I'm quite happy with the results; My floors were old and fragile and Universal Floors did a good job.

The new floor boards look great and are almost seamless in color and texture to our old 1920's oak. I think they have a warehouse of old wood so they have some vintage stock to choose from. This is great example of recycling. I was surprised when the guy who gave the estimate was not the one who showed up to do the work. Nonetheless, the guys who came did a great job, worked carefully and quickly, and cleaned up when they finished. Very pleased with the results. I may have paid more than I needed to, but this was the only company out of 4 that returned my inquiry, so they got the job!

I wasn't thrilled. It was expensive. They did a sloppy job. I wouldn't use them again. I found places where they didn't put the molding back. I find lots of spots that are uneven or badly done and parts that got onto white paint.

The hardwood floors looked great. The grim on the basement floors was a nasty film that I could not strip off by hand. It was rude. They used their big machines and grinded it away. They left a bit of a mess but they only charged me $200 for the basement. It was a much bigger job then they thought. Looked great afterwards. They were very flexible on timing. I had other contractors in the house and they had to work around them. Good guys, reasonable price and I will use them again.

I was very pleased with the work done by the Universal Floors team and very satisfied with the job done. They worked very efficiently and were careful to protect the surrounding area and furnishings.

I had a great experience with Universal. I went with them without even getting other estimates because I had two friends recommend Universal to me (both had gone with other companies first, and had to have the work redone). I wanted it done right and well the first time, their quote to me looked fair compared with other companies, so I went with them and am happy I did. My floors look amazing. I knew they'd look nicer but had no idea how well they'd look. The work only took 2-3 days and the staff was prompt and professional. They did a great job of cleaning up the carpet before they started and they managed to keep the place pretty free of dust and sand as they went along. One small item on our contract was not done (replacing a piece of wood in a door way) but that was rectified on my bill immediately (or I could've had them come out and fix that item, but had the tools to fix it myself).

Very professional, excellent advice re: options, flexible in providing samples. Quick, professional installation, but at top dollar price.

We wanted to have hardwood floor installed to match the existing floor before moving. Universal did very nice work both in installing the floor and matching the stairs to the pre-finished floors. Overall, we were very happy with the work. The process of getting the quote and contract finalized was somewhat tedious due to some issues Universal said they were having with their Internet connection (so correspondence by e-mail was not possible). Also, communication as to when the crews were going to show up was limited to a call the morning of -- there was one day I thought a crew was coming only to be told they were coming the following day.

They were great. Good service, good advice on maintenance. My mom has used them several times as well and they are consistently fantastic.

The company changed gears quickly when the job went from sand and refinish to new install. There was a holdup in ordering the wood which was a special order/backorder and not the fault of Universal. Bob Bittner was the crew chief and he was knowledgable and gave good advice as well as worked hard to instill realistic expectations for what could be accomplished. Wood got here and they did a super professional install. Because of furniture the job had to be completed in two stages and they did an really outstanding job on making the two sections match. Can't tell they were done in stages. Extremely happy with the new floors and recommend them to anyone wanting to do this kind of install. I would use them again in the future.

I am calling the recommended contractor to level our floor.

They have excellent customer service; they came out and helped me and they were very accommodating. The company worked with us to choose the stain color and they were also very flexible with the price. They were very competitive on price, very knowledgeable about the products, and could help us choose a product that was appropriate for our living situation. We have dogs and kids so they helped us find the best stain color and product. They were prompt and courteous and we are very pleased with the final product.

It was the third estimate I received, and was the lowest. Universal managed to install the flooring, after only a one week delay due to the blizzards in February 2009. The communication about the postponement (blizzard-related) was not a problem at all. Despite multiple feet of snow on the ground, they got here, with the bamboo, unloaded and installed my floors. The workmanship was high quality and the service was great. There were a couple of small things that I noticed in the days after the installation (sliding door sticking, threshold not firmly attached) and they came back to my house not once, but twice, until I was completely satisfied. I would definitely recommend Universal to others, and would use them again in a heartbeat.

The work went great. Universal gave me a quote in November 2009, but I had other renovation work to do first, so the floors weren't re-done until March 2010. They honored their original quote from November. Universal was one of the only companies to agree to do the work in two stages, because we had furnishings in the condo. They moved everything to the bedroom and did the rest, then moved all the furniture out of the bedroom to complete the job. They were relatively clean in terms of dust, but we still had to hire a cleaning crew to come in and thoroughly clean surfaces of dust when they were done. The floors throughout the condo look great, and they did a good job, finished on time, and were right on the estimate. They communicated promptly via phone and e-mail.

Did not hire Universal, as we opted for another company that gave a much lower estimate. We were very pleased with the work done by the other company.

It went exceptionally well. i was wary to re-stain my bamboo flooring because of the type of word. Universal Floors were the only ones that seemed to know what they were doing. The price was high but was in line with other estimates.

Very pleased. Everything was finished to a high quality standard, and they finished all work within 1 week (as contracted). My only complaint is they forgot to install some scotcha molding underneath the 2nd floor stairwell, but I called them up, and it was quickly resolved. Pricing was slightly higher than competitor's, but worth it.

They were very punctual and thorough. They noticed, for example, that the floor was missing a shoe molding and took the trouble to ask me if they should install it.

Everything they said that they would do, they did.

The experience was okay. They were pretty pricey and I had to call them back to clean up. There were stain marks on the woodwork. I don't know why they would have left that. I thought for the price they charged, they should have taken the time to clean that. I think they were 1/2 day late for showing up. The overall experience was not what I had expected. I would not call them again.

I was very impressed with them. The work was of high quality. There is no perceptible difference between the wood floor they refinished and the adjacent wood floor they installed new. It all just flows together in appearance -- and all looks beautiful. When I asked for work beyond that included in the initial estimate, after already having signed a contract tying me into having them do most of the work in my house, they did not at all take advantage of the situation, but quoted me a very reasonable price on the additional work. They showed up when they said they would, and finished the work in short order, and left nothing to be cleaned up.

Very well. South Lynn was punctual, and gave us a fair estimate for the work. They did a great job on the floors, which had been in poor shape. The crew was very professional and polite. We would certainly hire them again.

Excellent service. Did a great job with our hardwood floors, especially repairing some remodeling work the previous owner hadn't done correctly. When there was an issue our sales rep came right over to make sure the work was fixed.

This company was very pleasant to deal with and professional about showing up and doing the work. Part of the floor is pine and part is oak, so they were patient with us while choosing the right stains for the project. They did put some stain down in the wrong place and had no problem coming back and correcting it. Overall I would highly recommend them.

Very pleased. Our floors look great, they were right on with their estimate, and there was absolutely no mess--no dust, no trash, no nothing. We were thrilled.
