Tom operates a small cabinet shop with one or two helpers, as needed, to complete his jobs. He does a fair amount of commercial work, making counters and cabinets for businesses and professionals. From what I can tell, this includes hotel desks, doctors offices and similar installations. The demands of contractors requiring his services for this kind of work can often impact his work schedules. As a result, we had to wait several months for our project to be completed. Although much of his business involves basic commercial cabinet installations, he has built and installed many beautiful custom cabinets for homes and professional offices. His portfolio includes both custom kitchens, great room/living rooms and libraries. We started conversations with Tom in late September of 2013. All meetings were held at our home in the evenings. We spoke for close to 2 hours while my wife and I described what we wanted. Our installation required custom drawer depths and cabinet sizes to accommodate many pieces of audio/visual equipment. Additionally we wanted, extensive molding details, detailed counter edges, fluted pilasters and very detailed, complex crown moldings. Tom took extensive notes and made measurements of the space in which the cabinets were to be built. Through the fall and into early 2014, we met several more times to work out design details, select materials and finishes. We committed to the work with a down payment in late November. Due to his busy schedule, I frequently had to initiate follow-up meetings. In mid-January we finalized our design and made an additional down payment. Our intention was to have the job completed by mid March. Due to delays caused by other work for his contractor clients, installation of our job was not completed until nearly a month later than we had planned. Tom built the cabinet boxes, shelves and counters. He also made the fluted pilasters and some of the specialized detail molding. The drawer fronts, doors and crown molding elements were sourced from a large commercial cabinet manufacturer. Tom applied all the finishes. Tom and 1 helper installed the cabinets over 3 days. It took that long due to installation of the extensive and complex moldings and trim we required. We obtained the drawer and door hardware separately, at our own expense. Tom returned and installed the hardware at no additional expense to us. The quality of the finished cabinets and their installation rival that found only in older classic homes and museums. Some of the special features we requested include: - Drawer panels that drop down, revealing sliding equipment trays for a BlueRay player and VCR. - 2 compartments fronted with antique brass grill-work which house a center channel speaker and sub-woofer. - Deep storage drawers for DVDs and video tapes. - Furniture style base moldings hand trimmed to meet the standard floor trim. - free floating 6.5 foot wide shelf mounted over the compartment for the flat screen television. - wood framed glass display shelves - recessed cabinet lighting While we were somewhat disappointed with project delays, the finished cabinets more than met our expectations. If you're seeking superior design and execution, Tom is your man. If you want a quickly done job, depending on his commitments, you may need to look elsewhere. Before deciding, I would suggest giving Tom a call first. If he can meet your schedule needs, you'll be very pleased with the results.

We were put in touch with Tom Lee (Tom's Cabinets) via our general contractor as part of our new home construction. From the very start of the process, Tom was sensitive and responsive to our needs and desires. He understood our budget and worked to stay near our target. While doing this, he was able to assemble our dream kitchen. We met several times to configure and complete the design. He was always available to us. He was at the job site when he said he would be and was always, pleasant and professional. We have recommended him to our friends and will continue to do so at every opportunity.
Description of Work: Tom Lee designed and installed a total kitchen in our new home. Additionally, he installed cabinets in two bathrooms.
