RaSaun Murphy completed my home inspection. He provided a thorough inspection of my Condo. He provided a thorough report and I was able to fix issues that would have come about in the Buyer's inspection. He offered to come back and reinspect when the issues were fixed to provide and updated report. It wasn't necessary, my Condo sold with no Buyer's inspection, because they saw the first report. Kudo's to him. Thanks.

I found the company on Angie’s List and it seemed like a good company. He was good. He was very fair, honest, and told me I did not have a problem; he did not take advantage of my worries. He seemed very professional and was very informative in telling me what I should do and look for in the future if I ever had any concerns. It was safe to stay at home when he did it; he was looking in a socket kind of thing where the air conditioning duct goes through. He did that and also tested the air. It was fine; it was not invasive at all. I thought he did a thorough check and I also thought the price was very reasonable. He said exactly when he said he would come and it was not a long delay from between the phone call and the appointments.

For the removal of large scale mold and mildew, I recommend you contact RaShaun Murphy of Home Remedies. He recently undertook the task of removing the mold and mildew which had been slowly but steadily growing in my basement over the last several years. Some drywall was seriously affected as were most of the wooden shelves and nearly every other poress surface in that space. Mr. Murphy came to my home and performed a thorough assessment of the damage and provided me with a detailed description of what needed to be done and the cost necessary to make the space safe and inhabitable. He worked quickly and within my budget without compromising the quality of service. It's refreshing to see someone so dedicated to their profession and the work ethic not to just do the job but make things as they should be. I hope I never need remediation services again, but if I do, I know who to call!

The service worked out really well. There was an article in the Washington Post yesterday about home inspector and what they should be doing, he did exactly what was outlined in the article. It took about three hours, we discussed what the issues were in the house and if I wanted to rent whether or not it would be worth doing that. He was giving me estimates of things that needs to be fixed, repaired and what it would cost. When he finished, he emailed me a very detailed report with pictures and everything.

I spoke with Mr. Murphy about a few days prior to the home inspection and told him that I needed him to inspect a 3 unit property that I was planning to purchase. At that time, he quoted me $500 + $75 (for him to walk through another property with me because I was considering purchasing that one as well. I am an investor). So I was fine with the price that he quoted me. On the day of the inspection, I was a few minutes late to the property and then I got a call from Mr. Murphy saying he was at the property and that that I did not tell him it was a 3 unit property and that he thought it was only 2 units. I then told Mr. Murphy that I remember specifically telling him that it was 3 units and it was unacceptable of him for wanting to charge me more. At that time, he said that he was going to look at his notes and get back with me. Then I showed up at the property about 20 mins late and saw that Mr. Murphy proceeded with the inspection. I asked him about the price and he said that he left his notes that home and that he was going to charge me what I quoted me earlier. Ok, so we finished the inspection, I paid him and he said that he is going to send me the report shortly....So the shortly came and went and it was a day and a half after the inspection and I still didn't get the report. I then called Mr. Murphy and asked him when he was going to send it to me. He promised me that he was going to send it to me that very evening so I waited until the next day to check my email and still did not see the report. I then called him repeatedly and left him messages and he finally called back saying that he is a perfectionist and is very detailed with his report and he is going to send it to me shortly....And so the shortly came and went and it has been now more than 5 days after the inspection and still no word from him. I do not recommend this person at all. He is a fraud. I called me credit card and disputed the charge due to the fact that he did not perform the services he promised to perform. So I will get my money back. It's just very funny because throughout the inspection he was criticizing this and that and he was saying if he had been the one working on it, it would have been better and he's such a perfectionist that he wouldn't be able to sleep for a month if he didn't complete something to it's perfection. HAHA....he must be losing sleep right now. Do not use this person. Spend a little more money and find someone who is willing to do what they promise you.

Response from Home Remedies Real Estate Consultants, LLC
(removed member name) is a complete lie. I went above and beyond for Vy on the subject property at hand as well as another property not far from the subject being inspected. Vy wanted two commercial inspections for 575 which was not paid. (removed member name) is a crook and should not be able to use Angie's List to take advantage of the contractors.

Great service and really nice gentleman. He inspected our home and informed us throughout the process of things he observed and thought could use a little attention. We had a few mix-ups with scheduling, but he was so nice about it. He was very professional and I felt confident in his skills.
Description of Work: I made the mistake and purchased mold inspection thinking it was a home inspection. He inspected our house, in preparation for sale.

Mr. Murphy arrived promptly and went through the house with a "fine tooth comb"! He obviously has tremedous knowledge and carries all the tools necessary to investigate every corner of the residence, from the attic to the crawl space. We were able to proceed with the purchase of our home knowing there were only a few very minor issues to deal with. We were also very impressed with his appraisal value for our home. It came within dollars of the bank's appraisal. Mr. Murphy is knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. We are most pleased with his service.
Description of Work: Mr. Murphy performed a very complete home inspection on a home that we did ultimately purchase with great confidence, largely attibuted to Mr. Murphy's thoroughness. He provided a complete written report promptly after the actual inspection, including photos and detailed written information. In addition, we hired him to do an appraisal on the home.
NO work was done on the weekend we were away (he was supposed to set up extractors and then fog for mold in the basement and if indicated, also on the 1st floor). The following weekend he set up the extractor machine in the 1st floor bathroom and disappeared, leaving the machine running (and running up a huge electric bill) for several weeks. He did not return phone calls for weeks, and when he did, he promised to come and finish the work, but wouldn't show at all. This happened several times, and he finally came and removed the extractor. But he left all his tools in the bathroom making it totally impassible. He made several attempts to put in a vent and over the course of SEVERAL MONTHS finally installed it, then showed up unexpectedly to paint the bathroom. He advised that he had to make several changes to the work order, but never said what they were, nor got my permission to make the changes. One important and urgent repair was to re-route the dryer vent that "grew" out of the yard about 3 feet from the house, replace it with proper exterior-grade duct, and route it along the outside of the house and anchor it alongside the chimney. It was clear that this was to be done before the duct got buried under snow. A few days before XMAS he suddenly showed up to finish the bathroom vents and paint the ceilings. He threw in a "freebie" and repainted one bathroom. He assured me that my house was "his project." But here we are in January and he's nowhere to be found. My daughter's concerned about the co2 and fire risk of having the dryer vent blocked by snow. To say the least, he's now officially fired. His lack of time management skills (work scheduled for August not done in January) and failure to return calls or to show up when promised has been the last straw. Now I have to find someone in an urgent situation to dig up possibly frozen ground and reroute the vent properly. He's truly lucky I haven't yet sued him.
Description of Work: Due to previous OUTSTANDING experience (and fact that Mr. Murphey was a referral from family member) I hired him to do mold remediation, install exhaust vents in several bathrooms, excavate and replace a basement dryer vent that the rehabbers had left sticking 2 feet out of the ground and for which they had used furnace duct. The work was to include patching and repainting the bathroom ceilings after installing the vents. Because my experience had been so good, I foolishly prepaid the full amount. He was to do the mold remediation while my family was out of town the 3rd weekend in AUGUST!

I used Mr. Murphy services three times and each time I was very satisfied. Below are the reasons why I definitely would utilize his service again and refer him to others. · He was dependable, very professional and courteous. · He arrived on time. · He had all of the up to date equipment needed to perform his duties. · The home inspection report was very in-depth; it gave great insight into all aspects of the home. The pictures were very professional. · He is very knowledgeable in his field. · He explained things in layman?s term. It?s hard to find great service like this anymore. I would not by another house until it goes through Mr. Murphy inspection. You probably need to charge more. Thanks again.
Description of Work: Mr. Murphy did three home inspections for me. He did a pre-drywall inspection on my first house and a pre-drywall and final inspection on my second house.

This was scheduled at the last minute and Mr. Murphy was very flexible with our conflicting schedules and went out of his way to accommodate us. He's a true professional and took an hour and a half to go through each and every one of the "fixes" the seller's contractor rushed through (or, in some cases, totally ignored). If it had not been for Mr. Murphy I might just have thrown in the towel and backed out of the sale. But he explained what still remained to be done, and gave me an estimate for that work and assured me that a competent handyman could probably complete the remainder of the work at very little cost. Given the sloppy job done on the repairs, it seemed a better idea to go ahead with the purchase rather than have the clown contractor back in what will in a few days be our new home! I recommend Home Remedies wholeheartedly.
Description of Work: This was a reinspection of a single family home after the seller made the repairs we requested based on Mr. Murphy's original inspection. He noted the items that had not been repaired (despite the seller's assurances!!), some repairs that were acceptably completed, and some that were just plain sloppy. But most impressive of all was that Mr. Murphey identified two significant new damages that were incurred while the repair clowns were attempting their "repairs." One, that the disposal isn't working, is a minor and easily fixable issue. Another discovery was that some damage had been done to the hot water heater venting system so that it now leaked CO2 into the utility room whenever the hot water was running. Simple to repair, but potentially deadly if left unrepaired.

What a consummate professional! Arrived early, prepared, had all the tools needed to do a very thorough inspection. This gentleman has a very low-key, laid-back manner. He tells us (my realtor and a relative were with me) what he is going to do and why, does his inspection of that "issue" (e.g. furnace--which he turned on even though the outside temp was 104--my hero!), took photos, measurements, notes, then "walked us through" what his findings were, then moved on to the next "issue." At every point he showed us photos substantiating his findings, informed us as to whether it was a health or safety issue, required a contractor or was a DIY simple fix, and how urgent it would be to have the work completed. Within 24 hours we had his official, written report via email, and a basis upon which to decide whether to back out of the purchase, or negotiate with the buyer to make the needed repairs. Murphy probably could have completed his inspection more quickly had he not taken the time to explain everything to us--but by doing so he eliminated the possibility that his client would be concerned about the thoroughness of his work. If you need a home inspection in the DC area, you can call this company with confidence. Ask for RaSaun Murphy: his home inspection will take all the worries out of a home purchase experience because you will know what you are getting into, what needs fixing prior to move-in, and what you can complete yourself when you get around to it.
Description of Work: Home inspection must be one of the most nerve-wracking experiences for a buyer. As a northerner who has no knowledge of things like termites, it was therapeutic/anxiety-reducing to be in the company of Mr. RaSaun Murphy. "Murphy" was able to schedule our home inspection to occur within 3 days of my call to him. He was referred to me by a family member who had witnessed him in action. Murphy arrived 15 minutes early, equipped with every gadget known to humankind, to work in a home where the AC was not working on a day when the temps reached 104 degrees. In that heat, he went up on the roof and assured me that what I thought might be "issues" were no concern for worry. He crawled into an unfinished basement space behind the (very hot) hot water heater, and using his "snake" camera lens showed me how the bathtub in the basement au pair suite had ZERO support, was "resting" partly on rubble and partly on thin air into which all the water from the tub was draining because the "flippers" from whom I was buying had not bothered to connect a drain pipe to the tub. The drain assembly was there, just hanging loose as water cascaded from below the tub. Had anyone actually been in the tub, it would have crashed into the void created by the runoff. Although this inspection was not a formal termite inspection, Murphy pointed out visible colonies of termites who had eaten through several of the support beams for the home. He pointed out black mold, invisible in the unfinished utility room, and green mold, visible in the adjacent laundry room. With the AC off and the house heating up, he explained, these problems would mushroom and may have already compromised the structure. And their spores might well have compromised air quality for anyone living in that garden level apartment. At that point, I authorized him to take air quality samples--at $100 for two samples, it added substantially to the bill, but IMHO was necessary and well worth it. He showed us electric outlets that had been wired backwards, ceiling lights that had been dropped through the drywall ceiling from the attic without any heat shield, and with exposed wires, exposed junction boxes, all amidst batts of insulation that were too close to the hot light fixtures and risked an electric fire. He pointed out replaced EXTERIOR window sills that were sloppily cut from INTERIOR grade lumber.
