I was not going to review this company, but I almost feel like it is an act of public service to ensure these scam artists don't con anyone else. In short, we still don't have glass in our shower bathroom and though the work that was completed is satisfactory, this company slapped us with thousands of dollars in overcharges for under performing. Despite knowing our tight budget and repeatedly stating this, the minimum work we agreed to have done was not done, but we went over budget? How did that happen? One conversation got so heated that the company's Managing Director actually called and cancelled his *one* worker from showing up top finish remaining work. The wrong tiles were ordered, work was left unfinished and did I mention our shower still does not have doors after over $17,000 in fees?? But the icing on the cake is this company's lone Mexican worker who was assigned by Lofft do work on our two bathrooms and kitchen. He repeatedly complained to my husband that he was not being paid by Lofft for previous jobs. It was emotionally heartbreaking and stressful to hear this worker talk about him not being paid for months. In the beginning, Lofft seemed like a great option with the most reasonable price. Turns out they did the least, charged the most, left work incomplete, treat their workers like slaves, and their customers like employees. I would rather pay a lawyer and take this as far as I can legally than ever dealing with this kind of scam artists.

Carlos our foremen is not Mexican and still works for the company. They kept asking him for additional work outside Lofft for free. Everybody at Lofft and even at the Tile shop and Ferguson felt really sorry about this lady husband who runs a small business from his house, the way she treats him is absolutely embarrassing and sad, and she is supposed to be a leader in the Bangladeshi Women’s rights. On her review you can tell how discriminating she is calling our Foreman “Mexican”. Luckily we don’t run thru this kind of clients every day.

Cannot relive this experience -- but WHATEVER you do, do not hire this company based on online reviews only Ask for and actually check references - preferably those who had work done similar to your project. Make sure the references are real and legit. Make sure the same crew (project manager as well as workers) performed that work as will be doing yours. A previous poster wrote similar advice; I only wish I had followed it...

Our dealings with Lofft Construction have been excellent. Our project was part structural and part renovation and they handled both very well. Alex and crew were responsive and easy to work with. Eric's structural repairs went quickly and efficiently with help from Verlando. They completed all the work as per the structural engineer's drawings and it looked so good we were relieved and amazed that it went so smoothly. The work took some considerable demolition and the guys carefully bagged and lowered the debri out a window so they didn't have to track construction dust through the house. When the plumbing in our old house (1911) became an unplanned for issue, Lofft provided a plumber in a timely way, so we could have new pipes installed without significant delay to the project. Carlos' tile work in the bathroom was beautiful and meticulous. They completed all the work as contracted and more. Overall we had a positive experience and won't hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Repair structural damage from past termite problem and water rot, install new plumbing in bath and kitchen, install 2 new windows-trim and seal, remove damaged bathroom floors and install new backer boards, new tiles and grout, install tiles on walls as per existing design, install new tile shower, add GFI outlet in bath, drywall and plaster after work performed on damaged areas.

Overall, things went really well. I recently purchased a row house that was gutted and completely re-done inside, however, the contractor that did the renovations cut a few corners: the paint was cheap, there were no finishing touches like backsplashes in the kitchens, the border between the carpeting and the tile in the basement apartment had no transition piece resulting in a lot of exposed carpet tacks. Wiring for ceiling fans in the bedrooms had been completed but no fans were installed. One of the bedrooms is quite small, instead of remedying this with a pocket door the company that renovated the house before I bought it put in a normal hinged door that, when opened, would prevent anything but a twin bed from being placed in the room. My solution to all these problems: Lofft Construction! When selecting a company to complete the work I wanted, I interviewed three contractors. It turns out that Lofft was the most expensive bid, however, I had some potentially complicated wiring in the wall where the pocket door would go; one of the contractors I had interviewed said that if they ran into any problems I would have to hire an electrician to come in and deal with it. Another contractor did not include any constructions supplies in their estimate and suggested I buy most of my supplies at Home Depot. This could possibly have worked, but for just a little more money, Lofft Construction provided full service. Out of the three contractors that I interviewed, the guys from Lofft did the best job at actually listening to what I wanted to do and working with me when formulating the estimate to make sure I got exactly what I needed. At the time I hired Lofft, I had a very busy schedule but Alex from Lofft was very flexible in meeting with me to see what I needed to have done. He had some ideas regarding the work I wanted that I hadn't initially considered and we incorporated them into the plans. In addition, I used Lofft's contacts to purchase tile for a backsplash; instead of having to go to Home Depot and struggle with picking out tile on my own, Lofft referred me to a tile company that helped me select exactly what would go well in my kitchen. Again, this was probably something that made the work a little more expensive than what the competitors had quoted but I think it was worth it. In the middle of the work I decided to add a backsplash to the basement kitchen as well and Lofft was flexible about adding work to the plans, and in fact just did the second backsplash the same day as they worked on the one in the main house. The work turned out great; it seemed to take them a little bit longer to complete the pocket door than they initially expected, in fact, if they had planned things better I think they may have been able to do most of the work in just a few days. However, they painted the bathrooms on one or two days, came back to do the backsplashes on a different day (although this was probably due to the fact that the tile had to be ordered), and, if I recall correctly they did the pocket door last. This didn't really bother me as I was living on an air mattress in my living room but if you need something done in a more efficient manner I would make sure to ask them specifically what their schedule will be for your work. I was considering hiring them to paint my small bedroom as well but because my movers were coming the day after they finished their work, I just went ahead and did it myself. I have to say, however, that when they came in to put the finishing touches on the door, they noticed that my paint job was not exactly professional (I painted the ceiling accidentally many times), so, without asking or charging for it, they fixed all my mistakes. A couple downsides: 1) After a few months I hired someone else to paint the rest of my house (living/dining/kitchen/other bedrooms). When comparing his work and Lofft's work, I have to say that Lofft's painters did not do the absolute best job on the bathrooms. There are tiny spots where it's obvious that another coat should have been applied, and there are some areas, for example, like bordering door jambs where you can tell where the painter didn't cut in very well. These minor flaws are nothing that I would have ever complained about and the paint job is still better than I could have done on my own, but know that there are better painters out there. 2) When I did decide to paint the rest of the house, I offered Lofft a chance to bid on the job. First they said they'd get back to me to make an appointment, and after a couple days they just sent an estimate without coming to see what I wanted done. Their bid was about $6000 and included a lot of work (like painting ceilings, trims and doors) that I didn't want done. When I wrote to them to tell them that there estimate was off base due to the fact that it included a lot of work I didn't want, they did offer to come out to my house. After getting an estimate from someone else that was 75% cheaper I decided to pass on Lofft for the second job. On balance, if you are looking for someone to renovate your house, I would definitely recommend at least getting an estimate from Lofft. If you are able to agree on a specific plan with them and a cost that's right for you, I think you will be satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: I hired Lofft Construction to install a pocket door in a small bedroom, paint 4 bathrooms (including ceilings), install two ceiling fans (wiring was already in place), place backsplashes in 2 kitchens and do some minor repairs to carpeting in an already recently renovated row house with basement apartment.

We had several phases of projects. The first was to renovate the utility room which took about 2 weeks to finish and the job went great. They had to sheet rock the old concrete slab room and put in new closets and then paint. The room looks great. Then we had them paint all the exterior windows, shutters, and trim--we have a brick colonial house. This took a little longer as the winders needed some reglazing and the wood need some re-finishing. Then we had them re-roof the detached garage and replace the trim. This took about 2 days and there was larger crew to help finish more quickly. Then we had them re-wire and paint the downstairs play/theater room. And them build a book shelf in the adjacent in-law suit. FInally, we have been working with an architect, Oscar, to design an addition and expand the kitchen. We just have the plans but no set date on beginning this project. The Lofft crew was great. Alex is totally receptive to ideas and our needs and tells us what can be done. Enrique responded to our every request and when I was getting ready to have a TV and speakers installed, he came over immediately to help with touch up work. They are great!!
Description of Work: The best projects were refinishing a utility room--which included building closets and sheetrocking the entire room. It looked fabulous when Alex, Enrique and the crew finished. Also we had a basement--theater room they re-wired and painted. Other jobs included building a book case and painting an in-law suite. We then had the guys fix a detached garage roof and trim which they finished quickly and neatly. We also had them paint all the windows, shutters, and trim around the house. This took a little longer but was well worth it. Finally, we had Alex and Oscar, the architect, draw up plans to expand the back of the house and open up the kitchen area. While we have not acted on this, they have worked with us to get the details we wanted down on paper. It has been a great experience with them!!

This company was a real pleasure to work with. We had many projects we wanted to complete on a victorian row house needing basic renovations. Alex gave me a detailed breakdown of what each project would cost. The project was done in a timely manner with a diligent focus on detail and specifications. When changes came up, Alex helped us through things and gave us great advice. His team took great care of our house, and the work was of a great quality, all for a reasonable price. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and highly recommend the fine crew at Lofft.

While I haven't received anything from Lofft yet, so far, the customer service has been great. Very professional. I would love to work with them and am interested in receiving the proposal.
Description of Work: Thus far, the service has been great. I called in July for an estimate on removing a wall. I was given an appointment date of August 31, for someone to come out and take a look at the structure. While it was more than a month after I originally called, the gentleman was there on time. Oscar called about 45 minutes before his arrival to let me know he was on his way. Once he arrived, he listened to what I wanted, answered my questions and gave really good advice and suggestions. He explained that the company was really busy, but I should be receiving a proposal in the next several weeks.

I contacted Lofft to get an estimate on a leak from the master bathroom to the dining room below where the ceiling was damaged.. We scheduled an appointment and the person arrived on time. I explained and showed him the problem and he said he would estimate the job an email it to me. I received the estimate the next day, discussed some changes and we agreed on the contract. A date was set for the job to be done.Every aspect of the job was done extremely well. They were knowledgeable and professional. They called before arriving and immediately went two work. The project manager explained what was being done and why. If they found an additional problem, they pointed it out and explained the best way to correct it.The project took 2 days to complete, and every thing was properly fixed and they did an excellent job cleaning up and making sure that my furniture was properly protected from damage or stains, etc. I would definitely use Lofft again.
Description of Work: Stop leakage from bathroom floor to dining room ceiling below; and repair dining room ceiling and paint ceiling. This work was done in the master bathroom. They had to remove three rows of tile around the tub in order to remove an old bathtub and install a new one. They also had to apply grouting around the tiles, the tub and at the base of the tub. They also made sure that the fixtures were secured with caulking to prevent leakages. After the bathroom was complete, the work was done below in the dining room. The damaged area of the ceiling was removed. Then the section of the ceiling was replaced and the entire ceiling painted (2 coats).Afterwards, they did an excellent job cleaning up in both areas..

We called Lofft to repair a leak in the shower they built in 2009. Because it was installed poorly in the first place and created a slow leak over time, Lofft repaired the leak with no cost to us. We were happy that they took responsibility for this, although it took a few months to schedule the repair.

Leon came out to give me an estimate. We walked through what I was thinking. Clearly he was really knowledgeable. He had a couple of good ideas that I hadn't been thinking of. At one point, he asked, "What is this, about 1,400 sq. ft.?" I said it was (I was mistaken, it is closer to 980). After we walked through everything, he said, "This isn't an official quote but it will cost you $57K - 1,400 feet at $50 a foot, $12K for the areaway, and $10K for the bathroom." And then he left. Not once did he pull out a tape measure and he only made a couple of notes. When I got the quote back a week later, sure enough it was right around $57K.... about $5K more than all the other contractors had bid it. I understand that a good contractor can eyeball a job pretty closely and given the wrong assumption of 1,400 sq. feet he wasn't too far. However, if I have the choice between two contractors, both of whom have good reviews, I am going to choose the one that pays attention, takes notes, and at least pretends he cares about my job over someone that just eyeballs it.

Hired them for two separate jobs. The first was to smooth out the plaster walls in my 100-yr-old row house and to make some drywall repairs of holes, etc. The experience was terrible. They made an awful mess and did very little to clean after each work day. One day I came home and found my $60 Wustoff kitchen knife covered with plaster sitting on the bedroom window sill. They did okay with the drywall but did a terrible job with smoothing out the plaster walls and ceilings. I called in three other plaster contractors who verified that they were not using the proper techniques to repair the plaster cracks in the walls. They were simply smearing drywall compound over them instead of opening up the cracks and taping them. I then called an on-site meeting with the project manager who said he would bring in his plaster expert to redo the work. During this meeting, the "plaster expert" looked at the wall and asked if it was drywall or plaster. Didn't leave me with much confidence! Then he said the only way to resolve this was to skim coat the entire home, which I already knew was not needed. I then fired this contractor and hired another one who did a beautiful job. They basically had to undo the work that Lofft did and redo it properly which cost me more money than if I had just hired them in the first place. They were incredibly respectful of my home and cleaned up after each day. The other job I hired Lofft for was to vent my microwave to the outside as it was just recirculating air into my home. They did a good job with the venting but installed my microwave crooked so it now hangs downward. Will need to be fixed.

I was actually looking forward to seeing Erik and his team in my home again. All the Lofft people are friendly, responsive, reasonable and "good people," but Erik is the talented young man who oversaw my master bath renovation and again performed this role for my other baths. He is pretty much good at everything, but it is his tile work that really shows off. The crew worked hard to keep the dust in check to the effected areas and cleaned up after themselves constantly. They were attentive to every detail and responsive to any in-process designs or desires on my part. The project manager, Luis, was always available by phone or email for any issue, besides showing up on site. The team was so organized and the vendors they referred me to were to good, that issues were very few and quickly handled. The crew arrives on time and works hard all day. Both baths were done in two weeks, including the punch out list!! I have recommended Lofft to many friends.
Description of Work: I was so happy with the job that Lofft did on the total renovation of my master bath, I hired them to come back a few months later to renovate my other full bath and powder room. The rooms were essentially gutted and everything but wallboard was replaced.

Overall I am very pleased with my bathroom. They started right when they said they would and finished in a little over two weeks, which is about when they said they estimated they would be done. I gave them keys to my condo so they could come and go as they needed and they usually left the place as neat and clean as could be hoped for (installing new drywall is going to create dust - not much can be done about that). They were very nice and worked with me when some of my original plans just were not going to work out (due to placement of studs, etc). They had to special order a door to match the other ones in the bedroom. They even had to move this one pair of lights three times when I kept changing my mind. The tiles in particular look really great. We did have an issue with cost overruns - everything was ordered with my approval but apparently I have expensive tastes and didn't realize - but it would have been nice to know when I chose something that was higher than the allowance in the contract. Since each item was bought separately it wasn't obvious when a single item was pushing me over the allowance. My suggestion for future renovations would be to get a breakdown of the allowance for each item so when they say "The vanity costs $500" you can know immediately that this is going to push you over budget. Lofft did work with me at the end to reduce the costs which was much appreciated so it ended up being OK. There were a one other small issues with communication. I only have one bathroom so I set up with a friend to stay at his place when the toilet was to be out of commission. But then the day they took the toilet out they didn't tell me and I got home at 11pm to find no toilet and it was too late to call my friend to stay there. But that didn't turn out to be a huge deal - luckily my gym is near by and has long hours. On the whole I would say Lofft did a great job and I appreciate all the time Alex and Manuel and their crew put into making the bathroom look great. I'll post a couple pictures but they won't do justice to the difference this renovation made.
Description of Work: Lofft completely redid my bathroom, replacing everything including the ceiling and floor and walls. They put in a new tub, vanity, toilet, mirrors, lights and all the fixtures. They put in new tiles for the floor and walls. They also knocked out the wall between the bedroom and bathroom and pushed out the wall a little and changed the door from opening into the bathroom to opening into the bedroom. At the same time they repainted the bedroom and replaced a light I hated in my living room and fixed up the wall around an electric box that an electrician had left in disrepair.

I have not used them. The quote was $68000. I have decided not to add the room at this time. They were very thorough in walking me through the process and discussing options. I didn’t use their work, so I can't speak for their quality. They were very responsive. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Lofft Construction Inc for adding a room to the house.

Overall things went well and I am pleased with the results. The estimator/job supervisor (Luis) was very professional, came on time and provided an estimate in a timely manner. He was very easy to work with, always available for questions and provided helpful suggestions to make the job so smoothly. The work was well done. Remodel took at little longer than estimated but that may have been due to changes to the work order (additional lights, electrical issues . . . ) that I made.
Description of Work: Lofft took down a basement drop ceiling and replaced it with a sheetrock ceiling. They also installed lights and painted the entire room.

Overall, I was not pleased with this company. The project manager left the work site while working on my attic ladder. I feel he left intentionally, which left me immobile in my own home. The work completed was good, but the professionalism was very poor due to poor communication and punctuality.
Description of Work: This company installed an attic ladder, a back splash in my kitchen, and completed some electrical work.

I was worried about dust since I have a young child but they did a good job sealing the area and it wasn't a problem. They even figured out a way to lower trash from the window so they didn't have to bring it through the house. The quality of Erick and Rolando's work was excellent. We are so pleased with the result. As with all renovation projects, there were a few bumps in the road, but they were always handled with grace and professionalism. I like this company because they are fair and honest and everyone from the owner to the office manager to the guy who just started a month ago is super nice, competent and hard-working. I will definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: Lofft gutted and renovated our upstairs bathroom. They put in marble tile in the shower, floors and about 4' up the walls. They installed a new soaking tub and shower, a toto toilet, towel warmer and a recessed medicine cabinet where we can plug in and store our toothbrushes! I love love love it.
