The company was great. They were punctual and professional. All work met or exceeded expectations. The price was very competitive and in fact was lower than the cost anticipated for the amount of work to be performed. I will definitely use this company again and will refer them to others without hesitation.

Perfection! From the estimate to the scheduling to advice on the material selection to cleanliness to quality of work--I can't say enough about these guys. Fantastic. They were not the cheapest estimate I received but I was familiar with the quality of their work through friends and they did not disappoint. A few things I particularly appreciated: 1) We have small kids. They went to GREAT lengths, without being asked, to keep the house safe and clean while they worked. They did a lead test to make sure there was no lead paint (there wasn't) and sealed up everything just in case. Then they completely cleaned up every day when they were done. 2)Angel told me at the beginning when they planned to start, but he was able to do the demolition a little early to coincide with our vacation. 3) Angel gave me advice on what tiles were appropriate for the job without being pushy.
Description of Work: They expanded and remodeled our powder room to add a shower/make it a full bath.

When Julio (the manager) came to do an estimate at the end of July, I immediately was impressed by him. He was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable. We are first time home owners and over the past two years, I've discovered that there are a lot of quirky things about our house that nobody seemed to know how to fix. Our basement shower area was hard to fix. We found some mold behind our shower seat and walls. We had the mold removed by a mold remediation company and didn't have the best experience with them. We were left with this half destroyed shower that most contractors didn't seem to know how to fix. Julio knew right away what to do and when I showed him where the water had come in through our back door, and that therefore we wanted to replace the back door, he was the first contractor to point out the real source of the problem. The drain outside my backdoor needed to be lowered, as to be much lower than the door to avoid flooding. I also asked him about this other problem that we had with our dryer not drying properly. It turned out that house had a dryer duct smaller than standard size that made it hard for all the air to exit. It was almost impossible to completely dry our clothes. We agreed that he would send me the estimate for the shower area first since that was our priority and that we would go from there. Since his price was good and he seemed to have such comprehensive knowledge, we decided to go with Wall-to-Wall. We are so glad we did. His crew came right on time every morning and worked really hard and well. I'm home most of the time so I was able to supervise the work easily and was really happy with how they kept deadlines and were working at a steady pace. Becase they were making great progress on the shower, we had them do the dryer duct as well. They worked well and fast on it as they knew how important it was for a family of 5 to get back a functioning clothes dryer as soon as possible. I was so happy we got that done and It has made such a difference in our family life to be able to dry our close only once as opposed to the three times it too before! I was glad that Wall-to-Wall was willing to interrupt the shower for a few days to do the venting duct even though it was a last minute request. Despite the last minute request and delay it incurred, Wall-to-Wall still tried really hard to meet our original deadline. Everything was pretty much done before the deadline. There were only a few finishing touches to be done . As a finishing touch, Julio made sure to add an extra coating of this special silicon paint as an extra protection against mold. Overall we were really happy with them and look forward to working with them again.

Hi Everyone, My husband and I bought our first home together in the Capitol Hill area. It was definitely a "Fixer-Upper" because that's all we could afford. We wanted to get started right away so we got some permits for the demo work and had contractors come by to give us estimates. Out of all of the contractors taking a look at the job, Angel was the only one to take some time to educate us on how to properly protect ourselves from toxic materials while we were working. He was definitely concerned for our safety even before we picked him as our contractor and that really set him apart from the rest at the start. He always gave us his best possible pricing. He was evening willing to quote us for different phases of the work so that we could do some of it ourselves. That not only made it more affordable for us but also let us take part in the building of our dream home. At every step, would always remind us that if we wanted someone else to do the next phase or concurrent phases, he would be more than happy to work with other contractors. He never pressured us into making a choice to stick with him for everything. He always recommended we could shop around for better prices and he would never be offended. He was just hoping to make the process as simple and easy as possible for us. And that truly did make a huge difference. Angel would call us at the end of each day and let us know the progress that happened that day and asked us if we had any questions. He would keep us up to date on when the inspections were scheduled and how the inspections went, each time he would show us the inspectors comments on the sheet so that we knew everything was going well. He would also ask us to visit the site to come see the work. From time to time, he would need feedback from us on how to proceed with certain obstacles and he would always layout all the options equally and let us choose freely. He would never push an option just because it was the quick & easy solution for him. I was truly amazed at all the personal attention he would give us, between sending us photos, text and email updates and calls in the evening. It was outstanding service and attention. In fact, even when we send email questions, he'd prefer to respond in phone calls to make sure he clearly answered each question. He was reachable at almost anytime by text, email or phone. He was even answering questions while he was on his vacation, talk about dedication :) At the end of the day, his team would leave the site immaculately clean and organized. Before going into the renovation, I read a book by Mike Holmes and he said that one big indicator between a bad contractor and good one is that a good one will always clean up to make sure the site is safe and a bad one will not take the time to clean. Angel and his team would always go above and beyond in terms of keeping the site clean and safe. My neighbor came to check on the work because he also had a similar row house and he wanted to see what it looked under the plaster & lath. He said he was very impressed with Angel's work and courtesy. He also said that Angel was very conscientious in terms of noise levels and only working during regular hours. The quality of his work was also incredible. All the electrical, and plumbing and framing and drywall work was done expertly. Even though it is 100 year old house that has shifted and settled at weird angles over the years, he was still able to make an almost perfectly square house. We are definitely planning on working with Angel on any future project and we highly recommend him to everyone in the DC and Virginia area.

I highly recommend Wall to Wall! We had the company create built-in bookshelves in our living room, and we could not be happier with the result. From my first contact, Angel, the President of Wall to Wall, was extremely responsive and professional. I scheduled Angel for the free in-home estimate and he arrived exactly on time. He provided a detailed written description of the work that would be performed as well as a drawing of the bookshelves so we knew exactly what to expect. Angel and his team were more punctual than any contractor we've ever hired; they arrived at their scheduled time every single day, and always left their work area cleaned up. Equally as impressive, they completed the project in the time period they had estimated. And, the final cost of the project was the same as was given to us from the first estimate. The bookshelves look fantastic. We are thrilled with the quality of Wall to Wall's work, and really appreciated Angel's professional and friendly manner. I would definitely use Wall to Wall again for other projects in our home.
Description of Work: Wall to Wall created wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves for our living room.
We really enjoyed meeting Angel. He has a busy schedule but made time for us and came by for an estimate exactly when he said that he would. He was courteous, professional, and obviously skilled and knowledgeable. He gave us an estimate for flooring in our basement and interior painting. We had high confidence that he would be a great provider. His estimate was higher than others we received, but not as high as some. In the end, we decided to go with a less expensive option, but we will absolutely contact Angel about future work.
Description of Work: Provided estimate for flooring and painting.

We've worked with Angel and his team before, so we felt confident that this job would go as well as the last one. We weren't wrong. Angel, as always, was very responsive to all our questions. They were able to start the job sooner than what was initially proposed, which we were happy about. They were also able to finish the job within the initially estimated time (the whole thing took about 2+weeks). Angel's team was professional and for the most part punctual. At the end of the project, their team lost a bit of their attention to detail when patching and painting the walls, but one call to Angel and everything was quickly fixed and finished. We plan on using them in the future for other work.
Description of Work: Angel and his team re-wired our house. They installed new circuits, outlets, receptacles, electrical smoke detectors and mounted our stereo speakers. They also repaired all the drywall damage and repainted where it was needed.

I've used their services for years, and they're outstanding. They're artistic, creative and attentive. Everyone has commented on my steps. They did beautiful work. Everything they do is outstanding. I give them straight A's.
Description of Work: Wall to Wall Construction, Inc painted the exterior of my house, put in flagstone steps, and took care of some sagging on my house.
The man who runs this company (Angel) appeared decent and knowledgeable and gave us good suggestions on how to resolve some issues. They performed the tasks which we contracted for acceptably, except (1) the installation of the disposal failed to remove a part and resulted in flooding under our sink. (2) In various exchanges about this problem, Angel was very quick to presume that it was not a problem caused by the installation, before he had seen the problem. They did fix it, but it was not pleasant dealing with him over this. (3) When I showed him all of the tasks I wanted done, on some of the smaller issues he said he would look at them and try to help with them when they were on site. However, once the workers were there, he refused to do so and cited that lack of specification in the estimate as if I was trying to get them to work for free. I would have insisted that he include all items in the estimate had he not shrugged those issues off, since what I wanted was a package of various services. Now some fo the issues remain unfixed. (4) The quality of disposal that he chose was not equivalent to the quality I had before, even though I said I wanted it to be. When I asked him about a certain type which I understood to be a superior quality, he said it would cost $3,000, instead of giving me reasonable quality/price choices.
Description of Work: Contractor changed kitchen disposal, installed an external safety gate on basement window, and repaired a sliding door. He also provided an estimate for other services which we have not yet pursued.

Response from Wall to Wall Construction, Inc
Before we did the installation of the garbage disposal, the owner suggested a type of garbage disposal that is for commercial purposes, which would have been a very expensive option. After the owner asked for other options that would meet her budget, we found one and sent her the full information of the disposal so the homeowner could decide if she wanted us to buy it or not. Wall To Wall Construction, Inc. did not purchase the fixture without having the homeowner's approval first. When we were notified of the garbage disposal problem, our first answer to the homeowner was that we would repair the problem of the disposal as part of our warranty as long as it had to do with our installation. We told her that there would be an extra cost if the problem was not related to our installation and had to do with some other problem, such as a blocked drain hose of the dishwasher, which is also connected to the garbage disposal. Wall To Wall Construction, Inc. did not presume that it was not a problem caused by our installation as soon as we were notified. We only made sure that the owner was aware of all the possible scenarios. Wall To Wall Construction, Inc. sent our plumber and we found out that our plumber did not remove a seal that was supposed to be removed during the installation, and we fixed the problem right away. Wall To Wall Construction, Inc. had offered the owner help with her small issues for free, as long as we had the time to spare while we were doing the work for which we were paid. Unfortunately, the list of favors kept growing by the time we were almost done, and Wall To Wall Construction, Inc. did not have extra time to spare to help her out with all the extra smaller issues. Wall To Wall Construction, Inc will be more than happy to help the homeowner with her smaller issues, if we are working near her property. Sincerely, Julio Angel Tuesta Noel President. House Painting: I had scheduled to have the entire exterior of my house repainted in March 2012. The entire area surrounding the house is surrounded by full scale garden, foundation to fence. Due to the unusual weather this year, I was concerned that everything -- daffodils, tulips, peonies, etc. were in full bloom 2-3 weeks early and exactly coincided with the scheduled painting. I discussed my concerns with Angel Tuesta, who listened patiently to my worries. He reassured me that his crew understood my concerns and that they would go to great lengths to ensure nothing would be damaged. He was absolutely right, and I was amazed and delighted that the house was fully painted and few if any blooms were destroyed. This may sound minor, but it was major. There were areas where lead paint several layers down still existed. Every surface -- walls, trim, window ledges -- all had to be hand scraped, and every flake of paint retrieved. Painters were in protective gear according to exacting EPA rules. There were extension ladders, vacuums, scrapers, lightweight paint cloths, base and final paint cans. Extraordinary efforts were made. I could barely stand to look. When they got around to where my tree peonies were in full 8 inch pink tissue bloom, I reiterated my concerns to Angel. To his credit, he never rolled his eyes at my anxious warnings. The ladders were placed at careful angles, painters moved plants gently, and to my true surprise, every surface whether covered with hydrangea, azalea, clematis or vine, was painted perfectly, and I am exceedingly pleased with the result. Flagstone Steps: My front steps have been disreputable for years, and my solution has been to slap more paint atop, which of course made them ever more slippery. The concrete began to crack, and since the outside of the house now was beautifully painted, I plunged ahead with step replacement. I discussed all options with Angel -- considering more concrete, slate, river stone or flagstone. We decided on flagstone, and Elmer, Angel's "concrete man" did an exceptional job. He laid a fine arrangement of flagstones paying attention to color and placement. The work was done with great care and effort. There was only one day I had to use the back entry. The new steps have elicited so many compliments, I realize the old steps must have been quite an eyesore. Foundation Support: A "push out" extension to the dining area off the kitchen had begun to shift slightly, but to the extent that I could no longer crank open the tall windows on their side. If you looked carefully, you could see shoring up of the area was needed if further sagging was to be precluded. Elmer returned with 12 bags of cement, shovels, cinder blocks, a steel beam, commercial jacks....and a strong back. It was a killing job that involved digging down three feet to lay a cement floor and then building concrete pillars set to support the cantilevered extension. I was impressed that Elmer worked steadily, was goodnatured throughout. I swear those pillars will stand even if a tornado comes and blows the rest of the house down. I am totally satisfied with everything Wall to Wall Construction has undertaken these past weeks. Work was scheduled and completed on time. Angel Tuesta checked in almost daily, listened patiently, and made sure any suggestion or concern was addressed. All areas were cleaned up at the end of the day. Every effort was undertaken for consideration of my neighbors -- no music, radios, loud conversations between workers or on cell phones. I continue to be impressed with the quality of work, professionalism, and end result.
Description of Work: Three separate projects took place in March, April and May 2012. I had the entire outside area of my two story house painted and the front steps of painted cement replaced with flagstone steps. A separate project involving shoring up of an extension to the diningroom is currently being finished.

In November of 2011 we had a leak in the kitchen ceiling, which is situated below the upstairs bathroom. We called out a plumber to investigate and it turned out that the leak was coming from the bathroom shower above. We were already considering remodeling our bathroom, and this leak prompted us to proceed with the job since we figured we would have to tear up the bathroom floor to fix the leak. We used Wall to Wall Construction for our wood floor installation in 2010 and based on that enjoyable experience, they were the company we wanted to complete this task. We spoke with company owner, Angel, in detail about our options and preferences with the bathroom remodel. Angel was extremely helpful, offering his advice and suggestions to us. Most importantly, he imparts trust when he speaks?a real honest-broker. After getting an estimate from Angel and signing a contract, the work began. The first task was to completely gut the bathroom, which included ripping up the floor tiles; Angel and his crew worked quickly and efficiently. Angel immediately alerted us to some underlying issues, including the source of our leak. It turned out that the old shower had been leaking so badly that the floorboard was severely rotted. In addition, the shower tiles had been fitted directly onto drywall ? perhaps a cost cutting exercise when the house was built? (our house was built in 1992). Angel and his men ripped out the old drywall in the shower, replacing it with the proper materials. They also replaced the rotted floorboard. The bathroom floor was then prepped for the new floor tiles to be fitted. Afterwards, the bathroom was now ready for the installation of the new fixtures and fittings. Angel advised us to go with a tiled shower floor, and we are extremely pleased that we went this route (both aesthetically and quality). Angel?s tile fitter did a fantastic job, and all of the tile work (bathroom floor, shower floor, and shower walls) was completed at a high level of quality. Angel?s plumber and electrician also had their part in our bathroom renovation, and both jobs were professionally done. The bathroom was then painted by Angel?s painter in the color we chose, and the end result was fantastic! Finally, the fixtures were installed (vanity, toilet, shower fixtures, sink fixtures, light fixture). After this, we just had one remaining piece before completion?installing a new medicine cabinet. However, our existing cabinet was an odd measurement? meaning that we could not find a replacement that was suitable to our new, beautiful bathroom. And once again, Angel came to our rescue! Angel custom-built a wooden cabinet for us; and, it is one of our favorite features of the bathroom. Thank you Angel!
Description of Work: We had our bathroom completely gutted and remodeled in December 2011 by Wall to Wall Construction, and we are extremely pleased about the quality of this company’s work and the professionalism of its owner/employees. We contacted Wall to Wall Construction roughly 2 weeks before the work began and the entire project lasted 10 business days.

We had a generally successful experience with the competitor of Wall to Wall whom we hired. We are happy with the results.
Description of Work: We received an estimate for a major renovation (second story and addition) in 2010. We were very impressed with the professionalism, knowledge, and responsiveness of the owner. His price was excellent, too. We went with the competitor only because we would have needed to find and hire an architect to finalize our design plans because Wall to Wall had no in-house architect (and the other company had an architect). We wanted to get started. However, we would have been very confident in hiring Wall to Wall.

The project was a breeze from start to finish. The estimate was accurate and timely. Angel listened to my concerns, which among other things included accommodating our pets during the project, took them seriously, and immediately suggested strategies to address them. Aside from the fact that he quoted us a fair price, his professionalism was the reason I went with this company. The crew was amazingly punctual and worked very hard - finishing ahead of schedule. They also cleaned up after themselves beyond my expectations. I would absolutely recommend Wall to Wall and would use them again without hesitation.

Fine. For the kitchen work, it probably took longer to get it done because we separated out various part of the work, but overall I think this solution worked the best and allowed me to make changes as we went along.
Description of Work: Angel and his crew have done a number of projects for me over the years. This report covers tuckpointing the entire house (about $20K, in early 2011) and also some cabinetry work he did in the kitchen (about $10K, in late 2011 and early 2012). His tuckpointing estimate was very competitive with the other two quotes I received and he did an excellent job. It included scraping out mortar between the bricks and installing new mortar. The work was first rate - it is very clean, looks good, and was strong enough to survive the August 2011 mini-quake we had in DC. He was also very honest in telling me what should be done and what did not need to be done. There was an area in the back of the house that had been repointed prior to when I purchased the house. The other firms said it needed to be completely redone, but Angel said that it was structurally fine but just messy. So rather than redoing that entire portion of the house, he had his crew remove the messy bits (technical term) and jut clean it up. This saved me a significant amount of money. The cabinetry work was a fix it situation as I had a prior contractor that royally screwed up. Angel reconfigured the cabinets, installed all new doors, and then stained and polyed them. It really looks terrific. He also recommended we do it step by step, so that I could see the progress as he went along and make changes, rather than just signing a contract for everything at once. It took a little longer this way but I think that it was a good solution. My sense is that the job was a nightmare for him, as the prior contractor had really done a crappy job. Angel had to fix a lot of the existing boxes, and also had to fine tune the doors so they would function properly on the not so square and even cabinets. Excellent work.

Angel and his team were extremely professional and punctual. This was the first major project my husband and I have done in our home and were at first a bit anxious as to how it was going to work. However, Angel and his team answered everyone of our questions and took us through the entire process step-by-step. They were always readily available and easy to get a hold of. The project did not take longer than initially estimated and stayed within budget. We plan on using Wall to Wall on future work in our home and would recommend them to anyone.

They really did an excellent job - they were timely, attentive and addressed all concerns that I had immediately. They worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. They also made excellent recommendations regarding style & structural issues. They went the extra mile to make sure the work blended well with my existing home. They matched the existing paint & touched up places that needed it to make it look finished. The crew was friendly, hard working and on time. Couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Wall-to-Wall demolished an existing interior stair way & rebuilt the stairs to add a handrail and lengthen the stairs. The work included drywall, painting and carpentry work.
This was by far the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. The work was top quality and was completed as scheduled despite significant delays due to the weather. The workers were always on time and my questions were always answered thoughtfully and completely.
Description of Work: Wall to Wall fixed a number of things to prepare our house to be put on the market. Work included partly replacing and re-sistering a floor joist that had been damaged by termites, re-installing exterior brick, handyman services, interior and exterior painting and sealing and replastering around some windows.

They provided a very clear proposal and provided the exact service promised in a very quick timeframe. When the painter came he pointed out some additional areas that needed repair. Wall to Wall immediately came over and provided a new estimate for these repairs and did them in a timely manner. We then experienced the new stucco was washing away when hosed. They immediately came over, determined that the materials used had been faulty and completely rebuilt the affected areas. The stucco was well done and is holding up well. I was impressed with how quickly they responded to my call and addressed any issue that I had in a very timely manner. Overall very honest, professional and responsive. Would highly recommend.
Description of Work: I contracted Wall to Wall to do some repairs to the exterior of our 120 year old house, prior to getting the house painted as well as stucco some exterior walls on the ground level. They also refinished our cherrywood exterior door.
The company owner was involved in every aspect of the job. Angel came to develop the estimate and participated in each phase of the project. Angel stopped by at the end of the project to discuss results and make recommendations. The contractor team performed the work sequentially, starting with the tile installation and finishing with the door installation. Overall, a smooth remodel. Costs were in line with other estimates and the work performed was satisfactory. The tile installation was superb and are a tremendous improvement. We had a slight miscommunication with the door installation but the results are very good. I would definitely recommend Wall to Wall for a home remodel.
Description of Work: Wall to Wall installed tile in the master bathroom, installed cabinet lighting in the kitchen and replaced all interior doors with 6-panel doors. The bathroom installation required complete tear out and sub-floor installation. The kitchen required replacement of existing cabinet lighting. The door installation included doors and hardware.

This is probably one of the most challenging projects I've experienced. My house is old, and much of the furniture is antique. The wall to wall carpeting was ancient, discolored and nearly glued to the oak flooring by the multiple cleanings. There were probably 1000 staples thereon. Angel and his team worked steadily and cheerfully. I had hoped to refinish the existing old oak, but many bad patches, large plywood areas, awkward levels, and even lack of sub-flooring in spots were discovered. Thus, we went for full installation of new flooring. Angel's associate, Luis, brought in enormous stacks of oak planks -- it took him 50 trips up and down steps into the house. The oak was laid with beautiful precision -- planks cut, fitted, hammered, and nail-gunned in. A lot of noise. The furniture was a problem and complicated matters -- 4 couches, easy chairs, dining table and chairs, buffet, chests, TV and a dozen lamps were the easier items that had to be moved. There was also an ancient roll-top desk that had to be dismantled. Angel did that one himself. Figuring out where to put the old 8 foot bench of "iron wood" that weighs tons was second only to how to move it. It was not easy staying in the house while the entire main floor was being installed. I think it was only possible because Angel and his group made every effort to ensure I had access to a "livable" level (upstairs, or refinished basement); hung plastic sheeting to protect where they could. It rained almost every day but the crew never slackened, always showed up on time, explained what schedule was, and discussed concerns. They cleaned and vacuumed each night, and everyone was good natured and thoughtful throughout. Luis gratuitously bought and placed small felt pads under large pieces of furniture, so the hardwood will not be scratched or marred by my moving stuff around. Angel checked in by phone, email, or in person every day. I was always confident he was on top of it, was prepared to advise when needed, and took a genuine and professional interest in the craftsmanship. The finished project is really amazing. One friend came over before the furniture was put back, and simply lay down flat on the floor, saying "it's gorgeous."
Description of Work: Wall to Wall Construction installed new hardwood floors in the first floor of my house -- approximately 900 square feet -- that included foyer, livingroom, dining room, porch, den, and stairs. It was a substantial project that required taking up 40 year old rugs, working around and moving major amounts of furniture. The oak planks were finished in-house, including the polyurethane process and the dreaded sanding. I lived in the house during the entire two weeks, and it was bearable because of Angel Tuesta's efficiency, responsiveness, constant oversight, and concern. My floors are stunning, and it's like walking on satin.
