Wall to wall provided a very reasonable quote and did an excellent job with this repair. As a result, the weird mold smell we have endured for several years has completely vanished. We have used Wall to wall in the past and will certainly do so again - their prices are very competitive, the staff (particularly the owner) are responsive and professional, and the work is top notch. Highly recommend!
Description of Work: Wall to Wall construction replaced our roof and we asked them to look at the chimney while they were on the roof. They tool multiple photos, demonstrating that the chimney was in complete disrepair (for health reasons my husband and I were unable to access the roof). Wall to wall came in and rebuilt the chimney with excellent results.

Our experience with Angel and his team was excellent! We have found Angel to be incredibly honest, responsible, responsive and accomodating. He is someone who genuinely cares about the quality of his work. The master bath remodel took approximately three weeks and throughout the entire process he was always available for any questions or concerns. Angel took the initiative to provide us with status reports on the work on a daily basis, always keeping us apprised of the work that had been accomplished and what was planned to occur on the next work day. We think the final result of our master bath is a beautiful space that could not have been accomplished without Angel and his team. Other miscellaneous handy man projects that were taken care of by Angel were also completed in a timely manner and to our complete satisfaction. We have a number of other projects planned for our home and without hesitation, we will be using Wall To Wall for those projects as well.
Description of Work: We used Angel Tuesta of Wall To Wall Construction to do a complete master bath remodel, drywall of a lower level family room, interior painting and a few miscellaneous handy-man projects.

Response from Wall to Wall Construction, Inc
We appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately, we never got the requested complete set of drawings from this customer. The only drawings we received were ones that had the main idea of the project but not the structural drawings, or the schedule for finishes. Due to the lack of information given, we could not finish his estimate with the information that we had on hand. We apologize if there was any miscommunication in our expressed need for structural drawings and schedule for finishes. Julio Angel Tuesta Noel

Overall good. I did not choose the company for the small handy work because I saved money by going with a handyman rather than a formal contractor like Wall to Wall. I requested the estimate via the Angie's List message function. I received an initial e-mail response from company the next day and scheduled an appointment. After the consultation at my home, the contractor sent me the estimate 9 days later.

It went quite smoothly. My house is 100 years old, and Angel seems comfortable working on these kinds of houses (without trying to rip off clients!). I think the quality of the work was very high. Angel is very precise and very responsive. He is good at communicating with clients, even detail-oriented mathematicians like me. It was a complicated project, and there were essentially no issues throughout. My only discontent is that he is not as flexible as some contractors about last-minute changes, especially if they might affect the schedule. There was one point at which I really should have had my electrician look at some wiring before the walls were closed up, but there wasn't the chance. But I can understand the importance of staying on schedule, and the flip side is that he is extremely organized and reliable. My partner and I were especially pleased with how the floors came out. Angel's flooring subcontractor seemed quite experienced and good with customers. There was a botched refinishing job on these floors some time in the distant past, and then there was carpet covering them for 35 years after that. These guys managed to smooth out most of the ridges and gouges. After the stain and polyurethane, the floors were beautiful, in a way that today's parquet floors don't nearly approach.
Description of Work: The main job was to fix a dilapidated floor joist system in a second-floor bay about 9 feet across and 3 feet deep. They removed a large section of the floorboards in the room, about 10' x 15' in area. They took out the old joists in the bay area. They attached hangers to the wall and built a new joist system in that area. They made the floor of the whole room level (at least in one direction) and installed 3/4" new subfloor. I had already mostly demolished the walls in the bay. They finished that and then installed insulation and drywall. They installed two new windows that I purchased. They had to replace the drywall on the ceiling of the first floor, in the area below the old joists. All drywall was taped, plastered, sanded, and primed. During this process, we did some smaller jobs that he arranged through subcontractors. First, some radiator pipes in the bay area had to be rerouted, so they removed portions of the old ones, and his plumber installed new copper pipes. Second, they removed a false ceiling in my first floor entryway and put new drywall on the ceiling, about 6' x 10'. Finally, one of his subcontractors refinished all the parquet floors on my first floor, about 500 square feet.

Scheduling the estimate was quick and easy and done via e-mail. Alberto arrived on time and we discussed the scope of work. He asked that I forward photos of how we wanted the cabinets laid out to help him in preparing the estimate. After three days, I contacted them via e-mail to ask about the status of the estimate and received a very short, but informative, estimate. I didn't choose them to do the work because another company provided a better estimate and got back to me in a more timely manner. They were very professional and I will consider using them for other work we may need in our kitchen renovation.

Overall it was a very good experience, like all of the other times I've hired W2W. Angel had given me an estimate about 1.5 years ago (I didn't proceed at the time) and when I called to do this, he didn't raise his price at all. His estimate was about 30% lower than those I received from other masonry contractors. This was partly attributable to his prices just being more reasonable. But he was also the only one who was upfront about the fact that the back of the house did not have to be entirely repointed. There had been some patchwork repointing that was done prior when I bought the house and while it looked messy Angel said that the actual mortar had set well and didn't need to be replaced. Every other firm said I needed to do the entire back of the house. Angel suggested that as a way to save money, he simply clean up all the mortar residue that was never removed from the face of the bricks. As for the work and crew, they were very respectful of the house and property and cleaned up well. We had to get permission from the abutting properties (both sides are condos), which I obtained, and the crew worked relatively fast and was very good about cleaning up so that there were not any issues with the other property owners. The work was done well, and the house now looks much better than it did before. Part of the landing/stairs at the front had become unstable and he did a good job of stabilizing that when they repointed. It did take a little longer than we had anticipated, but most of that was due to all the rain we had (they can't work when it rains). Will definitely hire this firm again .
Description of Work: I have an old townhouse in DC (built 1906). The house needed a great deal of tuckpointing and Angel/W2W completed this for me. This included scraping out the old mortar from between the bricks and adding new mortar. The entire front of the house was done and on the back of the house, about 75% was repointed.

Angel is great to work with - he is quick to respond to questions and comments, takes time to go over the work with you to ensure the he understands what needs to be done, and can schedule the work quickly. The estimates were both in the ball park of what we were expecting, and included all the work; there were no surpises at the end. Especially for the back yard project, but for both projects generally, the work was of very high quality, the work was done quickly and neatly with minimal impact on the rest of the household. I look forward to working with Wall to Wall and Angel in future projects and woujld recommend this company to anyone without hesitation.
Description of Work: We hired Wall to Wall to do two projects 1) to install insulation and an exhaust fan in our attic 2) to tear out the concrete pad in the backyard of our row house, level the area, and put in a concrete edging along the alley to hold in the newly-level back yard.

It went very well. Angel was very responsive and patient in communicating with me throughout the project. I feel I got what I wanted, the work was high quality, and the process was quite smooth and pleasant.
Description of Work: They removed rotten wooden posts supporting a small bump-out on my house, about 3 feet deep and 8 feet wide. They dug footings 30 inches deep and built two columns from cinderblocks and concrete for new support. They built new framing and an exterior wall around the column area, more or less flush with the rest of the exterior wall in the bump-out area. Before the work began, they made drawings of the planned work for me, which I was able to use to obtain permits for the work. They passed both inspections with no issues. Angel was very patient and cooperative in dealing with the inspection process.

I got about six different estimates. They were professional. I found them on Angie’s List, where they had received good reviews. I chose a different company to do the work basically because they were located very near where I live, and they had also received good reviews. I would consider trying Wall to Wall Construction again in the future.

As you can see from the list of work performed and the cost of the service, WTW provided a substantial amount of service. I had them involved in the repair and renovation of two houses simultaneously. Due to the extensive nature of the work needed, the service was provided over the course of 8 months. They were fantastic! All the work was planned and scheduled and performed as agreed. I have used them before so I knew what to expect as far as dependablility, professionalism, and quality of work. I would never have agreed to have WTW involved in such a large project if I did not trust them and respect their work. What a great company. They can do it all..large projects, small projects, complex projects, simple projects... and can do it competently. IMHO I think this is a great company. They are my "go to" guys, and I highly recommend them to all.

I have had them handle two separate projects now and in both cases everything was great. Angel does a very good job of explaining exactly what he is doing, is patient, and he is always punctual. I've had other estimates from him that come in well above what I anticipated, but in the end they do a really good job. When I've gone with another company for other work, I've always thought that I should have just spent the extra money and gone with Wall to Wall. I would highly recommend them so long as you can afford it.

Last year I hired Wall to Wall to remodel, repair, and paint the first floor of my home. I was very pleased with their work and contacted Angel Tuesta, the owner of Wall to Wall Construction, Inc., to remodel, repair, and paint the upstairs at the beginning of this year. My excellent experience of last year was fully matched by this year's work. Angel prepared detailed estimates and came to the house several times to review the rooms to be remodeled. The work entailed removing an entire wall between two bedrooms, restructuring the doorway from the hall, removing an inadequate closet from one area, and constructing an elaborate new closet, doing needed repair work of the hallway, and working on a third bedroom/den. Angel and his workmen arrived every morning on time and by working hard and steadily, they accomplished a great every day. I was particularly appreciative of the care they took to protect my furnishings. For example, one room has wall to wall bookcases that are filled with perhaps 2,000 volumes. They took great care to completely seal the bookcases with plastic and tape so the grit and plaster dust did not penetrate. The house is older, walls are not plumb, and the door moldings verge on antique. Angel took pains to match all as closely as possible. He discussed adjustments needed, and I was always confident of his choices and workmanship. I came to rely on his good taste, and he helped me decide between one shade of cream paint and another. In cold weather, it could have been particularly stressful to have workmen in the house for three weeks. Instead, I found Angel and his crew thoughtfully aware. Music was listened to with earphones, cell phone calls were taken outside the house, conversations and consultations were held in low tones. They cleaned and vacuumed every night, and even the bad snow and ice of early February did not interrupt the schedule more than a day. It was impressive consideration. I have other projects to be undertaken -- such as painting the outside of the house, and I look forward to working with Wall to Wall Construction again. They do excellent work and are to be fully commended.
Description of Work: Wall to Wall Construction did some substantial remodeling to several rooms in the upstairs of my home. They removed a non-load bearing wall between two bedrooms, custom built a wall to wall closet, installed walls, took up aging carpet, rewired lighting, plastered and painted the majority of the upstairs of the house. They also undertook several handyman jobs such as ripping out poorly installed bead board in a bathroom and repaired the wall; replaced a shower door, took down honeycomb blinds in one room and installed them in another room.

Mr. Noel came out to our house to take a look at a subflooor repair job under our bathroom. He was honest and candid about our options for moving forward. He took time to discuss these options with us and answer all our questions. We ended up not having the work done, since the repair would entail essentially having to redo much of the bathroom and was not structurally critical (Mr. Noel's assessment). I would certainly use this company again.

I am extremely pleased. The WTW team is on time, professional, and take extra steps to make sure the project was done to my satisfaction. WTW communicated unexpected issues with me and worked within both my budget and my expectations. Importantly, WTW was able to help me conceptualize my vision for my basement and provide design advice when I was having trouble designing a finished project. I am very happy with the end result.
Description of Work: WTW framed and installed drywall in my entire basement, including a bathroom, staircase, closet, and kitchen area. They framed around support beams, pipes, and other difficult angles. They also adapted to irregularities in our wall and foundation footer. Finally, they primed and painted the entire basement.

I have a semi-enclosed portion of my basement located under the sleeping porch at the back of my townhouse. I am enclosing it to use as my laundry room. One of the final steps was installing a door. There was no existing frame, just irregular bricks forming a doorway. The door needed to be installed at an angle to accommodate a storm drain. It also needed to be shortened to fit with a lower ceiling. Wall to Wall Construction bought the door and expertly installed it in half a day. This included all the necessary framing. The door looks great and works beautifully. After installing a door and some windows myself on other home improvement projects, I can really tell the difference between a DIY job and a professional job like what I got from WTW. I absolutely plan to use them again and recommend them for any renovation, home improvement, or general handyman work you may have.

We got three bids for this work and Wall to Wall was the most responsive contractor, and had a very reasonable estimate. Some of the contractors I asked for bids never called me back, but Wall to Wall returned my call in short order and came over to do the estimate within just a few days. We picked them because the bid was within the range of other contractors and we felt they were the most responsive to our inquiry. In general, i found everyone who worked on the roof to be very easy to work with and communicative. Angel kept in touch by email and phone to let us know the schedule, work that needed to be be done, arrival time, etc. Our roof had not been looked at for well over a decade and needed some expert TLC. Angel laid down a 30 year roof and put barriers between our portion of the roof and our neighbors', to control water flow. His crew rebuilt our deteriorating dormer windows, too. We found everyone easy to work with and very experienced. At the end, the contractor sent us photos of the roof so we could see the "before" and "after" shots without having to go four stories up the fire escape (our roof is hard to access!). We appreciate the good work, professionalism, reasonable price, and great attitude and have used Wall to Wall since then for other home repairs and renovations.
Description of Work: Wall to Wall replaced the flat roof on our 140 year old Dupont Circle row house, including repairing the flashing, completly repairing the roofing materials, re-sealing, etc, and also rebuilding the dormer window roofing on our 4th / top floor, which had been badly mangled by a previous contractor.

Dealing with Angel Tuesta and his fine crew was highly satisfactory in every regard. The work was excellent, Angel was extraordinarily responsive, and the price was fair. My home is older, there are many quirks to be accommodated, and I have a fair number of irreplaceable pieces of furniture and antiques. Though the remodeling work required demolition, construction, and considerable wall and floor repair, all was completed with care taken to protect furnishings and artwork. I'll mention also that gardening is a passion of mine and that my house is enclosed on four sides with an extensive cottage garden of flowers, bushes, trees, and narrow pathways. I was impressed and grateful that Angel's crew hauled large lumber, ladders, tools and all the accoutrements of painting with great care and some effort through the garden without damage. Every appointment was kept on time, there was followup calls every step of the way. The contracts were more extensive than I thought needed and always conveyed ahead of time. There were no surprises, and my changes were discussed and accommodated. The painting was the best I've ever had done, and I've yet to rehang some pictures simply because the walls themselves are so beautifully finished and pleasing to look at. I cannot compliment Angel Tuesta enough. He was always prompt, always patient. He was also good humored, thoughtful, honest, and a great pleasure to work with. I am so pleased with last year's work, that this year, I plan to use Wall to Wall Construction on projects to the upstairs of my home.
Description of Work: Last year, I had the good fortune to use Wall to Wall Construction for a dozen remodeling and painting projects to my home. Larger projects ranged from replacing flooring in an upstairs enclosed porch to tear-out of wall to wall bookcases and extensive wall repair to replacement of larger than usual front door and entry to painting of entire first floor including foyer, entryway, porch, livingroom, diningroom, kitchen, bath, and study. Minor handyman projects included items such as replacing broken louvered closet doors, rewiring the front doorbell, and repairing roof flashing and drainage.
