and caulked the edges. He caulked the edges around the tub and shower. He also "fixed" ONE of the tiny cracks in the grout and now the grout is mismatched and looks dirty and wet. I communicated very bluntly that I was not happy with the job and it was sloppy. His reply was that his bathroom looks similar too. Oh, the paint is awful. Spots are not painted on my wall and the trim is completely messed up and very obvious. He admitted that! One spot was not painted under the vanity and I said that I would take care of that. When he fixed the small part of my bathroom he left saying that he would come back to paint. He said that he wanted me to pick up a quart of paint so he could come back and fix it. Fred did not get a hold of me for two weeks so I contacted him. He said he would set up a time to come on a tuesday and that was the last time I heard from him. All I want is a nice bathroom and a good ceiling. He also told me that he underestimated the square footage of my bathroom and that the price was $1000 short and that it was his mistake. I would not recommend him as his scheduling is not reliable and his tile work is sloppy to say the lest. It has taken me a while to write this review but I cant stew on it anymore. I am NOT happy with the job but I dont want to hurt him as a person. All of this was known to him. It was all communicated. I have received estimates on the cost of the repair.
I want my bathroom touched up to my standard and my ceiling fixed. That is all.
I went to the courthouse to see what I could do on Friday. I went to the wrong court but they recommended I go home, get my documents and call the police to start a report. When I got home, he was there. I went down to the basement to inspect his previous work and found that there were still bubbles and damage to the drywall. I showed it to him and he assured me he would fix it. I questioned him about what he had been doing when he'd been there and his step son interrupted and was very confrontational. The step son told me that they could walk off the job and I'd have to take them to court. I went outside and called the police. The police gave me information to take them to court.
The service provider went to pack up their things. I asked to make sure they weren't going to finish the job, he actually told me they would finish. He texted me after leaving saying that he wasn't gong to do any more work or communicate with me any longer.
"In response to [member name removed] complaint, she claims she paid me up front. This is only partially true as the full contract amount was for $27,645.55 of which $20,000.00 was paid up front. The materials weren’t ordered immediately. I did not want to receive them prior to the start of that portion of the project. They would have been in the house and I would have had to work around them. The cabinets did get ordered as the job progressed, and two weeks into the order placement they were cancelled because she had fired me. [member name removed] wanted her upstairs drywall repaired and the entire upstairs painted which was not part of the original contract. She and I discussed the fact that the old baseboards were still in good shape. She suggested rather than replacing the baseboards I could paint the entire upstairs and any additional painting she might want with that money and the existing baseboards would be installed. The floors weren’t ordered because she changed her mind on what she wanted. I did not make any changes to her contract as she claims but rather she was requesting changes. She wasn’t charged anything additional. We had discussed a possible increase if she were to change the flooring in the bathroom to ceramic tile. The increase would be due to additional materials required as well as more labor intensive to install. On the day that she had fire me, (prior to firing) we had an appointment to meet at Home Depot to look at flooring for the bathroom. She brought a man with her that I had never met before. The man walked into the employee break room and started getting loud with an employee. The employee explained that the room was for employees and asked him to leave. The man that she brought became irate and got up in the employees face. We spent approximately two hours there and upon her friends prompting she fired me. I immediately called the man that I had working at her house and told him to stop painting and pack up that we had been fired. After this incident she continue to text me asking me to come back. She did ask for a refund of monies paid to which I did say, “we would talk about later”. I went back to her house to complete the punch list. All three of the floors were completed to with 90% with regards to drywall, painting and painting of trim and doors. I returned to the job after we had talked to complete the punch list, not the drywall as she stated. When I told her I would look into any refund possibly due her, she became irate saying she wanted $12,000.00 back. She became difficult to work with as my final draw came near. She constantly badgered me and even said, “people like you should know their place”. Upon review of the contract and what had been completed, I did not owe her any money. Outside of the contract, I had also done a roof repair which we had agreed upon for $500.00. She said she would have to pay me May 1st, because she did not have the money then. I agreed but May came and went and she never paid me. She kept saying that the insurance company had a problem with me and so I contacted them directly. The woman I spoke with said that they had no complaints with me but rather they had an issue with [member name removed]. She informed me that they were investigating her claim. She did contact the police on the last day we were there. They showed up and never spoke to us. If she was being harassed as she claims, why wouldn’t we have been asked to leave or even talked to by the officer? In my last communication with her by text, I did say to the affect that I would no longer engage in these texts with her. I told her that I felt I had done everything possible to accommodate her in a timely fashion and that she had done nothing but harass me. I truly tried to work with [member name removed], however, she was most difficult. With regards to her requested resolution, I am sorry that she feels this way but she is not due any refund."
Thanks Fred for doing such a wonderful job on our ceiling!
"THANKS GUYS."
