Excellent. I called for an appointment and was scheduled for work the next day. Stevens sent a highly knowledgeable and experienced plumber, Will, who arrived on-time. Stevens called to communicate that Will was en route and he arrived within 25-30 minutes. Will worked quickly and efficiently. The price was very reasonable.

WOW! I was impressed. This happened over a weekend -- in the evening. I call two other well know DC plumbers. I talked to dispatchers at both. One never called back and the other after about an hour. So, I searched further and found D.H. Stevens. They were very busy and I did have to call a second time. However, soon after that a crew chief (Stan) called me. I explained what I thought was wrong; after my explanation, he told me exactly what was wrong and gave me suggestions for fixing the problem. I thought that worked; however, by the time we had figured out it that it didn't, it was after midnight. I called early on Sunday morning. They sent a technician out (Alex). He immediately set to work. He worked quickly and expertly. He was extremely professional and pleasant to deal with. Stevens has a new customer!

The plumber from Stevens came out and within seconds diagnosed the problem as a worn washer . He replaced it in a couple of minutes. I assume that many other plumbers would have strung this our and pretended that it was a much more intensive fix. I am glad that I called Stevens.

I am so thankful for Richard and Stevens Co! I had spent nearly 3 weeks going back and forth with a contractor trying to get my leaking main water valve repaired. I was told by the contractor that I needed to shut off the water to the house and replace the valve. Finally, the leak was getting worse and I was exhausted with my contractor, so I called Stevens Co and I am SO GLAD I did. Richard called me back within an hour of me leaving a message, and over the phone, he told me what was wrong and how to fix it myself. It turned out to be a simple 30-second fix for something that would have cost me $300 and hours/days more of waiting. From now on, Stevens Co is my plumber.

He was very professional and knowledge of the problem. It took him 1/2 hour to plunge clear the backup with a pop.

Alejandro was neat, polite, and helpful. He brought with him all the tools and parts he needed based only on knowing that the toilet tank was leaking. I have used the Stevens Co in the past and will do so the next time I need a plumber. I would like to add that I live in a 168 unit condo in downtown DC, and the Stevens Co, I am told by our desk people, is by far the most often used plumbing company.

Initial contact to complain of kitchen sink and directly below, the laundry sink slow drains. Appointment was made the following afternoon, costs given and the technician showed up between the time allotted. He checked the kitchen sink first and declared it OK. He then proceeded to the laundry sink, found it needed to be snaked to clear the slow drain. After the work was done, he took his equipment back to his van & said he'll call the office for the amount. Charged for the amount given over the phone and I balked at this since no work was done in the kitchen. The tech called and spoke with a Mr. Mike Carlson, handed the phone to me and I asked for a lower amount since no kitchen was done. Mr. Carlson agreed and lowered the cost plus the discount of being an Angie's list member. Kudos to this company for listening to the consumer.

I was reminded today of how great their service is and wanted to write something before I forgot. It was easy to schedule. The visit, they and called to let me know when they were about a half hour away. The technician knew what he was doing and got the job done quickly. Once again, great service from the company. I highly recommend them!

Thursday night (it was a cold and snowy night), a pipe burst in my finished basement. After turning off the whole house water cut off valve, I tried to find a plumber who could fix it. After several failed attempts to reach plumbers I'd dealt with, Stevens had someone answer the phones. Their dispatcher called a few minutes later, and by some miracle, Alex and Dave showed up on my doorstep. The quickly diagnosed the problem, and within an hour it was fixed. Their rate was very reasonable, especially for night emergency service. I highly recommend them without reservation.

He explained to me that the pipes were old and deteriorated, everything else were fine unfortunately the one over the leaving room was the one that leaked.

The plumber diagnosed the problem by turning off the hot water to the whole house, which would normally force cold water into the toilet, if there was a cold water pipe connected. However, no cold water flowed into the toilet. He also checked if there was a conflict with the shower in the master bath, but there wasn't. He told me that he would have to come out again and determine if there is a cold water pipe running from in the wall at all or if they need to run a new line to the toilet, which would require opening some walls. He advised not to use the toilet with hot water because it can melt the wax ring and cause water to leak through the floor and into the kitchen ceiling below. He provided an estimate, which was more than I initially expected, but I've used Stevens before and am satisfied with their work.

My toilet wasn't flushing. The first service tech made some repairs but said it was an old toilet and if it continued to give problems he recommended replacing it $165. A week later the toilet wasn't flushing again and we scheduled a replacement toilet $510. The next day after replacing the toilet the brand new toilet clogged. Stevens sent someone again saying they would waive the service fee but still charge me for labor which was frustrating but they were offering to send someone same day so I said ok. The service tech spent about an hour and said he had no clue why the new toilet wasn't working. He didn't charge me anything but I was pretty frustrated. I contacted 2 other "drain specialist" companies - both asked me if a camera had been dropped - I said no - I hired one to come out and drop a camera and a belly in my pipe was found. But that company charged me a ton and then told me they weren't licensed in DC to do pipe repairs so I wasn't thrilled with them either. I hesitantly called Stevens back and with my problem diagnosed and finally got a service tech (Billy) to come out and make some progress. Billy dropped a camera, confirmed the belly, cut a hole to look at the pipes and took enough notes to give a quote ($355 visit). Then Billy came back and did the whole day repair ($1550). I was impressed with Billy - he really seemed knowledgeable about drains and despite my naivety about drains he explained the problem and his work as he progressed. Apparently it is very rare for interior pipes to develop a belly without something causing a disturbance like renovations etc. Regardless, I really wish one of the first three repair techs had dropped a camera to make sure the drains under the toilet were working - would have saved me a lot of time and money. Wish I had known to request a camera earlier - part of the reason I'm posting this review is to inform others! It's been over a month since Billy's major repair and we haven't had any problems since.

Helped me to address problem first, then was prompt and good when that option didn't work.

I called on Friday, April 24, 2015, and requested an appointment to fix one of the sinks in a double vanity in my house. The man who answered the call told me that all of the appointment slots for Monday, April 27, 2015, were free. He reiterated the service fees several times--$75 just to show up and all other work is billed in 30 minute increments. I requested the appointment time slot of 12-2 pm and it was confirmed by the customer service person on the telephone. I was also told I would receive a phone call on Monday when the plumber was about 30 minutes away. On Monday, April 27, 2015, I waited until 2:02 pm and then called the vendor. The first person who answered the phone could not tell me what happened with my appointment and I was transferred to the "manager." When I told the manager why I was calling, he said "uh, we're running behind. You're next on the list." I told him I needed to cancel the appointment because this was past my allotted timeslot. He said fine and hung up the phone. The tone on Friday and the way the staff reacted on Monday said to me that they were not concerned with losing my business. I do not recommend this company based on my experience.

The technician showed up within the timeframe that we agreed on and was able to clear the blockage shortly after arrival. He was courteous and quite professional. We will be calling them again when something else backs up.

They had to come back because the work wasn't done right. I would not recommend them. It's a mess. He told me that it had to stay as it was. He didn't want to fool with it because, it was going to be too much work. He said that he would get back to me and he didn't. I don't think he wanted to do it so he gave me an excuse.

Julio was prompt, friendly, efficient, and helpful in giving us advice on how to prevent this problem in the future. In addition, I was pretty happy I could schedule the service on my first call to them for later in the week.

I called Stevens after-hours about a burst pipe and (in this very busy time of year) they sent Julio within a half hour. The service was efficient and Julio was very helpful in giving tips about preventing future issues. Extremely happy with the service--first time I've used Stevens and I will be using them again.

I called Stevens on one of the coldest days of the year when bursting water pipes were happening all over the DMV. John and Joe scheduled someone to come out and take a look. Tommy arrived ahead of schedule and did a !st class job in repairing and replacing the water lines. Stevens and Co. is the ONLY plumbing and heating outfit I will ever use. Don't forget to use your Angie's List coupon!

I came home to every homeowners worst nightmare last night - walked in the front door of my house to the sound of running water. A burst water pipe was reeking havoc, and after quickly shutting off the water main and investigating the problem I began calling plumbers - with the cold weather in DC a lot of other people were having the same issue and it was hard to find someone who could commit to coming out (they were all SUPER busy), but Mark at Stevens Co. fit me into their schedule the following morning (on a Saturday no less) and linked me up with Pat, who showed up promptly this morning and dove right in. My broken pipes are now capped and while there's going to be additional work that needs to be done, I'm thankful they were so responsive, professional and helpful. Major kudos to Pat for his willingness to get into a wet crawl space and dig through insulation (and some walls) to find and cap the problem pipes.

It was a lot of work to find the water source in my front hall closet, run the line from the former hot water tank in one corner of my kitchen to the other side. Install the tankless hot water heater in the washing closet. The electrician had to upgrade my electrical capacity and run the wire into the closet. The washer/dryer needed to be moved a few times to work in the washer closet. I had to hire someone to drywall where the wall was cut to run the various lines. The new hot water heater works very well. The new unit runs close to my washer/dryer unit and may be a problem in the future if I need to purchase a new washer/dryer since they are making them higher. I hope that won't happen for a long time. The plumber agent I worked with had one of his workers do the first day of work, the electrician came the second day and then, the plumber worked some more - and after the dry wall was repaired. He coordinated the inspection as we had a license to do this work.

The plumber was a bit behind time because of problems at previous job(s) but completed my job in a professional and courteous manner. I've used this company before and would not hesitate to hire them again or to recommend their services to others.
