The service technician was very polite and was able to identify the problem quickly. He had the necessary part on hand, so was also able to go ahead and complete the repair. My only complaint was that the bill was not itemized, so it was not clear exactly how much the labor and parts and Angie's list discount were. It was all rolled together into one total amount. I would have liked to see the various costs and discount broken out.

They were efficient -- they had someone there within a day and fixed the problem quickly, giving us a full explanation and choice of part quality. The dryer is now fixed.
Description of Work: My dryer was not working -- the power worked but it would not heat up. We suspected the problem was with the thermal fuse and in fact it was. The repairman quickly figured it out and fixed it that day.

Very badly. Bait and switch. The dispatcher said they would honor the Angies List coupon and then the technician told me they would not. He sad they wouldn't do a service call on a "high end" appliance (Sub Zero) and honor the coupon. These people are dishonest

We do work on Sub-Zero refrigerator this all misunderstanding service tech just confirmed the service call with you. $49.95 is a service call for regular appliances and it doesn't apply on high end appliance. Dispatcher already told you a service call and $40 is a coupon so please read all the coupon so it wont confuse you.

I have used Service Master on several occasions as follows: In May 2014 my electric clothes dryer suddenly stopped drying our clothes after experiencing degraded performance for a few months . We called Service Master and received prompt service. Our technician Mandeep "Manni" quickly diagnosed the problem as the dryer's timer part. He ordered the parts, and returned two days later and successfully installed the part and got our dryer back up and running and he even reattached the dryer vent hose that had fallen-off the wall receptacle when I was trying to move the dryer at no charge. This visit cost us $265 (parts/shipping and labor/trip charge-$49.95). In a March 2014 visit to my home Manni very quickly determined the problem with my refrigerator/freezer's in door water dispenser to be a frozen water line in the freezer?s door he indicated this happens from time to time based on the coldness settings, and that no repair was needed. We simply emptied the freezer out into our second freezer and left the door open for about an hour and the water line un-froze and we were back up and running at no charge (other than the $39.95 trip charge for the technician to come out). In 2013 Service Master's technician Manni first visited my hose to fix our clothes dryer he quickly determined the problem to simplybe that the belt had slipped off the drum, there was no charge other than the $39.95 trip charge. Our technician Manni has handled all my services with Service Master as he covers my geographical area. Manni is an experienced technician and he is a polite and courteous professional and it is a pleasure to have him in our home.
Description of Work: I have used Service Master on several occasions. Most recently in May 2014 when my clothes dryer stopped working. Previously in March 2014 for a freezer in door ice maker/water dispenser issue, and once before in 2013 for my clothes dryer belt.

Our Kenmore stacking dryer was making a terrible squeaking noise during the first minute or two or startup. Lucky, the technician, came out within a couple of hours and replaced a bearing. Problem fixed. We're very happy.

A complete disaster. Don't ever use this company. The technician fried the control panel on my range because he worked on the wiring without turning off the electrical power. A new range is $3,000. A new control panel is $700 but cannot be installed because for some reason the technician spliced the wiring to the control panel and a new wiring harness is unavailable. So the stove is trash now. I had called the company to fix the igniter on my grill on top of the stove. Not only did they fail to fix that, they ruined the oven completely. Any technician who would work on the electical wiring in a stove without turning off the power is completely incompetent. I have called the company several times and explained the situation. Each time "Mannie" promises to get back to me and does not call back. Here is the nightmare Service Master put me through. The grill on the top of my Jenn Air range was not automatically lighting so I called Service Master to repair it. The first guy stood around scratching his head and said he had no idea how to fix it. The second guy came and said it was the igniter and he would have to order the part. He returned a few days later with the part, but that did not solve the problem. While he was there he spliced several wires leading to the control panel, for some unknown reason. I asked him if he wanted me to turn of the power to the stove and he said no, he did this all the time. A few minutes later he shocked himself. It turns out that he touched a live wire to my control panel. After he left, the oven light would not go off. I called him and he returned a few days later and took the light bulb out. I told him that did not exactly resolve the problem. He stayed for 45 minutes but could not figure out what had happend. So, four visits from Service Master and a completely destroyed stove. I had another technician look at the stove and he saw that the Service Master technician had spliced wires on the main wiring harness and told me that the control panel had been fried. The wiring harness is unavailable, and so the stove cannot be fixed. The new company refused to work on the wires because they said Service Master had created a fire hazard by splicing the wires. I called another company and they also refused to work on the wires. I called "Mannie" at Service Master and explained what happened. He said he would talk to the technician and call me back. He has not called back. He suggested it was because mice had chewed on the wires, but the control panel had been working perfectly before and I could see where he spliced the wires and put the little orange caps on the ends. No other company has ever worked on this stove, which otherwise was in perfectly good condition. It was a very high end, dual fuel Jenn Air range that is now destroyed.
Description of Work: I call Master Service to repair the igniter on the grill of my Jenn Air Duel Fuel Range.

Customer called us regarding igniter not working. Our technician went there and diagnosed that it needs new spark igniter, and spark switch. Spark switch was no longer available and spark igniter was in stock. Technician did not charge any service charge ($49.95) to the customer. Service technician suggested the customer to get a new stove since the stove was atleast 20-25 years old (technician found the age through the model and serial number on the stove). After that customer called the office and said that she wasn’t satisfied with the previous technician. This time we sent another technician (our senior technician). Upon diagnosis he found igniter was bad and also power was missing to the igniter. Technician did not turn off the power while opening the panel he heard the spark and found that wires were chewed up by the mice form several spots. He showed and explained that to the customer. He put electrical tape where mice damage was minor and took the piece out where it was all major and connected the wires with wire nut. Replacing igniter didn’t work and we needed igniter switch, which was no longer available, so we couldn’t finish the job. We never charged the customer for all this work. After couple of days we receive call from customer again saying now light in the oven stays on. We scheduled an appointment to send tech out there again to look at it. Tech called the customer 30mins before arriving. When technician arrived customer said she has to leave and didn’t let technician look at the stove. Customer never called us back to schedule an appointment again. She called after 10days saying that she called another company and had her door switch repaired and want us to pay for the bill. This was a door switch part failure which happened due to age of the stove, not by sparking of the wires. Also we would have done it for free if she had let the technician diagnose it. We are not responsible for any payment on repair done by third company without our knowledge or agreement to pay for the repair. If you need any other information please contact me at 703-822-5030.

Manni was speedy to set an appointment and come do the repair. He pointed out that the part I just had replaced (pressure reg valve) was leaking and, once he removed it, he noticed that it was the wrong part. The previous repair was done by DMV Appliance Repair with the part for another machine taped to sort of fit mine and leave the heated, sparking electrical part sitting raw on my floor. (!!!!!!!) He swapped that part for the proper part and was in and out of the house within 30 minutes. I had a part I'd ordered online from the manufacturer and he not only used that part after verifying it was the correct one, he gave me a discounted rate since he didn't have to supply the part himself. Yes, I'd use him again.

I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. The technician called in advance to alert me to his arrival time. He worked quickly to diagnose the problem. He did not have the part, but called me a few hours later to let me know he would have the part the next day and to give me a quote for the cost of parts and labor. We scheduled the next appointment immediately and when he arrived he finished the job quickly. He was very pleasant.

We have a Whirlpool Gold Fridge with a bottom freezer that is a little over a year old. As soon as the warranty expired pools of water began forming on the floor. Because this was not the first issue with it, I did not want to pay for a warranty extension. I called Service Master on Friday afternoon and I was on the schedule for Monday morning. The technician had seen the problem 100 times before so knew exactly what was wrong and was able to fix it on the spot. In 45 minutes he had de-iced and cleared the lines. I am very happy with the service provided and would call them for any other appliance issues. I plan to update the review in a couple of months to check in with whether the problem comes back.
Description of Work: Unclog drain lines in refrigerator and make the drain a little bigger, clear out the ice build up in the freezer.

Originally came out on January 3rd to diagnose what went wrong with my oven/range. Service fee was $49.95. Lucky (service tech) determined that the control panel basically was fried and needed to be replaced. He called me the next day with a quote and we scheduled the work for the following weekend. They had a Angieslist coupon which waived the service fee and also provided an additional $40 off. He was a bit late for his appointment but when he got here he quickly repaired the oven and tested to make sure everything worked properly. I would highly recommend this company for future repairs.

My dishwasher stopped working on a Saturday around 1:30 PM. No water was entering the dishwasher but it still went through the full cycle without water. I used Angie's list to find a repair service. My goal was to find a repair service that was rated "A" but could fix my issue the same day. I called a few appliance repair places and none could come until Monday or Tuesday. Service Master originally told me Monday but then called me back and said they would send someone within 90 minutes. The service repairman, named Lucky, came out and was very professional. He looked at a few things and told me the motor was not working properly and that it had to be replace. It was approximately $450 to replace the motor. I was not thrilled as it was only 8 years old. After deciding to replace the motor rather than the dishwasher, Lucky said he would call me on Monday with the actual cost. He did call and we scheduled an appointment for Tuesday. Lucky arrived Tuesday with the motor but said he thought about my problem and wanted to try another option first. He opened the motor and found multiple pieces of glass and other objects by the chopper which caused the chopper to get stuck, ultimately preventing the motor from working. He replaced the chopper and saved me around $200 by thinking through the initial root cause. Lucky also provided me a few tips to get the dishwasher to perform more efficiently.I would highly recommend Service Master for their punctuality and professionalism.

The repair person began by showing up promptly at the beginning of the time window given by their office, after calling half an hour beforehand as promised. He took our furnace through its paces after asking several questions about what had and had not worked (for example: the thermostat did flip it on, but it failed to ignite). It only took him a few minutes to diagnose and correct the issue with an internal thermostat, which seemed rather simple at first glance but wasn't something any of my internet sleuthing had suggested might be the cause. I thought the price was quite reasonable given the speedy result and I would consider using them again when we need to repair our aging system. That was another thing I appreciated about the service provided. The technician reminded us that our system is quite old (20+ years) but didn't hard sell us to replace anything.

Our Kenmore Dryer stopped working in that the heating element came on but the drum did not turn. The technician was able to come out the same day. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly and had the parts with him in his van. We have our dryer working again the day after it stopped working which makes us happy since we had a load of wet clothes that we could not dry until the unit was fixed.

First, they actually are 24/7. Someone answered the phone at 11 pm and gave me a service window for the next day. This was fantastic! Second, the guy actually called half an hour before showing up, as promised, and then came out. No delays or problems. Finally, I really appreciated the honesty in giving me an estimate for them doing the repairs and also explaining exactly what needed to be done, so I had the option of doing it myself. Very happy!
Description of Work: My dishwasher stopped working right after I'd done a minor home repair. Rather than try to figure it out myself, I called Service Master. Service Master was terrific! They were able to schedule for a technician to come the next day. They provided a 3-hour window in which the technician would arrive and said the tech would call me 30 minutes prior to his arrival. Lucky, the technician called 30-40 minutes prior to arriving and showed up exactly as scheduled. He was very professional and polite. And wasn't fazed by my dogs barking. He asked about the problem and immediately got to work. He had our oven taken apart it less than 5 minutes. He found the cause of our oven not heating as a bad igniter and thankfully had a replacement part. The entire service took probably 30 minutes. I feel the price was a little high. However, given that this is Montgomery County, which is typically expensive for services, it was just a couple days prior to Thanksgiving, and Service Master provided such fantastic service it was completely worth it! I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again in the future.

Fantastic! Within minutes of emailing Service Master through Angie's List, I got a friendly phone call saying a technician would be available to come to my house that same day, between 2-5pm. A short while later, the technician himself called to say he was close by and could be there in 15-20 minutes. He showed up, had the part, and less than 45 minutes later, the dryer blows hot air again! He said he would call with a specific price to replace the dryer timer, which is also broken, and that despite it requiring another trip to my house, they would only charge the price of the part. Very friendly, prompt, and professional.
