MENKITI GROUP

Prior to the meeting we exchanged a couple of e-mails to exchange information. We set up the initial meeting for Friday evening. Jennifer was very punctual. She came very prepared. There was absolutely no pressure to sign any contract. I really like the team concept that they employ. This allows each team member to focus on their area of responsibility; rather than one person trying to juggle many different balls.

I was extremely disappointed in the service provided by the service provided by the Menkiti Group, specifically Kymber Lovett-Menkiti, who was the listing agent for the home purchase. The response to my initial contract submission reduced the day of settlement by 15 days, from 45 to 30 days. This would have been fine, if the Menkit Group had completed all of the repairs in a timely manner. When I had my inspector come to the home to do the initial inspection, the builder had blocked off the area to the crawl space so the inspector could not inspect the foundation and structural integrity of the home. This required an additional inspection by the inspector, all at my expense as the buyer. Upon reinspection, there were several items noted that required repair. Only after multiple addendums, and realizing that they were about to lose the sale, did the Menkiti Group agree to complete these items. Upon the VA Appraisal and inspection, there were 6 items identified that needed to be repaired in order for the VA to fund the loan.. The Menkiti Group refused to complete two of these items, which I then paid for in order to have the VA inspection complete. In both the initial inspection and the VA inspection, the inspectors noted that the electrical meter needed to be fixed. Following the initial inspection, Kymber noted that the repair had to be made by Pepco and the paperwork was submitted for the work to be done. The VA inspector noted that the loan would not be funded until this repair was completed and they would not submit a final approved inspection until it was complete. Kymber responded to this that it was still not required and told my mortgage broker to just submit the paperwork and order a final inspection. She was completely unprofessional and dismissive throughout the process of the sale. Not until after the initial closing date had passed, had Kymber taken any action to get a statement from Pepco stating when the work would be completed. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a home from the Menkiti Group and I will never conduct business with them again.

Overall, the experience was great. He was tremendously helpful with every aspect of the process. He was very professional, informed, and interested in teaching us what's useful in buying a home, what makes a good property, and the whole housing market. Delonte was also personable and flexible with working with our schedule. He helped us figure out very quickly what we did and didn't want out of a home! I would recommend Delonte as a real estate agent to friends and family who are looking for a good agent to work with.
