Great!!!! After researching various companies for tuck pointing services, we selected Renaissance Development. This selection was based upon several favorable reviews from previous clients, as well as reviewing building restoration projects completed by this company. Our experience from the beginning of the project to the end was outstanding. The Renaissance team treated us with respect and understanding every step of the way. They were exceptional in addressing all of our questions and concerns immediately. All work was performed in a professional and timely manner. Additionally, the entire team involved made us feel that our satisfaction and needs were a priority. We will certainly refer Renaissance Development to our family and friends! Highlights: 1. Price, they had the lowest bid of the 3 contractors 2. A very detailed 17 page proposal to include: - Initial contract - License information - General Information about Tuck Pointing - Pictures and information about Tuck Pointing work completed - A list of Tuck Pointing jobs completed since 2016 3. They were also very considerate of our neighbors, and ensured their adjacent homes were protected from any dust and debris as a result of this work.

We could have saved time if the person that took the order looked at the photo that I attached with the online request. It was a waist of time for me.

Reached out the company using their web site contact form. It's been almost two weeks and no response.

the contractor came out to look at the job in person and to give me an estimate. The price seemed very reasonable but the contractor made a comment that I did not need a building permit which I later found to be inaccurate according to the Montgomery Permit Office.

They completed their work in a timely manner..Clean up was excellent. The final job looks attractive. I'm very satisfied with their work

We really enjoyed working with Renaissance on both of our projects, which included exposing an interior brick wall and tuckpointing/repointing the rear and parts of the front of our rowhouse in the U St historic district. They were very responsive to emails and calls, cleaned up very well (a major plus with this type of work), and were timely and professional. And they were about half the price of Edgars, another company who specializes in older buildings. Overall, we were very happy with their work and price.

Great. I made a mistake and didn't read the contract carefully and signed off on something different than what I wanted. Christina was responsive and wanted to make sure I was happy. I really liked JJ as well, who advised me away from taking on work that I didn't need done.

Renaissance Development did excellent work repairing the masonry on my home. They took care to use limestone mortar, since my home was built in the 1920s. They also tinted it so that it blended with the original mortar. I couldn't be happier with their work.

After I contacted them, Renaissance came out quickly to review the proposed work area and prepare an estimate. The staff person actually convinced me I did not need to have the entire house (a 1930s brick colonial) repointed, which I had initially assumed. It was refreshing to deal with such an honest and knowledgeable company. The work was scheduled in a timely fashion, and then actually performed early when a spot on their schedule opened up. The workers were professional and conscientious about keeping the work area as neat as possible -- a certain amount of dust and noise is inevitable with brick repointing. The final result exceeded my expectations.

Renaissance Development did good work for me. The tuck pointing they did was esepcially good. Initially I was not totally satisfied with all of the work, however they eventually followed up with me and completed the work to my satisfaction. Given that, and what I considered to be a fair price, I would recommend them in the future.

Renaissance was responsive and professional throughout the experience: from estimate to completion of the work. They completed the job in the time estimated (even with a few bad weather days) and the quality of the work met, if not exceeded, my expectations. A few weeks after the job was done I noticed that part of our fence was damaged (likely from equipment). I contacted Renaissance and they replaced the damaged piece within two days -- no questions asked. I highly recommend them.

From our initial contact to the last day on the job, Renaissance was terrific. We have had other repointing done and this experience was head and shoulders above that. Dr. Christina Wilson--yes, she actually has a PhD in this field--was a delight. She was professional and responsive to our needs, as was her excellent crew. In the District, there are new regulations about how repointing can be done, which involves notifying neighbors and covering their windows too, while the repointing is being done. Christina and her team were completely up to speed on this process. They obtained the required permits for the work. They dealt with our neighbors with aplomb and good nature. They arrived when they said they would. They worked Saturdays, which is their standard practice. When the weather turned bad, they stayed late to complete the job before the rain hit. Christina and her team matched the color of two different areas of mortar, so that the work kooks seamless--something that did not happen when we last repointed nearly 20 years ago--and one of the reasons that we decided to repeat this expensive process. We have had compliments from neighbors about the repointing. There were zero complaints about the work or the disruption. The job was completed on time. Renaissance offered a significantly better price than the other companies, although it was not the lowest bid. Christina's crew was prompt, courteous and easy to work with. Our historic home looks fresh, but not new, as it should. We have fixed the mortar that threatened to cause more serious problems indoors from potential leaks and could have damaged plaster walls inside our home. We are very pleased with this work, would use Renaissance again without hesitation and highly recommend them. -Sally Squires

Entire process was smooth, easy, professional and friendly. I loved it. Great great experience. They did very good work, cleaned up super well, and the result is just beautiful. I could not be happier.

They are very professional and punctual. I truly believe they deserve the top marks they get on Angie's List. The work was done on schedule, was completed perfectly, and really the entire process from start to finish was very good. Repointing my brick walls was not as bad as I thought it was going to be!

We were very pleased with Dr. Wilson and her team. They arrived on-time. Took pains with covering our house and windows and also our neighbors windows. Cleaned up after the job and even mulched under the shrubs in front of the house. We will use their services again!

The estimate was emailed in a timely manner. They arrived to start the work 10 minutes early. All the mortar joints were removed. Other companies just wanted to remove some of the mortar joints and charged $1,000 to $3,000 more. The workers were courteous and professional. They cleaned up everything very well.

Christina is the owner and the person that came out. She is very knowledgeable about the history of our property and the type of mortar that should be used on historic homes. She took measurements and pictures of the home. I also received a history lesson on my home and that was wonderful.

Dr. Wilson and her crew were a pleasure to deal with. They arrived on time daily, kept the work area as clean as possible, completed the project on-time and are true craftsman when it comes to the restoration of historic brick. In addition, they built a stunning retaining wall to hold up my front yard. I would not hesitate to use them again, the price was slightly less than the other major historic brick company in DC.

JJ came out to give us an estimate for work on our brick home. He was prompt, professional and answered all my questions. Renaissance was delightful to work with and if we need further work in the future I would contact them again.

We were very happy with the work Renaissance did and would recommend them to anyone. The initial estimate and contract were extremely detailed and explained the process really well. The workers were fast and considerate and they cleaned up after themselves. The were accommodating of our schedule and even worked Saturday in the rain. The final result is fabulous and they matched the color of the grout to the brick perfectly. The president of the company was very responsive and checked in with me a couple of times. It was one of the best experiences we've has with a contractor.

This is the second time I have hired Renaissance Development to do a masonry project for my family. The first project was a spot repair job on several walls. Based on their performance on that job, I hired them to re-point and repair the entire front facade of our home. As expected the project went extremely smoothly. Renaissance is very professional from start to finish - from the estimate, to responding to questions and concerns to scheduling and executing the work. The work also came out looking great. I highly recommend hiring Renaissance for your masonry projects.

I'm very happy with the professional work performed by everyone at Renaissance Development: Christina, JJ, Gena, Marcos and his team. They worked every day but Sunday, contained the black dust as much as was possible, and cleaned up nicely after completing the work. Christina kept in touch over the phone or via email nearly every day. We had to reschedule work several times due to the snow and cold temperatures, but I know every effort was made to finish as quickly as possible. It's a pleasure to write a review for a company that is responsive, professional, and personable while doing high quality work. I had to go back to the office after the job was complete to ask about a hose bib problem and Gena scheduled Marcos right away to come out and look at the problem (he's a plumber too!). (I'm confident that will also be resolved positively; I will add a comment about that appointment after 3/25.) If you need masonry work, get several estimates, but make sure Renaissance is one of them. You get what you pay for.

They were professional. It was a good service. They did quality work.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Renaissance Development from start to finish. They were able to come promptly to look at the very large crack (which had been revealed in the course of another repair job to our living room ceiling - carried out by another contractor). Each person I spoke to gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and cared about doing a great job for us. They gave us a reasonable quote - including a great discount for committing quickly to the work. The agreement was detailed and thoughtful and gave us reassurance that they were very well-prepared for this kind of job. Originally, Renaissance Development said the job would take between 4 and 5 days, but knowing that we were going to be living in the house during the work, they put extra people on and ended up finishing in 2 days. The job was extremely well done. The crack was 4 or 5 inches wide in some places and the team of masons knocked out and replaced some bricks to 'stitch' the wall back together - including in really hard to reach spaces in our attic and behind our stairs. The team left the house as clean as they possibly could - there was a film of masonry dust over almost everything, but given how much debris they hauled out of our house, I was amazed at how little mess there was. While I'm hopeful that I don't have too many similar problems, I have no doubt that I would go back to Renaissance Development for something similar or for any other masonry work. They really are specialists.
