Get Up and Go Movers, LLC was a great moving company. They were able to work with me when I needed to change the moving time a few days before the move and things went extremely smoothly on the day of the move. The two individuals who helped me unload the UHaul showed up on time, worked quickly and professionally and were very careful with all my furniture and boxes. I would highly recommend this company.

What a frustrating experience. We confirmed 3 movers for 3 hours (from 3-6pm) for a labor-only move within our building. We wanted that package because we were moving from one condo to another, plus a storage unit (also within the building). At noon, one of the movers texted us to confirm. An hour later, he texted to cancel because of a personal issue that meant he wouldn't have transportation. We called the main number and spoke with Mark, who said we'd have to reschedule. It was only upon insisting that it had to be that day because of our nonrefundable moving fee already paid to the condo association that they managed to find a way to come as scheduled. However, only 2 movers showed up, with the clear expectation that they would be here 2 hours. The positive - they worked very hard and moved the entire condo in that time. They were rougher than I liked with some of our things - a few dings and mishandlings occurred, scratches to hardwood floors, etc. At the end of 2 hours, they said they were finished and off they went. Our storage unit did not get done. After they left, we spent an hour looking for the dolly we had rented and said they could use. We found it out on the sidewalk outside the building. No reason for it to be there - it was a 100% inside move. If we had a $10 refund for every time Mark texted the word "sorry" - for the misplaced dolly, for the cancellation/transportation issue, for his mistake in scheduling the wrong number of guys/hours, we would've only owed about $40. As it was, he called the next day to collect payment, didn't ask how things went or make any reference to the situation. Just "I need your credit card number." Given all the positive reviews here and on other sites, we were very disappointed.

We had such a wonderful move with get up and go movers in December when I had them pack our U-PACK container so that we could move from DC to Utah. They were very patient and accommodating as i changed my moving date three times! They always responded to my texts really promptly. When they came, they were very punctual and professional, polite and kind. I was at first surprised that my movers were deaf but it turned out not to be a problem at all. We were able to communicate very well and the whole move was so peaceful and calm as it was quiet. My baby got to sleep the whole time until they finished the whole house and then did his room last. It was wonderful! We didn't think they were going to be able to pack our 4 bedroom house in two hours but they did! The person I had talked to on the phone a few weeks before the move had suggested that if we broke down our Ikea furniture ourselves ahead of time and shrink wrap them it would make the move go a lot faster. Boy, was he ever right. I've never ever moved everything withing two hours! Best move ever! They even successfully moved a $6000 medical photo therapy booth carefully as we had instructed. They moved a heavy sofa bed that was tricky to get out of the basement too. Everything was packed so tightly into our U-Pack container that they saved us some money by fitting everything in less space than we had planned! And when our container got to Utah 5 days later, everything was still really compactly packed, nothing moved and nothing broke and nothing got damaged! The photo therapy booth with all of the uv lights were intact! BEST MOVERS EVER! THANK YOU!!!

Get Up and Go came prepared and worked quickly, they were able to fit our furniture into the moving van quickly within the time allotted. Our furniture arrived unharmed.

Perfectly Better than I could've imagined

They unloaded a loading dock through a freight elevator to the second floor. They were on time. They were very nice (especially Tim). The fact that they were hearing impaired was not a problem at all. They were considerate, fast and steady. They were very responsive.

This is the second time we have used Get Up & Go Movers and both times we had an excellent experience. They are easy to reach and book - even though I had to make a last minute change of date. They arrived exactly on time and worked tirelessly until the job was done. They were efficient, cheerful and very careful with our belongings. I couldn't ask for anything more! I would recommend them highly.

I recently returned to DC after being overseas several years for work. I had stored boxes and several pieces of furniture with a friend in northern Virginia and was now moving them to a storage unit in DC. I planned to rent a moving truck, and although my friend and I could handle most of the items, we wanted extra help with the larger pieces. I emailed Mark at Get Up and Go Movers about one month before the move to inquire about hiring two guys. He responded quickly and we followed up with a phone call to confirm the details. Later we exchanged text messages the day before the move to reconfirm. The day of the move my friend and I began loading the smaller items while waiting for the movers. They were supposed to arrive at noon but sent us a text saying they were stuck in traffic. They arrived at 12:15pm which wasn't a problem. They were both football players at Galludet University and quite able to do the work. They brought a pen and notebook so we could communicate if there were any questions, but there really wasn't much need. I showed them the furniture and they moved the pieces while my friend and I finished loading the boxes. We then drove back to DC and unloaded the truck. It was pretty straight-forward stuff and the guys did a good job. They brought things inside while I rearranged things in the storage unit. Once the truck was empty they helped finish stacking and moving things so it all fit well inside the unit. The entire process only took two hours from the time the movers arrived (12:15-2:15pm). The entire bill was: 2 Movers @ $70.00/hour X 2 Hours = $140.00 Flat Travel Fee = $40.00 Gratuity = $60.00 Total = $240.00 It wasn't a difficult move since none of my stuff was so expensive or nice that I had to worry about wrapping things to avoid every possibility of getting a ding in something. Overall I appreciated their speed and efficiency; they were perfect for what I needed, which was extra hands. I paid in cash after the work was completed and my only minor complaint was not getting a receipt on-site. The guys explained they don't normally give out receipts and they would tell Mark I needed one or I could email him when I got home. Before I could contact Mark he must have spoken to the movers because he had followed up with an email (less than two hours) which is all I need for my records.
