They were really good. They came promptly. They had to fix a botched job. They had to use a product that was new to them, but they handled the job with no problems. I would definitely recommend them.

Overall, it went very well. There was a delay due to uneven floor discovered upon removal of parquet which necessitated a layer of filler to even out the whole room and which added almost a week onto the process and a few thousand dollars but they met us half way.

They came out on time. They were professional. They gave me a bit higher price, and when I mentioned the competition they came down a bit on their price. They are willing to do the work for me over Thanksgiving holiday and I have chosen them to do so.

He was really good because he told me I really didn't need anything done with my floors. It was an honest assessment. He priced out three different options for me. He said they looked pretty good and I wouldn't necessarily need to get anything done.

Universal was excellent! Our floors are from 1913 and had only been sanded once, the original time. They were very careful not to sand too much and did an excellent job. We almost cried when we saw the floors, they looked as good as new! They helped us pick a color stain and gave us advice as to how to care for the floors in the next few days. They were also spot on with the estimate of price and how long the job would take. We will use Universal again whenever we move! I would trust them with any floor.

Crew arrived promptly. One spoke a little English. However, communication was not a problem. They very quickly moved furniture, pulled out old wall-to-wall carpeting (and cut it up and took it away), cleaned the concrete floor and installed the new engineered wood floor. Extremely energetic workers -- evidently all from Korea. Very thorough clean up. They even rolled out a new rug and then returned furniture to original position. Supervisor showed up just as they were finishing. He agree that a minor issue should be corrected regarding the installation of the shoe molding at a doorway and this was done without any grumbling or dark looks. Workers arrived promptly as promised at 8 a.m. and the room and hallway had a new floor and was "back in business" by noon. What a pleasant surprise. Final bill was exactly what we expected.

Bob Bittner came to look at our floors and gave me an estimate. We talked about 2 or 3 coats for protection and about the special shoe molding that Universal Floors uses. Bob mentioned that they could put the shoe molding in the front foyer as well so that it would be continuous (the foyer has ceramic tile). I was happy that he mentioned that because I would not have thought about it. The two techs showed up on time and immediately began to put up protective plastic across the doorways to prevent dust. I asked one of the men about the samples of the different stains and he said that he would show us in about 15 - 20 minutes. I didn't realize that he actually sanded a section of our floor and then brushed all 3 stains on our floor so that we could pick the stain that we liked. The two techs were very efficient and professional. Since we wanted 3 protective coats, they even showed up on July 4 to finish the job so that the floors would dry thoroughly before our scheduled move on July 7. The floors look absolutely beautiful and we really like the shoe molding that was used. We've received many compliments on how beautiful our floors are and, they told us not to place rugs on the floors for 2 weeks. We were VERY happy that they advised us because, otherwise, we would not have known and we could have marked the floors. I read reviews on several companies before going with Universal Floors. Their website was very informative and it was obvious that they had the expertise needed to do the top-quality refinishing that we wanted. We were very pleased with the high quality of workmanship. We would recommend Universal Floors without hesitation. I would also like to add that everyone that answers the phone is helpful and pleasant. They go out of their way to provide customer satisfaction and they do a very good job of it! Thank you for making the floors in our home beautiful!

The guys were great. They came to our new house to do a review and provide an estimate - it was within the range we expected. They were able to accommodate our schedules and preferred dates AND allowed us to provide our own floor finishing material (my husband's parents own their own hardwood flooring business in NM). The floors look AMAZING!! All in all, they were on-target with time, results, and quality, and completed the work within that price.

They showed up on time to do the work. They just did are main floor for us. They told us how long it would take for the finish to dry. They cleaned up everything when they were done.

They did a great job! They showed up on time when they said they would. The workers professional, friendly and courteous. The work took two days to complete. They cleaned up at the end of the first day as well as at the end of the job. I would use them again and would also recommend them.

My contact, Tim, was extremely responsive and helpful. Although we were never able to find a time for an in-person estimate (due to our own scheduling limitations), Tim was able to provide a detailed, itemized estimate based on measurements that I provided. He explained the process of refinishing, provided guidance on stains and finishes, and explained carefully how to care for the floor. He returned my calls very promptly, and was very pleasant to deal with. He was also flexible on pricing, and worked with me to reduce his original estimate as much as he thought possible. Although his final estimate was still more expensive than some of our other estimates, I chose Universal Floors based on their excellent reputation and Tim's professional manner. The workers were prompt and neat, and they did an excellent job. The floors look great, the color is even and the shoe molding was installed expertly.

From all the reviews we'd seen, we knew it was going to be expensive (it was) but also that we'd have a great finished product (which we did). We worked with Bob who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He came out for an estimate and showed us what the floor would look like after it was sanded and before it was stained to help us determine whether we wanted to stain it or not. Universal was able to schedule us within a week to do the work. The job took four days for three coats of finish. The one downside to the experience was Bob wasn't around for the actual work (at least when we were there), instead there were three guys who we'd never met before (though they still did a great job).

When we removed the laminate, there were six small patches that needed repair (none larger than a single piece of 8 1/2 by 11 paper). To our amazement, Universal estimated that 20 sq ft of floor would need repair and increased our estimate by $600. Universal explained that the wood would need to be custom-milled to match our floors as closely as possible and that much more wood would be needed beyond the area needing repair. Ultimately, the repaired wood totaled only 4 sq feet. Since this was just 20% of the estimate, I asked that the original $600 repair estimate be reduced to $120. They refused and countered with $475. Adding to our disappointment with the pricing, the quality of the repair was low. After telling me that the hefty repair price was necessary because of all the work needed for a quality match to the repaired wood, the match was quite poor. See the attached picture of the largest repaired patch. For any hardwood floor repair, I wouldn't recommend Universal.

Great! We were operating under a time crunch trying to have the floors in our new house refinished before the movers arrived. Sprigg was able to come out the day after we called, conduct a detailed inspection of the floors and provide us with an estimate. We chose to work with Universal Floors because we felt the estimate was within the expected range for the service, and they were also able to work within our time frame. They were able to complete the job well within our time frame, and did a thorough job of cleaning up all of the debris and dust. We were very pleased with the quality of their work - the floors look fantastic!

We requested an estimate for taking up our carpets and refinishing our hardwood floors. The estimator seemed very professional but they were unwilling either to take up the carpets or to take responsibility for keeping sawdust out of the rest of the house (putting up plastic sheeting on the doors). Also, their price was high compared to other estimates. We chose another contractor.

I called the sales representative and he accommodated my schedule and was able to meet me at my house during lunch for a quote. The work crew was very professional, arrived on time, and did a great job! I would hire them again.

I really appreciated the high quality of service at universal. Our rep "Tim Allen" was great, we had a small problem and he took care of it for us without any problem. They are not the cheapest in town but well worth it. I would recommend them to others in our area.

They protected my furniture and rugs, and polished my old wooden floors with efficiency and expertise. The price was more than reasonable and the result was outstanding.

We are very pleased with the result. They were very punctual and were done in 1 1/2 days which surprised us. They were very neat and clean and left very little dust. They did excellent work and we recommend them to anybody.

I had another company come in to install the hardwood flooring and they had made a mess of the project. Universal had to take up the blotched job the other company did and reinstall the wood properly. This company has done projects in some of our countries most valued historical buildings. They have a reputation for excellence. I would recommend them.

Universal was very responsive to my request for an estimate. The sales representative was professional and knowledgeable and when I decided to go ahead with the work, they were able to get the work scheduled quickly. The refinishing crew was personable, professional and efficient. They did a great job.

Very well. Showed up on time throughout the job. Work was well done. There was a small flaw in the floors that took some time to get them back to fix, but they did at no charge.

Thorough scheduling, preparation, and execution. Work was performed in a timely (about 7 business days) and quality manner in all respects. Several senior members of the company assessed the quality of the work at various times during the project. They sought our feedback as necessary (e.g., selection of special stain for stairs). The result was outstanding.

We only received an estimate, as it was too much for our budget. However, their customer service is phenomenal and their work, from all I can tell, would be top notch. As this is our first home, we do not have the funds to use such fine craftsmen. If you do, they appear to be worth it! We accepted another quote for $3,400.

We could not be more pleased with the superb job that Universal Floors did for us. The floor is absolutely beautiful! They paid close attention to what we wanted and got everything exactly right. There were no surprises. They were always there to answer any questions and offer advice. This is a truly professional group of people that stands behind their work. They are a little more expensive than some of the other companies out there, but they are worth every penny. I will definitely be calling them again in the future.
