Everything went really well. We had good service and got it delivered and installed pretty efficiently. The price was right and the service was good. Everything worked out pretty well. It was pretty straight forward and simple. It didn't take very long. We got some very good help when we went into the store. Everything worked out quite efficiently with getting everything done and installed within a few days.

Home Depot is not honoring signed contract price for roof install and tried to increase the price. Signed a contract with Home Depot rep. Brian Fellini (spelling?) on March 12, 2016 to replace the shingles on my roof, and any damaged wood underneath. The agreement was for $14k and the install was scheduled for April 6, 2016. On April 6, 2016, I receive a call from Brian Fellini, informing me that he misjudged the area and that there would be an additional $3400 increase. I left a message informing Mr. Fellini that I expected Home Depot to honor the signed contract. I received a call from the regional rep. Brad Dormer, and we negotiated an increase of $1000, to bring the new total to $15,000 total, and rescheduled the install date for May 20, 2016. On May 20, 2016, Grace Roofing arrived at my house, and had been subcontracted by Home Depot to do the install. When starting demolition, Grace roofing, found that there would be need for more disposal and added expense. I received another call from Brad Dormer informing me that the new price would increase by $10,200, for a total of $25,200. Mr. Dormer also said that Brian Fellini should have requested an attic inspection when writing the contract, and because he's new, there is still a learning curve. Grace Roofing, didn't do an inspection before starting demolition either. It wasn't until after tearing a hole in my roof, that they stopped working. Brad Dormer, informed me via phone, that Home Depot would not honor the signed contract for the price agreed upon and that without paying the additional increase, they wouldn't be installing the roof. Grace Roofing, patched the hole they created with another color shingles, and I know have a mismatched roof. Home Depot signed a contract to complete services, and hasn't honored it. I am also left with a mismatched color roof, that could have been prevented, had the representative performed his duties properly. I am asking for Home Depot to cover the cost of the roof replacement.
Description of Work: Home Depot signed a contract, then has tried increasing the price on two separate occasions. Ultimately, canceling the job and leaving me with a patched roof of mismatched shingles, from the demo they initiated.

This place never disappoints, even this late in the season. I needed to replace some landscaping that my tenant seems to have removed or destroyed at my house. I am trying to get the place looking good enough to sell now. American Plant is the go-to place for a variety of plants, including good-sized shrubs and trees, including better-quality and harder-to-find varieties. I bought three lovely hydrangea shrubs, about 3' tall when in the ground, and really well matched, to fill in the foundation plantings in front of the house. Then I picked up a gorgeous larger Witch Hazel shrub that should be in full bloom very early in the Spring, around February or March, to look good right when the house will go on the market. That shrub was also 3-4 feet tall. How perfect is that? Finally, I picked up a few hellebores (in bloom!) to fill in a few more bare spots by a stone path. It all looks great. The plants all seem to be extremely healthy, which is amazing for this late in the season.
Description of Work: Great source for high-quality landscape plants.

I went to their store and picked from their samples. It was a limited selection and it was cheaper than the alternative. They do not have a full show room. One person came for the quote and another person did the installation. It is a little bit cumbersome but, it is reasonably priced. They do stand behind their service. We have had several changes since the work was done. They have stood behind it so, they are reliable. They did have trouble getting the range to work with the tile. They are going to be doing my threshold. They have come through. They did a really good job and it was a sturdy installation. They were always on time.

We had a broken door on our balcony and it is a condo so it has to conform with the condo's standards too. At the same time, my husband went to Home Depot and they agreed to do it for a pretty good price so I said, "Okay. Well, let us just go with them." They were able to find the right door for us. In fact, we are just waiting for a time for them to call to install it. The experience was okay overall. Of course, it depends on how long it takes them to put it in and the quality of the door. Their responsiveness was also very good.

After shopping around, I ordered the gas range from Home Depot online. I even spoke to a very nice person who explained what and quot;optionsand quot; I might need if I were planning to have Home Depot install the appliance. I was allowed to pick the delivery date (today). I received a receipt with the list of services I had selected: delivery, haul away, installation. Paid in full. So, imagine my dismay when the very nice delivery guys (who arrived on time) knocked on the door and explained that they were only delivering the range, not hooking it up, despite what it said on the work order. Clearly they had been through this situation before: They didn't even have the stove off the truck when they spoke to me. Instead they had to explain that a plumber has to come out and hook up the oven; they couldn't. Nor could they take away the old stove. Then they asked if I wanted to send the new one back. Now, it is entirely fine that a plumber hooks up the range. Heck, they can require a priest to come by and bless it. BUT the fact that they could not bother to comunicate this piece of information to me with the VERY IMPORTANT additional news item that the installation WILL HAPPEN A DIFFERENT DAY is wildly dismissive of me, the consumer, and a crappy thing to do to the delivery guys. That means two days of sitting around at home, waiting around for someone to show up within a 3-hour time window of their choosing. The only reason there are Ds for punctuality, responsiveness and professionalism is for the efficient delivery guys and the four (yes, four) very nice customer-service women I spoke to trying to figure out why the plumber wasn't 10 steps behind the delivery truck. Oh -- and the irony: I had a plumber at the house today for another issue (see glowing review to follow). Meanwhile, the plumber hired by Home Depot finally called and -- yay -- they and quot;don't come to DC in the morning, and quot; so my 3-hour window will kill the middle of the day.
Description of Work: This review is about the delivery and installation of a new gas range plus the removal of an old range--not an appliance repair. Delivery/Installation is not an option on the pull-down list of services. Of course, I cannot review the installation of the range because it has not happened. Indeed, I now have two stoves in my house, the new one in pieces in the sun room (delivered today), the old malfunctioning one still attached to the gas line in the kitchen. The dinner party I was planning tonight is cancelled becase of an incredible disrespect for the customer -- in terms of ZERO information regarding the process for getting the appliance into the house and working.

I had to pay for the door upfront. They installed the door on 9/30/2009. The installation company damaged the door. The door was not installed properly. The wholes and hinges were spaced too wide and they tried to fix the issues by using caulk as a filler. I was promised a brand new door, but never received it. The door has since developed fungus and rot on the frame, which was supposed to be treated. I felt misinformed throughout the whole process. I tried to go to Home Depot recently to get a refund, but could not get one.

They were very good, responsive and knowledgeable. They had their installers lined up to install the water heater in two days. The installation company did a fine job as well. They carry a large inventory, but are often out of stock of critical building products. If, for example, you need a certain type of screw in a specific size, or a specific repair part, you would be better off going to an independent hardware store. The quality of products, especially lumber, is poor, with much of the product warped and, in the case of pressure-treated lumber, still almost dripping wet from chemical treatment. Prices are similar or better at dedicated lumber yards. Help can be difficult to find and staff is rarely informed about the products and how they should be used. Sometimes I have been told that something is not in stock, but have later found the item on my own. I recently spent 45 minutes waiting for help with Hilti products only to find out that, during my wait, the Hilti salesperson had left for the day. Major positive feature: Generous return policy.

Home Depot's online scheduling system made it easy to set up an appointment to get an estimate. Our salesman arrived on-time and was courteous. However, he did spend far more time than was necessary giving us a sales pitch about the advantages of Home Depot's high-end windows vs other options when all we wanted was a range of prices and options. What should have taken <20 minutes based on other estimates took closer to an hour. I ultimately did not go with Home Depot because their installation prices - around $350/window - were higher than other options I found. In addition, I was frustrated that in-store vs. in-home salespersons gave me conflicting information about whether my windows would qualify for an energy-efficiency tax credit or not.

Ordered door online (Homedepot) 6/6 "Clopay" door. WEBSITE SAYS: "1. Your Clopay installer will contact you within a few days to set up the on-site inspection of your garage door opening." "3.Once site inspection is complete and any additional charges are colleceted, your new Clopay Garage Door will be ordered. REALITY: heard nada, I called them after ~2 weeks. 2nd guy Ispoke with said installation is scheduled the 14th (! i'll be out of town),referred me to "expediter" person, got her a couple days later (she works wierd hours) she said thewere waiting for a part(s) and 'they'll call you, don't worry'. I called ~thursday (16th, 1 monthlater) asked for expediter by name - "she'sat lunch" so i left my name and number, then asked for a number of a manager. Guy says he can only transfer me to one - then i find myself on hold with the very same message i had while i was on voiccemailwaitingholdhell before i got that gut (meaning that he just dumped me back into the pool/cycle). well, its the 20th and i have yet to receive a call from Home Depot (not 1) - however I did receive a $2,000 charge on my AMEX :) I think Home Depot is taking this store and this area for granted (or worse) as if DC people can't or won't complain or go somewhere else. I've had other hints of this and am feeling a little bit of the old "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" - i feel a little shame on me. It won't happen again, and i am going to dispute the charge with AMEX and see if i can try my $ with someone else.

Every time I go into the Rhode Island Ave Home Depot it's an adventure. There are no carts available, the store is filthy, the return department has a line of 10, no one is at customer service, the shelves are disorganized and out of many things, the cashiers are slow, rude, and nearly clueless (try giving them a lag bolt). This is the worst HD I have ever been to.
Description of Work: First of all, the employees of this Home Depot are worse than horrible. After I finally got someone to help me in the door locks department, I asked the person if they had locks keyed alike or if they could re-key them. Although this was his department, his expertise was limited to looking at the boxes. He told me that what I wanted couldn't be done. I asked to see a manager who may have known about running the store, but knew nothing about locks. My only choice was to order locks from the website, keyed alike.

Save your money and nerves. Go to Lowes or private contractors if you possibly can. I live a mile from the store, and if I could possibly use them, I would. I ordered a new door and measurement on January 1, the earliest date they could give me for measurement was the 24th, a quote and installation date was promised to me by the 27th. I did not hear from them and tried to call the store on February 1st. I could not get through to anyone in the windows and doors department, installation services, managers desk, or an operator. So I called national customer service, who embarrassingly enough, also could not get through to anyone in their store. This morning, I received a call back from the store that started, "Hello, are you the person who called to complain last night." The quote they gave me was $200 above what they told me in the store, including obviously padded items like six tubes of caulk (for a single door!) and replacing perfectly good casing.

Experience could not have been worse. Took 3 reschedules to measure door. Door was ordered incorrectly twice, damaged once. Took one year (no exaggeration) to complete work and resolve billing problems (they charged us for the original door they ordered that didn't come in the size of our door). They tried to convince us to just fill in the sides of the smaller door with wood. We finally had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to resolve the issue.
