Julio came out 4 days after I called to schedule the work (that was the earliest date that worked for our schedules). He fixed the leak, explained the problem, offered practical tips to address similar issues going forward, and even caught the fact that I initially over-paid with my check. We really appreciated his punctuality and communication skills.

The good: Alex showed up approximately on time (beltway traffic - understandable) and got to work quickly. He moved fast, and got the job done in an hour. I like that he respected the clock. He answered my questions and was a friendly guy. Kudos. The not-so-good: I was surprised that there was a charge for $25 for the use of the snake. I've never had a service call where I was charged for the use of routine tools or equipment. I fix most stuff myself usually, so maybe this is common? I'll give them a B on price: $75 service call, $165/hr, $25 for machine time. - I'd think that machine wear and tear would be overhead and covered by the hourly rate. Not a big deal, just annoying.

We discovered a serious sewage drain backup in our basement bathroom. It was a Monday holiday, with seven inches of snow forecast for Tuesday, and we were panicked. Stevens Co. was willing to come as quickly as possible and sent one worker, who determined he could not do the job alone. A second team was dispatched and came with the necessary equipment and got the pipe working and the water draining properly. The employees all were very professional and did a good job - and gave us good advice on what we needed to keep in mind in taking the next step in cleaning up. I would not hesitate to call them again.

They are old time plumbers--skill, patience, honesty and looking for repeat business with fair prices . They send the right person the first time, it is not what i experience all too often that I need to take time off work for multiple visits because the companies send their most experienced employees only after the less experienced cannot solve the problem.

It was emergency, they promised to ring back in the morning with follow up and never did!

The rusty bolts finally broke and the water closet fell and hit him in the head. The company only charged for a half hour and offered to install a new toilet for free. Very generous for something not thier fault.

Accurate assessment of the problem; efficient delivery; clean; pleasant personality. Overall, we would definitely use them again for future needs.

I had called several plumbers that were on Angie's list as doing business in DC. When I said I wanted bathroom plumbing redone for a renovation and wanted it done under permit, they wouldn't take the job. Stevens said "no problem" and even helped walk me through the permit process. When I said I needed to leave for work at 8:00, the project lead/salesman came himself to make sure I could tell him what I needed done and then we would relay to the plumber once he arrived about 9:00 (due to a previously scheduled appt). Everything about dealing with Stevens has been pleasant and easy. They arrive when they say they will arrive. They communicate clearly and kindly. And they take the time to educate me on things that are important to my job. Stevens will return next week to finish my bathroom work and I look forward to it because I know it will be another pleasant experience. And it has been such an easy time working with Stevens, I have asked them install my new water heater. Use Stevens, can't recommend them enough.

Joe came and fixed the problem in 45 minutes. Toilet needed new tank seal since old one was corroded. Joe was very professional and polite. I'll definitely use them again for any other plumbing needs.

We had an issue with our toilet. A hair roller fell down in it and was flushed down, but got stuck about halfway down. Eventually, the out-going water pressure was close to non-existent. I couldn't free the debris with my personal auger, so I had to call Stevens at around 10:30 that night for an emergency visit. I first talked to their after-hours answering service, who took my "case" and forwarded it to the service tech that was on call that night. I received a call back from the tech in about 10 minutes after that and he gave me a quote on the spot and said he can be here as soon as he could. The tech arrived in about half and hour and fixed it in about 10 minutes! He was very professional and polite. Aside from the emergency fee that they charged for an after hours call (which was considerably lower than their competitors, btw), they were quite reasonable and honest. I will absolutely be a return customer and would recommend Stevens Co. to anyone needing a plumber!

Everything worked like clockwork. The person answering the phone was very nice and responsive. I got an appointment for the exact time I wanted. The plumber arrived when he said he would. Even though the time went over the 30 minute mark by a few minutes, I was not charged extra and he didn't charge for the small part that was needed to fix the faucet. He was very nice and really seemed like he wanted to make sure that everything got fixed to my satisfaction, which it was. I would recommend them and will make them my plumbers of choice the next time I need work done.

These guys were great. On the phone they were friendly, efficient and helpful. They made sure they could come and even found an early appointment opening. In person the plumber was also very friendly and professional. He did his job promptly and with great care. I highly recommend their work and will call them for future jobs on my property and my rental units.

I thought the job was well done . The plumber arrived on time and completed the work in a reasonable amount of time. He was professional and courteous. He also removed the debris from the job. I did also request an estimate for installing a backup battery for my sump pump. This job was handled by a different plumber who came another day (don't remember the date). An estimate was received which was more than I had anticipated. After talking with the estimator, he was to get back to me with further details but I've yet to hear from him. This probably requires a separate rating but I have not done so because I can't remember the date.

We were very pleased, the gentleman arrived on time. He gave an estimate time and cost to complete the work, and he was within the quote. He was very professional and friendly.

I called Stevens when my hot water faucet was very loose and could not be turned off. They warned me that they were very busy that day, but would fit me in. A plumber arrived around 5 pm and temporarily fixed the problem, but said he would have to order specific parts to finish the job. They returned a week later and replaced the tub fixtures and were very careful to make sure that the work was satisfactory. THey left the bathroom clean and were happy to explain the work. I would use them again. They were very professional and gave me a discount for mentioning Angie's list.

First thunderstorm of the season revealed a thoroughly clogged drain, despite fact that work had been done on the drain a few months ago. I called at 8:30 a.m., technician arrived by 10. He had to deal with several problems due to poor workmanship of previous contractor, then hit what seemed to be an impassable clog. But technician persisted, and within 30 minutes cleared out chunks of cement and a wiffle ball, which must have been there for 10 years!

The plumber showed up on time and prepared. I had a leaking waste drain that was partially submerged in concrete. It was in a very tight spot where access was limited to the waste drain side of the tub. The plumber was able to pound through the concrete with a hammer gun, remove the waste drain, and install a new one without removing the tub. It was a little expensive, but it saved me a lot of time and aggravation.

Great. Far better than I expected. Called at around 9 am. Because of cancellation they were here around 10:45.

They were very responsive and professional. The service was completed quickly and efficiently.

The whole process was was a positive experience.

He went above and beyond. He did quality work and was very pleasant to deal with. He didn't take too long and was reasonable priced.

I have had a wonderful previous experience with Stevens but...they are under new management and it has changed. In the past, I had plumbing and draining service that was wonderful and rated A+. This time, I called and they said they would call me back but I waited a week for a reply and then called. At the time, they mentioned there was new management and they had been busy. They did set up an appointment to check on a grill plumbing line quickly and were able to schedule me soon that week. When the guy came over, he did some measurements and called me back and said it wasn't possible. This was not their fault but he suggested I get a conversion kit from Sears. Really easy he said and it would cost $150 to re-convert grill back to propane. I went to the website and have still not found the conversion kit he mentioned was so easy. For 1/2 hour project, $150 does seem a bit steep. I am in the market for a new plumber as Stevens Co was my favorite until now. Sorry the management change has made this change.
