With me being out of state, I relied on her to handle a lot for me. She made the home improvements run smoothly by letting contractors into the home for me. There were a few issues throughout the process but she worked through them graciously for me and professional. She made the entire process much less stressful. I appreciated all of her hard work.
Description of Work: Linda Brack sold my mother's home for me.

What can I say - the home warranties are really a gimmick. They contract inferior subcontractors that go through the motions to tinker with the problem. They never would schedule appointments in a timely manner. I would not be persuaded in the future by the guarantee or "safety net" supposedly offered by HMS in the home sale - I would not rely upon it after the home inspection, and I would certainly never allow the costs to be passed along to the buyer. In short, the assurance of such a warranty is deceptive, and should be immaterial to the sale of the home. Sellers should know that an educated buyer (I am now) is wise to the irrelevance of the warranty in moving the home.
Description of Work: Repair a plumbing concern with the main shower - low water pressure on the hot side. The shower unit had worked in the home inspection, but we found the concern sometime in November of last year, culminating in the utlimate denial of coverage sometime in March of this year. After six visits and 5 months, unscheduled time off from work for the homeowners, and unsuccessfully finding the problem, they decided it must not be covered under the warranty. They had replaced the cartridge - which they allege had a hairline crack, to no avail. They repeatedly confessed they did not have the expertise to perform the repair, but would give it a shot anyway. The warranty was purchased as part of the sale, relying on the warranty to give us peace of mind over the covered plumbing. We also paid the $100 deductible. Once they had decided that six visits was enough, they all had the same decision on file, with no explanation. Other than the cartridge replacement, they never took the unit off the wall to inspect whether the hoses or plumbing was at issue. We were given repeated assurances that the matter would be looked into and resolved successfully, with no real knowledge we ever spoke to anyone in charge.

I really liked working with Stephen Cade. I have worked with other Realtors and he is excellent compared to them. He was very good about always returning my calls and keeping me up to date with showings and any offers made on the property.
Description of Work: Stephen Cade, of Long & Foster Realty listed an A-frame, 2-story cabin in which I fixed up. It was on the market for 5 months.

I worked with both Kevin Shirley and Michael Dillon of Long & Foster, Capitol Hill (the Real Astute team), but I worked most closely with Michael. It was a great experience! They initially gave me a thorough briefing on the home-buying experience along with a notebook of resources, which was very helpful to me as a first-time home buyer. In addition, Michael was very supportive and encouraging, acting as part realtor and part therapist during the often stressful search for a condo on a budget. After seeing about 10+ condos over 2 1/2 months, and a couple of attempts to make an offer, I finally found the right home with all of the "musts" that I was looking for within my limited price range. Michael patiently answered question after question, email after email, and in addition to being knowledgeable and supportive, he was a lot of fun in the process! He helped me from the first home visit through the home inspection all the way to closing. I will definitely work with them again!
Description of Work: I worked with Michael Dillon and Kevin Shirley of Real Astute/Long & Foster for about 3 months to buy my first home, a 1-bedroom condo in DC, on a moderately tight budget.

After spending over a year with a terrible Weichert agent, Real Astute was absolutely top notch amazing. It was a terrific experience working with them and they found me the perfect house in less than a month. They listened to me and got to know me and I want to let everyone in the world know how great and helpful they are. Hire these guys when you are buying or selling a home - you will not be disappointed.
