Description of Work: Very responsive. Technician was able to come the next morning to determine the cause of the boiler not staying lit while the heating system was running. Technician spent 20-30 minutes diagnosing and fixing the problem -- a bad thermocouple that needed to be replaced. I think Fry's minimum job is $225, so while it was a shorter amount of time and labor than that, they made it so that my tenants were inconvenienced as little as possible. Many thanks!

Description of Work: they had to cut some holes in my walls to find the pipe that had broken and then fix the broken pipe, they arrived on time, quickly found the problem and fixed it at what I thought was a reasonable price, especially given how many people were having problems with frozen pipes, so they could have jacked up their prices

Description of Work: The major issue was to address a shower drain that was barely draining and backing up. I understood the technician to represent he was familiar with the piping layout in our condo unit as they have done work in this condo community. He tried two types of "snakes" and spent considerable time, but was unsuccessful. He thought the pipe had been broken, etc. He was apparently not familiar with the piping layout. After contacting the condo office, I was referred to an individual who knew it was a common pipe between two adjoining units and knew where to find that line and run the snake. Problem solved, but not by Fry.

Description of Work: These guys were terrific. Our furnace was acting erratically and not heating the house. Given the recent cold spell on the east coast, this was a problem. Dave from Fry Plumbing Heating was able to come out on a couple hours notice, diagnose the problem (pump had gone bad), drain down the system, replace the pump (including some welding so the new one would fit), re-bleed all the radiators, and get the system back up, all in the same afternoon. However, was evident later that night that only the front half of the house radiators were heating. Called the next day, Dave was on another job, but Johnny came out immediately, diagnosed the problem (air locked in the pipes going to the rear), and managed to re-balance things to get all the radiators firing. No additional charge for the follow-up. They also explained things quite well, and suggested things we could do to prevent similar problems in the future. Would definitely use Fry again.

Description of Work: My A/C was quite old and needed a new compressor. They gave me the pros and cons of buying a new compressor or buying a new unit. I told them I wanted only a TRANE A/C. They priced both oprions and I was satisfied with purchasing the new TRANE. The row townhouse, located in the historic section of Capitol Hill is over 150 years old. They needed to use a crane for removal and installation. They were very professional and cleaned up everything. They also had to work inside the home and covered absolutely everything with plastic. I was impressed with all their work and most importantly the price. Strongly recommend.

Description of Work: In October of 2008 I requested an estimate for installing three HVAC units in my house, creating three zones. One Gas Package unit, and two heat pump units. Four months later in February 2009 and after many calls Fry finally got back to me with, we are to busy and your job does not fit our company. The response was fine but I needed it four months ago. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because of the high recommendation from this list.
