We contracted with Gentle Giant for our house move after receiving quotes from 2 other companies. Their fees were similar to those of other companies, but we felt they were a better value.For starters, they were the only company that provided me with what I thought was a very honest estimate. The two other companies intended to use one truck and 4 movers, while Gentle Giant quoted us with 2 trucks and 5 movers. I also hire them to do some packing for us and they did a superb job with all the fragile stuff in the house. A little accident happened and two vases broke, but they took care of giving us replacement value for the vases when we settle the final bill.When the estimator Kiefer Karim came to the house, he told me several times that everyone at their company was very athletic and they run back from the house to the truck every time...I was very skeptical and thought to myself that this was nothing more than a marketing pitch.... I was proven wrong and on the day of the move, we got 5 very athletic guys to handle stuff. They were always in good humor and were very careful with our belongings, loading two trucks in about 4 hours and unloading them in about 3.5. They were extra careful to not damage the walls or floors on our new house and worked tirelessly throughout the day, only taking a break for lunch after the trucks were fully loaded. The crew worked very well together and actually seemed to have fun doing what they do (if that is possible). They certainly took away a lot of the stress away from what is usually a big ordeal. While I don?t hope to move anytime soon, I will most definitely use them again in the future should the need arise. Their prices are higher than others, but having witnessed a move with a different company just across the street a week later, I can say that Gentle Giant provided us with much better value by completing our move in 8 hours or so, compared to our neighbor's 15 hour move (I would say this was PRICELESS). Finally, I was amazed that after working all day moving stuff around, these guys were in a rush to get to the Gym to pump some iron?.The whole athletic thing was no joke after all.

The men that were hired to move us made me feel like they were moving their own property. They moved quick, always running when they had nothing in their hands which made me feel like they were saving me money by moving so quickly. The men were very careful with the furniture, taking care and time to wrap and secure everything. They also laid a box on an muddy patch outside of our home so they would track mud into the house. These men are so professional and I would call them first for our next move.

AWESOME. These guys are AWESOME. They were communicative and punctual. They took time to thoughtfully look through apt and get an idea of furniture that needed to be moved. They were LIGHTENING FAST, but 100% careful with everything. They wrapped all big pieces of furniture with moving blankets, they deftly maneuvered our small hallways. Whenever it was unclear where something should go in the new house, they asked - and they were happy to move things if they were put in the wrong place by mistake. The price was already quite competitive, and we ended up getting an extra guy - at no charge - for the day (just because he needed to be with the other 2 to attend a company mtg after the move). I hope we never have to move again, but if we do, we are DEFINITELY using Gentle Giants. In the meantime, i'm recommending them to everyone I know!

Absolutely phenomenal! Kieffer Karim came out and provided a "Not Higher Than" estimate, which no other company was willing to do. Lead Hunter Smith and Gabe Samu did a great job pre-packing everything--they were very careful--not one thing scratched or broken. On moving day, they were joined by Trevor Rhodes and Adam Orshevsky--again, not a thing scratched or broken. I would absolutely use this company again.

I selected Gentle Giant based on Angie's List reviews and I am not sorry. They were not the least expensive company but they were absolutely wonderful and responsive throughout the move. They dropped boxes off at my home (as I work) so that to minimize my taking time off work. I had a 3 bedroom, 3 story town-home and was moving to a larger 3 bedroom , 3 story town-home. The stairs in the old home were rather steep and space was tight. Keifer and his crew managed beautifully. All of my things made it safe and intact to my new home. A few days before the move, I panicked as I did not think i would get everything packed. Gentle Giant sent a crew over who very quickly packed what was left. They were great! Friendly, professional, and took pride in their work. They were careful with my furniture. You get what you pay for. I would recommend them highly.

I heard from a friend that Gentle Giant was a good company, although her move was a very simple one. I called them up and the representative online recommended that I fill out their detailed questionnaire online as it will help in providing an estimate. The questionnaire turned out to be quite detailed, but it was helpful as it was user friendly and made me think more practically about the move. After submission I called again and the guy on the phone told me that we can do the move on Friday a week later, and that I should be getting a quote on my email the following day and that he temporarily booked me for Friday. However, I did not get anything the day after. I called and the guy said that he sent it but will send it again. I still didn't get anything and the weekend passed. On Monday I sent an irked email using their website "Contact Us" page. That evening I got an email from their manager (which proved that my spam filter had nothing to do with an undelivered email) asking that I call him. So I called him and, while being respectful, it was obvious he wasn't very happy about my email. I told him the situation and he said that it's my mistake to rely on one company only and that I should be obtaining quotes from several companies! I was surprised by this lecture. Anyway, I asked if a quote will be coming and when he learned that I had booked Friday he told me that it's not available and the next availability is only a week afterwards. I told him that the other guy told me Friday is available for me and his response was "I'm the manager and I'm telling you that it's not available". Don't get me wrong, he wasn't rude, but the attitude was careless in a manner of "we don't really need your business". Needless to say, I said goodbye and hired another company who got paid $2,000 that Gentle Giant lost.

We have used Gentle Giant when we were in New England and always were impressed with them. When we moved locally we asked Gentle Giant for an estimate and we were shocked at the high price. We did not pick them originally and went with Blake industries (BIG MISTAKE!) The night before the move (Sunday) I received an e-mail from Blake stating they were canceling the move due to a "warehouse equipment incident" sorry for the inconvenience. Luckily I had the estimators cellphone # number for Gentle Giant and gave him a call. Keifer was able to find a crew and trucks and have then at our house by 8 that next morning! They were competent professionals, extremely polite and friendly and always hustled. They were extra careful with our belongings and caused no damage to either house. They started at 8:30 and had us moved into our new house by 1:30! This was a house full of furniture and boxes, it was amazing. I would highly recommend Gentle Giant to anyone, they literally saved the day for us. As they say, you get what you pay for and the higher price was worth it.

I used Gentle Giant for my move last week and was very happy/impressed with Kieffer and his crew. Moving is stressful enough and moving my stuff was pain-free, I only wished I gave them more things to move instead of doing it myself. I have already recommend Gentle Giants to a co-worker and I know she will not be disappointed.

From start to finish, all the movers and sales representatives were incredibly professional and worked extremely hard. I've never been so pleased with a moving company, and we plan to use them again. As an example of their exemplary service, they called us a couple days after our move to notify us that they had found a small piece to an antique cabinet on their truck. We hadn't even noticed that the piece was missing prior to their call, but we were really happy to get it back.

This was my second time using Gentle Giant, and I am so glad I did. They are very punctual, and quick, quiet, and organized in their work (so you aren't bothering the neighbors on a weekend morning). They wrap everything very well, and even the cheapest furniture that you wouldn't think would survive a move comes out safely on the other side. They managed to get the truck backed down a very narrow alley in DC, which was very appreciated and no small feat. The same person led the moving team each time I moved - Kieffer - and he is very courteous and a pleasure to work with. One particularly ratty bookcase had the back falling off of it (even before we moved it), and one of the movers went to the trouble of fixing the back of it before he brought it in. Moving is such a stressful experience, and Gentle Giant has twice made things go much more smoothly than I expected. I would recommend them to anyone.

Working with Gentle Giant was a pleasure. We were able to discuss our needs over the phone, and the company headquarters followed-up each time with an e-mail detailing our discussions. The day before our move, the very friendly move coordinator called to go over any last details or concerns we might have. Our actual movers - Mike and Steph - were consummate professionals. I couldn't imagine being assigned movers with a better attitude or "can do" spirit. They arrived right on time and worked tirelessly and carefully to move our belongings. We were concerned about our couch being able to make it to our third floor (it wouldn't fit up the stairs), and after inspecting available options, Mike determined that it could be brought in through the second floor window (along with the bed) and up the last flight of stairs. The ingenuity and genuine care Mike and Steph took to ensure that our move went smoothly - and their great attitude throughout - made Gentle Giant worth every penny and more. They may not be the cheapest option, but I'm not sure many other companies would have been so enthusiastic about making sure we were satisfied with our move.

I would give Gentle Giant an A++ if Angie's List would let me. Dealing with Erica Gennaro on the phone to arrange the move was a dream. We had a limited window for the move and also the move-in, and she was able to accommodate all our limitations. In my experience, this is most unusual because the move involved a relatively small apartment and movers generally give you a time frame for delivery (not an actual time), especially if the move takes up only part of a truck and must go with other people's items. The company literally sent gentle giants to do all the phases of the move -- really big guys who carefully wrapped everything, carefully documented everything, carefully moved everything, and carefully delivered everything -- all on time, efficiently, and courteously. I think Gentle Giant's prices are a bit higher than other movers but the cost is well worth it. Moving is stressful and, while they couldn't remove all the stress, they made it much, much easier -- all with a smile.

Matthew and his team did an excellent job from start to finish. I would hire them again in a heart beat. They went the extra mile to accomodate my schedule needs, which I am grateful for.

Overall the move went incredibly well. For everything else that's gone wrong with this move, the movers weren't one of the bad experiences. I would happily recommend these guys. The only surprises I had were the cost of the cardboard boxes. I don't know if their prices were good or bad compared to others but I was surprised at how much it was (approx $98 for tape, paper and several dozen boxes). The other surprise was we overlooked all my clothes in the closet. I can't really fault Gentle Giants for that as I did one last walk through and I ignored my closet because the door was closed. Otherwise, they handled everything exceptionally well and with great professionalism.

They were a tremendous help in coordinating the move with the two different landlords/building engineers. They were on time and extremely pleasant to work with. Truly professional.

Gentle Giant was recommended by a friend and they bid the lowest of three and gave us an estimate with a fixed max price. They showed up on time; Kiefer (who bid the job was present and worked the entire move); the crew was very professional and actually ran when not carrying anything; and any of them would have made excellent dinner guests. This is the first positive move I've ever had, which was preceded by three horrific experiences with other local companies over the last 10 years. I highly recommend Gentle Giant.

They are very cost competitive especially if you are moving locally. They are very conscientious and handle things with care. They were courteous and even gave a value added service of removing old carpet from the house. I was satisfied with their service.
