James Docherty

Pretty much like all the other reviews. James, Jim Docherty is a dishonest individual. The freshly paved driveway has line. Certain sections of the driveway is crumbling. There’s one area of the driveway that has buckled and is sinking. The driveway is 3 months new. This should not be happening. Jim has taken two of my phone calls. The calls were two months apart. He told me don’t worry my friend I’ll fix the problem. He has not fix the problem. Jim is a con- artist. He refuses to respond to my most recent email, voice and text messages. I would not recommend Docherty Paving to anyone. Docherty Paving is a third-generation family operation. James, Jim Docherty is a embarrassment to the Company’s Name. Do not ever trust this guy or anyone. Who gives you an a quote for a job and start smiling while using phrases like my friend. Example! I will be able to take care of that for you my friend. He is a liar. The reviews about this company speaks volumes. Share this review with anyone you think it might help.

Job was poorly done. Driveway sinking, crumbling and looked terrible a month later. It was put down in July 2019 and had to be patched in September 2019. I have a 1 year warranty that he refuses to honor ( called him a week before it expired ). He promised to repave driveway the 2nd week of September 2020. I have called and texted since then and he will not return messages. Very poor business model.

Jim’s crew came and did my driveway as promised. However 3 months later it started crumbling in several areas. Jim and Tom Carroll came out to look at it and told me they would remove and replace the driveway. Winter was coming so they said they would be out the following spring. Never happened. I called several times no response. Finally this past February I got a hold of Jim and he said he was working in Pennsylvania and would be able to do it in 3 weeks. 3 weeks came and went. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because of COVID 19 and waited a couple months. Tried calling several times. Left nice messages but no reply. This has been going on for well over a year. I finally had to write this review.

Jim paved the driveway and parking area for my apartment building and literally within 2 months, the paving fell apart. Jim came out and said he'd come back to fix the problems but even after repetitively calling him nearly every day for a month he never returned my calls and never fixed the problems. I now have to hire another contractor to completely replace the driveway and parking areas. Jim does poor quality work, doesn't honor his warranty, and was dishonest.

Quick to come out and perform work but after payment never followed up or returned calls to fix problems. tells customer work has a 1 year guarantee but doesn't stand behind it. Poor quality uneven finish. Started cracking and breaking apart within a week of being installed. Nothing but a fast talking con artist who gives small contractors a bad name in general. Now I have to pay someone else a lot more money to tear out his work so the job can be done properly. A waste of time and money using his services.
