"Excellent. Patrick was the absolute best! My yard looks amazing and will look even better when the grass fully comes up! Patrick was here every morning as promised and it seemed like he never stopped working until end of day. He turned my nightmare yard into beauty. His prices were quite reasonable and he was always polite and informative if any changes needed to be made. He even came back and monitored the yard for seed replacement if needed. He will also be cutting my lawn when it comes in. I cannot say enough of how wonderful he is and the job that he did. I highly recommend that you hire him for any lawn work you need done."

"Hard to find ANYTHING that went wrong on this project! I dealt with Chad from the initial estimate to the final payment and he was exceptional in every way. After giving me some great creative suggestions about the garden and selection of plants, Chad had his crew in/out in a single day. They completely removed a huge maple tree (stump grinded and roots taken out); removed the original grass and replaced it all with some fantastic looking fescue Sod. Another tree was removed on the side of the house and the garden was installed including 8 plants and decorative river rock accents. Very impressive. At 1 point we had 10 guys doing there thing. They were all very hard working and polite (a plus). They took 2 1/2 hour breaks and each knew exactly their role without having to be micromanaged. They worked very well together. I am confident I got the best job possible at a very reasonable price! Highly recommended vendor. (Ask for Chad if you call them)."

"I can not comment on the product quality because I never placed an order. I will comment on the totally unprofessional and unhinged behavior of the person/people answering the phone. I called on 4/30/20 at 4:49pm to inquire about having 2 yards of soil delivered on 5/2. I spoke with a man (no identification) who told me that he would take my number and call me back tomorrow. I gave him my name and number and hung up the phone. I received a call this morning (5/1/20) at 6:52 am from a female as a follow up. She quoted me 112-116$ for two yards of soil. I asked about what time I can expect the soil to be delivered on 5/2. She told me that it could be any time between 7-1pm. She then started to explain in detail how they process the deliveries at their site, which was ok but too much information. I then asked specifically what type of soil I was being quoted, at which point she told me that she could not tell me because I never told her what it was being used for. I said some was for a flower bed and some would be used for my lawn. She stated that the quote was for screened topsoil because that was the best for my application. At this point I was concerned with the vague nature of her responses and stated that I would have to call her back to schedule the delivery as I thought the price was a bit high and wanted to explore other options. All of sudden a male voice came onto the phone unidentified and started yelling at me about how I don't know what I'm talking about and that I should call "Mr. Mulch", because they'll be sure to get it to me "by Thursday". I attempted to slow this guy down and he then stated "Aren't you the guy who called me after 5 yesterday?" I told him I called just before 5, he told me I was lying. He then asked me what I do for a living. I said "I guess you don't want my business." He told me that he did not need my business, that he had more business than he knows what to do with, and hung up the phone. I am dumbfounded at this behavior. I can't help but assume that the call at 6:52am was punitive for some kind of perceived slight of calling his business after 5pm, even though I clearly did not. It is not acceptable to call a private residence at that time without prior discussion. This person isn't right in the head, and a search of other online reviews bears out a pattern of this type of behavior. This business should be avoided at all costs. I can only imagine what type of response a customer would receive if there was a problem with their delivery. I am thankful that I never got to that point."

"Very professional company, stands behind their work. Helped me figure out a design that worked well with my property and helped with coordinating the brick colors between my walls, fire pit and patio. Considering the amount of work that had to be done, the price was reasonable. Even came back a few times to help with some minor tweaks I needed to make with my lighting and didn't charge extra for those last minute cosmetic changes I decide to make. Used this company prior to my patio to install a fence on about 1/4 acre of property, design and install landscaping around most of property as it was new construction and I didn't even have grass. Here again, bent over backwards to accommodate me changing my mind 1/2 dozen times on the layout and the variety of shrubs, grasses, etc that I was picking out. This work was performed in 2014 and 2015."

Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.
Topsoil should go down first. If the topsoil is next to your house, make sure the grade slopes away from the house to keep water from pooling against your foundation and possibly leaking into your basement or crawl space. Don’t cover your decorative landscape mulch with topsoil as that defeats the purpose of laying down the mulch. If you’re trying to create a certain soil composition to improve plant growth, you’ll likely want compost mixed into the topsoil instead of mulch. Over time, any decorative wood mulch will simply decompose under the topsoil.
No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.
Although it’s not required to lay anything under mulch, it can help to put landscape fabric or plastic weed barrier down and lay mulch on top. The barrier helps keep weeds from growing up through your mulch. It also helps keep rodents and insects from burrowing into the ground underneath.
