I called John's Home Appliance to diagnose a problem with my washing machine. The fabric softener cup was not emptying properly and filling with water. I paid John's Home Appliance a $100 service call fee to look into it. On the first visit, the technician ran my machine, said he could not replicate the problem, cleaned the detergent cup, and told me the machine was running fine. He said to call within 7 days if the problem happened again and he would come back out at no charge. I called a few days later because the problem was still happening. I waited 3 weeks for an appointment. The same service technician came to my home a second time, ran the machine twice, and told me that the machine was running properly. He didn't use any tools while here and made no attempt to do anything more than run the machine. I called the owner to complain and ask for a refund of my $100 service fee since they didn't give me any indication of what is wrong. The owner was very rude on the phone and refuses to refund my service fee even though the technician did nothing more than run the machine. She accuses me of having a "ghost problem". She has told me that she is not God and that her company cannot fix a problem that doesn't exist. I don't know why a customer would call a service technician in twice for a problem that doesn't exist. She has made no attempt to make the situation better and offered me no alternative solution.

I called Johns because my dish washer was not working well (but it was still working) They sent out a tech who after spending 15 minutes tinkering with thing then recommend I purchase a cleaning product and run a cycle, his 15 minutes of tinkering cost me nearly $200. I don't use my dish washer often so when I had a chance to actually run the cycle it turned out his tinkering (or the product he recommended) some how stopped my dish washer from draining all together. When I called back because of this issue, they told me they would have to charge me for another visit to come out and and see what was wrong. I was not happy about this but took it on the chin because in all fairness I shouldn't have waited over a month to make sure is recommendation actually fixed the problem. So i went and scheduled another $200 visit and had to take a day off of work to do so. I asked to be slotted for first thing in the morning in hopes I could salvage the day after the tech was done. Around 1 PM I called and asked where the tech was. I was informed they tried to reach me and since no one picked up they canceled my service. (i had no missed calls). They then said they would send someone later that after noon. At 5pm i called back and was informed that no one would be coming that day. I was understanding and figured I would give them a chance to make things right and asked if they could provide a small discount or some type of special consideration since I not only paid them for a service they did not perform properly but then lost a day of work waiting for a tech that never came. The response was that it was my fault for not answer the call they never made. This is not how your do business. Do not use this company for anything.

Tech came out quickly, diagnosed the problem (I told him what it probably was) and he gave me a price, which was a bit higher than I thought was "reasonable" (at $210). In addition, a replacement plug was needed which was not available and had to be ordered. Took four days so another appointment had to be made since no work was done with the first. All in all, guess I can't complain as I really didn't do a lot of comparison shopping. Tech was pleasant, clean, punctual, personable.
Description of Work: refrigerator had an ice dam and was leaking. Saw a YouTube video on how to repair but didn't have the tools - or inclination - to remove all the freezer compartment parts and do this.

Chris came same day I called for service and was able to repair my leaking refrigerator. He listened to my description of the problem , was able to see the problem and fixed it promptly. Very pleasant and courteous. I am very appreciative of a job well done.

Description of Work: As due diligence I called to see if my stove could be fixed or if it was dead. The repair person (who came the day after I called) pronounced the thing pretty well closing in on dead. Easy.

Not well all. The repairman Phil, said he could not establish the refrigerator was leaking. (We have had the water shut off for the ice, so that could not be the problem) he said he tightened something but couldn't didn't look to be leaking. He checked the ice maker which he said was in perfect working order and was definitely not the problem. He charged us $ 89.95 and asked us to write the check out to the owner of the company instead of the business. Is that even legal? I told him their is a puddle on the flor every day and he saiid he couldn't establish a problem. He said just call if it is a reasonable amount of time and they stand behind their service. Not even an hour later, we had water all over the floor again. I failed to mention in the beginning that we had the refrigerator pulled out from the wall to monitor the water. We ended taking the back off the refrigerator and found the pan was cracked where the screws hold it. That' s pretty basic repair? We tried the ice maker that he said was good with no problems... It made 5 ice cubes. How can you miss the pan?? When I called back, Phil answered and I told him our findings and still stood behind his findings that he couldn't establish a leak. Meanwhile, the refrigerator leaking that Phil could not establish has been going on for awhile and has rotted our floor where we had to replace the plywood and didn't know how bad this leak was when he was there. We ended up replacing the refrigerator which was only 5 years old. I called to talk to the owner again (Phil apparently never gave her the first message) Marion and I explained what went on and I asked her for a refund. She refused and she has to pay her service people.....even though they don't know how to repair refrigerators!!! She instead wanted to argue amount of water on floor....until I told her the floor had to be ripped up! The choice is yours but I want someone who has integrity and actually knows how to repair appliances.
Description of Work: I scheduled an appointment for our refrigerator because we had been experiencing water in the floor on a daily basis. Phil showed up as scheduled and preceded to look over the refrigerator and tell me he doesn't see where the refrigerator is leaking.

This is the second time that we have used John's to repair our dishwasher. The first time, a glass had broken inside and the technician came to remove it. This time our touch controls were not working correctly, and we called them again. They have excellent customer service, arrive on time, and are very knowledgeable. We would use them again, and have already recommended them to a co-worker who was also very happy with their service. They also service nearby Pennsylvania.
Description of Work: Replaced the electronic touch pad on our Maytag dishwasher.
