Description of Work: Picked up trash twice weekly. They were excellent for the first several years that I used them, but suddenly they had missed a few Saturday pickups. The office wasn't terribly responsive to the problem, but it did get worked out so I continued to be a customer. However, about a year later, the same thing happened and - long story short - too many emails were not responded to, and it just didn't seem worth the aggravation anymore. | |The positive aspect of this company was that they would take anything I put out by the curb for no extra cost. This is why I continued to use them despite the premium price. | |However, the final straw came following the second time that there were multiple missed pickups. I asked the supervisor to whom I was talking on the phone to provide me a reason why I should continue using WM based on the experiences I'd been having. This was my way of letting her know I was willing to give them one more try, as I had been satisfied overall for the majority of the time. Her response was to pause a bit, and then say somewhat tentatively, "Well, I would hope that we are the cheapest service." She was very nice and I think was trying hard, but she was not based locally and obviously not well versed in the pricing for WM vs. other haulers in my state. Also, as my issue was not the cost of the service as the reliability and customer service, I wished she could have cited statistics that showed how reliable they were or how high their customer satisfaction was in relation to other trash services. | |I was sufficiently annoyed by the issue of missed pickups and WM's response that I decided to start taking my trash to the transfer station myself, as a better alternative to paying premium price for less than perfect service. (However, I did later sign up with a different trash removal service, found via Angie's List. :-) I've been delighted with their service and pricing! ) | | |

 + -1 moreIn southern MD, Waste Management costs over $50/month for twice-weekly trash pickup. Often, pickup days would go by without the trash ever being collected. During one time period, five consecutive pickups were missed. All I got was a robo-call apology. No refunds on the bill, ever. I got tired of them and hired a new company (Evergreen) that does it a lot more cheaply. Unfortunately, Waste Management doesn't seem to be taking "no" for an answer, and has continued to try to bill me for services after my (documented) cutoff date with them. They also never came and got their stupid green trash bin. If you live in southern MD, go with Evergreen. They have some issues too, but they are not nearly as bad as Waste Management.
Description of Work: Regularly missed one or more pickups per week. Failed to stop billing after services were cancelled.

 + -1 moreOverall, they did a good job of picking up our trash. They came reliably and, on occasion, were flexible with taking large items that didn't fit in our bin. They offered additional services - like bags you could purchase to mail back recyclable lightbulbs or batteries. On the down side, they came late in the afternoon, so our trash bin was on the street all day (though someone has to have an afternoon pickup). Once I called other vendors, I found their pricing on the high side, which was ultimately why we switched. Their customer service was always professional and responsive. Once we ended service, we had a hard time getting their toter picked up - which was ultimately resolved using Angie's Complaint Resolution Process.
Description of Work: Hired WM as for weekly trash pick-up.

 + -1 moreIt is nice that they pick up the trash twice a week. It is specifically helpful in the fall for the leaves to be taken away twice a week. But they are a little too expensive. Recently they have come up with a new fee which is another 2.1% add on. They already charge an administrative fee for sending the bill. I have considered going to a different contractor. They have subcontracted the trash collection to another company in this neighborhood. Some of the people in the neighborhood has gotten rid of Waste Management and gone to the other company. They do a good job. They show up when they are supposed to.

dumpster service
 + -1 moreThey are a national chain and have locations everywhere. We have never had any problems with them except sometimes they don't put the dumpster back where it is supposed to go; or they run into one of the gated dumpster enclosures and bend the gate out. But it is not like an every trash pickup occurrence; it is a rare thing when that happens. I will use them again in the future.
