This was a nightmare from start to finish. I am generally easy to please - a modicum of professionalism and enough communication to get a job done is all I really care about, but Mark exhibited neither. The extent of Mark's services was a one hour appraisal of two units in our Coop building in DC. I began communication with Mark on July 9th and set up an appointment for July 14th at 5pm. I sat around my apartment until 6, and which point I called him. He said he was stuck in traffic and would be there in about an hour. He never called or showed. I emailed him the next day and he said he 'ran out of gas.' I guess his cellphone runs on gasoline? Anyway, he blew another appointment before finally showing up late on July 20th. Because he was appraising two units, each time he set an appointment he couldn't keep he was inconveniencing both me and my neighbor. The actual appraisal experience was extremely negative too. Mark was rude and surly, sometimes ignoring what I said. After appraising both units, he began a soliloquy on how we should kick out the investors in our building because they were driving down the property value. He also made what I felt were extremely unprofessional remarks about the sexuality of a local businessman. Despite the frustrations with the scheduling, I held off filing a negative report here because I wanted to give Mark the benefit of the doubt. But what pushed me over the edge is what happened next. The week of September 13th, I hear from the neighbor whose unit was appraised by Mark that he is receiving multiple phone calls about refinancing deals, directed to me. After trying to figure out the phone number mix up, my neighbor remembered that he had given his number to Mark, but asked Mark not to share it. My neighbor called Mark and asked if he had given out his number. In response, Mark spoke in equivocal terms about how he thought he might know how the number made it out. So not only does it appear that Mark shared personal information without permission, but he couldn't even accurately match the name with the number! Furthermore, he didn't seem aware of why he was appraising our units (he was hired out by ROA Hutton as part of our conversion feasibility study). This was a terrible experience beginning to end. I'm surprised Mark is in business -- I don't think I've ever dealt with someone quite so unprofessional.
Description of Work: As part of a feasibility study for Coop to Condo conversion, Mark appraised my unit and a neighbor's unit in our 15 unit building.
