Description of Work: Made an appointment, he never showed. I called he said he forgot. We are moving on to someone else.

Description of Work: We purchased in a historic home in Old Town Alexandria and had Stephen Ortado come to provide an initial estimate on structural repair and flooring work we needed done on our home. Stephen even came out to our house a second time to get a better idea of the scope of work. Stephen seemed very knowledgable, and we assumed that he would be our choice to do the work. However, despite countless assurances that he would do so and leading us on for 4 months, Stephen failed to provide an estimate. Despite the lack of a formal estimate, we even schedule a date on which he would start job because my wife was pregnant and we needed the work done ASAP. That date came and went, but Stephen kept insisting that he was our man for the job. However, he eventually stopped returning our calls. Stephen ended up delaying progress on much needed structural repairs for almost 6 months and caused significant stress at a time when we were expecting our first child. We eventually used other contractors (Geofreeze and S.D. Lohr), who did a great job on what turned out to be about a $20,000 job. I recommend avoiding Stephen and his company Historic Structures.

Description of Work: Historic Structures works exclusively in restoring historic buildings; they do not perform typical residential remodels. They are currently restoring my historic home, and so far the work has included windows and doors.
