Description of Work: Polar Bear A/C & Heating was recommended to us by the building management company which was great because we knew that they would be familiar with the logistics of the building's air conditioning and heating system problems when they occur. They replaced the entire air conditioning system for our condo. The replacement required the technician to go up on the roof where the individual ac units are for ea condo. Due to the elevator being replaced at the time, they needed to get to the roof via a crane. From the beginning to the end of the job, they were punctual, very clear about the cost as well as what needed to be done. They also worked with our tenant in a very professional manner. Polar Bear A/C & Heating did an excellent job. We would definitely hire them again.

Description of Work: Polar Bear Air Conditioning was great - I chose them based on the reviews on this site and was not disappointed. My a/c had stopped working, and I was afraid they would not be able to fix it in one day. The Polar Bear representative arrived promptly (exactly when they said they would)and quickly and efficiently got to work. Apparently a run capacitor had burnt out and needed to be replaced, which he did. They had fantastic customer service and he was quick, friendly, and, most importantly, fixed my a/c. Would definitely use again!

Description of Work: Polar Bear replaced a complete air conditioning system in our condo during one of the hottest periods in Wash DC. Everyone I spoke to was very professional, easy to communicate with and punctual. This was a large job which required replacing a compressor on the roof as well as work inside the unit (each condo has their own separate unit on the roof). At the same time, the elevator was being replaced hence they had to lift the compressor via a crane. Polar Bear explained everything regarding price for the crane, which I agreed to, and other costs as well prior to starting the job. Due to the heat wave, they were extremely busy but were able to fit us in. Upon completion of the job, our tenant was very happy and we have had no problems since. We would definitely recommend Polar Bear as well as use them again.

Description of Work: Tom Kelly made the initial service call on 12/27/11 and tried to troubleshoot my defective furnace. My furnace was over 13 years old. When he surmised that the furnace couldn't be repaired, he suggested that a purchase a new one through his company. I had been without heat since 12/13/11 so I wanted to get this problem solved. I was able to get an appointment for installation two days later, which would be 12/29/11. Mike, Sr., Mike, Jr. and Gary were the technicians that installed the Utica furnace, circulating pump and thermostat. They were punctual, pleasant and went straight to work. They completed the work before noon and Mike, Sr., explained to me in "layman's" terms how the boiler and thermostat work. They cleaned up and said their "goodbyes". Everything went smoothly. I appreciate that through Angie's List I was able to get a great company to meet my needs and I got a discount through the website as well. This is very important, as the furnace is an expensive purchase.

Description of Work: We had just returned from a week in Ohio and soon discovered that our furnace didn't seem to be working. It was freezing inside. (Fortunately, we'd brought our cat with us for the trip!) We contacted a couple companies to see if they could come take a look, including Polar Bear Air Conditioning and Heating. Joe from Polar Bear called us back right away and said he'd come take a look. When he saw the furnace, he let us know that it was actually a swimming pool heater (!), which he said some people will use to save money. Anyway, it was kaput. In the meantime, we'd learned that real furnaces are really pricey and can cost up to $10K. Joe and his team installed a nice, new real furnace for a VERY good price of $4900. His team also made sure our radiators were working well, and Joe even made a special trip back that week to check on one of them. We're very impressed with Joe and his team. He knows a lot about heating and air conditioning (we had our central air installed by him too) and their approach is professional, efficient, and affordable. There's no one we could recommend more highly.
