The Mandy and David Team

As promised by reviews, angies list, yelp, and several friends and neighbors, Mandy and David delivered. We could NOT be happier with their representation in our property sale in D.C. We trusted them from the get-to - they were very familiar with the market in DC and in different neighborhoods. They gave a fair and honest assessment of our property (which, happily, did not require all that much effort on our part to put it on the market), listened to what we had to say, and helped us surpass our goal sales price! Their support staff was also extremely helpful in helping us put together all of the paperwork and all those other 'nuisance' steps involved in the process. We have since then, and will continue to, HIGHLY recommend them to anyone we know that is selling in District. We had absolutely no complaints about our sale process! We also used the agency (though not Mandy or David specifically) to purchase property. Reviewed separately.

We used (were assigned) a more junior agent on their staff to assist us in the purchase of property in DC. Unfortunately, in hindsight, we do not look back with and quot;A+and quot; reviews, as we did with respect to our sale of property (used Mandy and David, could not have been happier, and reviewed them seperately!). Our agent was friendly and responsive, and a nice guy, but we found that generally we were teaching him more about neighborhoods in DC than he could teach us. Which was fine, we knew the areas in which we were willing to look. I think our biggest issue was that in spite of his best efforts not to do so we DID feel like he was pressuring us a bit to make a deal. It got to the point that houses became commodities and we felt that any time one and quot;checked the boxesand quot; he didn't understand why we weren't making offers. It wasn't a terrible experience in any respect, we give the overall experience a and quot;B,and quot; but when compared to our experience with Mandy and David in selling property, we don't look back and feel like we had an agent who really probed our priorities, was able to point out nuanced pros and cons, and really pushed us to make the best purchase decision. And when it comes to real estate transactions in pricey DC, that's not to be understated. We have had folks ask us since then if we would recommend our purchase agent, and unfortunately we are not able to do so.

I am writing in enthusiastic support of Donnell Kearney of The Mandy and David Team. Donnell is the “Greatest” realtor ever and I know that many people would say their realtor is great but Donnell is superb. In 2005, he sold my partner’s house on Capitol Hill far above asking price. In the summer of 2013 when I realized that I must have a house with a pool he convinced my partner and I to sell our house and it sold within 2 weeks being on the market at asking. To be honest, I didn’t think it would sell so quickly. But the team behind him took great photos, marketed the house unbelievably, and helped stage it so that it was impeccable. By the time they were finished, I fell back in love with the house – but it was time to move on. Prior to the house “officially” going on the market he had several people wanting to see it. Fast forward to December of 2013, Donnell learned of a pocket listing and quickly called my partner and I to look at it. Upon the first visit, I was in love and we put an offer on the house within 4 days. We had been looking at numerous houses since the summer but could not find the right house for us without having to bid $100k over asking price. Had this house actually been on the market it probably would have been a bidding war like many of the other houses that we wanted. In the end this is our house and we have our pool amongst many other things. Donnell’s tireless effort to ensure that he found the perfect house for my partner and I was amazing! He is perceptive, emphatic, and committed to his customers. I have never encountered a more capable or hard-working realtor and we have worked with other realtors in the past. So now, I am waiting to get a little settled in my new house so that Donnell can find me some investment property.

I used Debra Pearlstein from the team to purchase and sell several rental properties for me. She was excellent. She priced the ones for sale perfectly and got me top price. She followeed up on everything and kept me in the loop all the way through settlement. I recently purchased a 2 bedroom condo for myself as a second home at City Center. II originally wanted a one bedroom, but understanding my lifestyle, Debra convinced me to buy a 2 bedroom. Boy am I glad I did. I settled last month and absolutely love it. She was so right about my needs now and down the road. Once again, she kept on top of everything going on with my contract and the building itself for the entire year from contract signing through settlement. Debra is intuitive, smart, and a mazing to work with. I would highly recommend using her for any reall estate related need. The entire team at Mandy and David is awesome!

My wife and I had very high expectations for our real estate agents, we were buying our first home in DC- Mandy and David were simply amazing. We looked at over 20 homes, and along the way Mandy and David were patient, personable, and frank. It was obvious that they truly cared about helping us find the right home. I'm sure we gave them headaches, but they were nothing but supportive and positive along the way. They gave great recommendations for contractors, title companies, and other services. Our closing was easy and happened without any problems. Mandy and David were open about their different opinions which was much appreciated and really listened to us. Buying a home is SO STRESSFUL but Mandy and David were there every step of the way with us. We will call on them when it's time to see our new home.

We had a pretty good sense of what we wanted in a home (walkability to Metro being priority number one; 3 bdr/2ba being second) and had a limited-to-moderate size budget by crazy DC area standards for what we were looking for (target budget: $400k, max: $500k). Many realtors in this area are snooty and less attentive to clients that have "lower" budgets, but Susan treated us like A-list clients which was awesome! We had to reiterate a few times that walkability to Metro was the key factor when we were shown some houses too far out from public transportation, but Susan found some great properties for us to look at. We lost the first house we bid on (thankfully, in retrospect because we got much more house in a much nicer neighborhood in the end). But the first bidding experience was illuminating. Susan had seen this cute little house open up during the work week and recommended we drop everything to go see it to beat the weekend house hunters. We ignored that and went and saw it on Sunday and really liked it and put a bid in. Unfortunately, several other people saw it that weekend and put bids in as well and we lost. So we learned from that experience to 1) trust Susan's judgment and 2) if you see a hot property move fast to lock it down (which is against my personal philosophy of taking your time for big decisions, but the DC market doesn't necessarily let you work that way). One minor annoyance is that the online realtor tool that Hounshell uses doesn't let you do a lot of your own searching from the MLS list (your agent has to pull everything for you). I think they plan to change the system they use, so this may be a temporary issue. Since I was obsessed with the house hunting process, I ended up checking Redfin daily since it is really easy for the lay person to search and saw a property pop up in the neighborhood we had been waiting for something to open up in. Even though I found the property we bought myself, I am convinced we would not have gotten the house without Susan. She dropped everything and went to preview the house that morning and gave it the thumbs up and told us to get over there asap. My husband was able to go immediately and check it out and we put an offer in immediately (without me having actually seen it, because I could not escape work that quickly! That's how much I trusted my husband and Susan's judgment). What also made Susan invaluable is that she knows how to close a deal quickly and gave us key advice to make our offer as strong as possible so that the buyers would not be tempted to let the property sit and get into a bidding war. If we ever buy another house we will definitely use Susan!

Mandy Mills and David Getson were professional, thorough, patient, responsive and upbeat throughout the entire process. If neither of them was available, they made sure someone on their team was there for us. They guided us through each of the steps and all their referrals (lender, home inspector, title company) were just like them; a dream to work with. The best complement came from the seller's agent: he plans to hire them when he buys a house.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Finding a place to live is quite a stressful process and I'm sure that I was not the easiest client to deal with. But Mandy and David could not have been more patient or helpful. And Megan did an excellent job of helping me through the purchase process, which was even more stressful with all the countering, contingencies, etc. If you want to find the house of your dreams, you should use this company!

It was great. They were effective, creative and totally available. Working with a team you get twice the bang for your buck! They also sold our house in just 3 weeks in this market - and they worked very hard. I highly recommend them.
