I called the company twice asking for an estimate to install two new faucets, and they did not return my call. It is too bad, as the owner of the company, Marshall, was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful when I had questions on work he had done for the previous owner of my home. Seems the administrative aspects of the company could use improvement, as the technical seems sound.
Description of Work: None, they did not return my calls.

I ran into a problem right during the big snowstorm when our upstairs radiators would not fill up with water. I became really worried when my handyman and the first plumber to come out to the house could not get the problem fixed. Community plumbing solved the problem with a combination of tenacity and creativity, by recognizing that the pump wasn't working, but using the laundry service to fill the boiler and radiators instead, and providing an estimate to fix the pump later, after the snow emergency was over. He came over fast and was very friendly and professional (a former city plumbing inspector). I would recommend him.
Description of Work: Fix problem with radiators.

So far I've been very pleased with Community Plumbing. The owner, Marshall, is a really nice guy. Knowing I am undertaking a house renovation on my own, he calls periodically to check in to see how I'm doing. Anyway, I gutted the bathroom and the general contractor was supposed to redo everything, including plumbing. The GC later said that it would be extra to re-rough the pipes up to code-about $1,000 extra. He should have told me that before. I called Marshall and he came by to give an estimate of $450. Marshall's guys came by on time and did everything in a couple of hours. My next task for Marshall is to reposition the radiator lines so that I can replace the radiators that had been removed sometime before.
Description of Work: Re-roughed the bathroom pipe lines to bring them up to code and roughed in water supply lines for a claw-foot tub. The water supply line for the claw-foot tub was moved a couple of inches from the wall to fit the tub. The toilet line was moved a couple inches to the left, so it wasn't so close to the tub. The drainage line for the sink was originally installed in an upward angle away from the sink instead of a downward angle away from the sink and the hot and cold water lines were reversed. It seemed that whoever did the original work looked at the code book for plumbing and then threw everything out the window. Marshall fixed everything.

I am currently in the process of purchasing a home with a 203K renovation loan. I called Community Plumbing for an estimate. The owner, Marshall, came by on time as scheduled. I learned that Marshall was a former DC plumbing inspector. He certainly knew his stuff. He pointed out plumbing that was installed improperly by the former owner and he pointed out ways that I could do things more efficiently and less expensively. His price was also lower than those of the other plumbers that provided estimates. So far I am pleased with the level of service from Community Plumbing & Heating. I will update this report once I've closed on the house and the renovations are complete.
Description of Work: Cleaned/serviced boiler and redirected tee's on supply and return lines. Replaced shut off valve on hot water heater. Installed drain tube on hot water heater. Installed gas shutoff valve and rigid gas line on hot water heater. Replaced flue. Replaced circulator pump. Connected dishwasher and gas dryer. Installed and connected gas line to stove. Connected lines under kitchen sink.

Community Plumbing was subcontracted and paid by our general contractors for the bathroom remodeling. It was obvious they had worked together before by how smoothly everything went. They came exactly when they were needed to keep things on schedule, did the work required by them, cleaned up, and that was that. I would definitely hire them again for plumbing work of any kind and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They installed new fixtures, a bathtub and shower, double vanity, and a commode in my bathroom. They also reconnected all the plumbing and replaced the pipes that lead to the new fixtures.

It went very well. The receptionist was very pleasant and accommodating in setting an appointment. The plumber was approximately 1/2 hour late but called to apologize. He was professional and polite. He returned immediately when I called with a problem which he correctly identified and corrected.
Description of Work: 1.Repaired a frozen garbage disposal. 2.Removed an electronic faucet and replaced it with a new one (which I provided). 3. Repaired a constantly flowing toilet.
