Description of Work: Excavate basement to code, pour new concrete floor, underpin foundation, install new French drain, waterproof foundation inside and outside; create new half bath in basement; build new inside staircase from basement to first floor; complete kitchen renovation; complete bathroom renovation; install high-velocity a/c; upgrade electrical service; install 47 new windows; replace siding; repair/replace damaged walls, ceilings, woodwork; paint entire interior. Contractor listened to what I wanted done, respected my wishes and preferences, shopped for high-quality materials at best price. Work is very high quality. I particularly appreciated his appreciation of my 1891 Victorian and my desire to save as much of its original features and materials as possible. I would highly recommend him, especially to anyone with a very old house.

+ 0 moreWorking with Venus Construction and Remodeling has been a real pleasure. From the very beginning I had high expectations for this company, especially the owner, Mayhar Mahvi, because I saw him on "This Old House" and was fascinated with his work. When Mr. Mahvi visited the house I wanted gutted, he was not overwhelmed with the project and took it all in stride. He asked questions to make sure he understood my vision, yet made me aware of issues that might be problematic during the construction phase. It's been about two years since his company started working on my house and it is looking amazing! Please note, there was a delay in construction due to financial issues on my part, but Mr. Mahvi was always ready to proceed. This is the first time I have ever gutted a house and Mr. Mahvi was very patient with me, explaining central heating/AC, plumbing and electrical systems, even going with me to Lowe's to help me pick out tile and helping me by buying surplus building materials from auctions. Even though this has been a substantial project, I have never been happier with a choice I've made. Mr. Mahvi brings experience, intelligence and innovation to the project site that is truly invaluable.

+ -1 moreVery polite; the only nice thing I can report. Work took around 5 months to complete. Quality of work was average at best; cut many corners. Rarely kept any promise (I'll be here tomorrow...rarely showed up). His employees more likely to show up, if anybody showed up at all. To be fair, overall rating maybe a C-
Description of Work: Complete remodel of kitchen, to include: removed wall, rerouted plumbing, installed all cabinets, tiled floor. Complete remodel of both bathrooms, to include: new tile, replaced all plumbing(supply and waste), replaced bath and shower. Also, replaced all plumbing supply lines throughout house.
