This experience was one of my best with a contractor, and owning an old house I have had dozens of terrible experiences with contractors. The person who manages their schedule was unbelievably pleasant and responsive, explained my options to me and accurately estimated my likely costs. The plumber and his assistant arrived on time, were meticulous in their work, cleaned up beautifully, explained what they had done, and it ended up costing a few hundred dollars less than I expected. I will absolutely be using them for any and all plumbing work I have in the future. Raciel and his team are a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: I needed to have a replacement water heater installed and several valves replaced in my 1906 rowhouse in DC.

Description of Work: Found and fixed where the pipe was leaking within the wall upstairs and down through the kitchen light fixtures! Also, I had them back a month later to fix a shower issue in the basement as well as fixing an outdoor hose bib which had frozen over the winter.

 + -1 moreAs with many jobs on old houses things did not go as planned. The clean out was a cast iron hub and spigot designed packed with oakum caulk and lead...in this case way too much lead. After getting the old lead and oakum cleaned ouf the joints the cleanout refused to turn. In addidtion, the cleanout plug was frozen. Fearing he might shatter the pipe the plumber suggested that I replace it with a PVC cleanout with hubless connections. I agreed and he left his assistant to cut the stack while he ran for the supplies he would need. When he returned he went to work on installing the pvc, only to find he had mismeasure the PVC. He stopped the clock right there and told me the rest of the job was on him, which he completed to my satisfaction.

 + -1 moreA person picked up my call. Immediately evaluated urgency. Offered next day visit but customer (me) could not make time. They accommodated my schedule within reason (work hours, not a weekend or late). Told me to buy some materials before they came. Though they seem as comfortable in English, dealt with me in Spanish, which I prefer. Arrived on time (actually, I was 15 minutes late). Explained to me step by step, showing corroded and broken pieces. Did not stop working until he was finished. Received several calls but he told caller he would call back later or that they should call the office. Kept noise to a minimum, cleaned after himself, courteous manners.
Description of Work: Problem 1: Dishwasher water outflow coming up the vent pipe on top of sink. Solution 1: Bypassing vent, changing clogged pipes Problem 2: Under sink garbage disposal ("Insinkerator") separating from drain pipe. Solution 2: Add extension to drain pipe, tightened connections, install bracketed-support system to support drainpipe. Problem 3: Replacing bathroom faucet and water feed pipes inside vanity cabinet. Solution 3: Take out old fixtures and tubes and replace entirely with more durable materials. Problem 4: Leaky shower. Needs replacement of diverter inside the wall. This agreed with previously obtained opinion from a handyman. Solution 4: He offered to make the hole in the wall and repair the plumbing but said he would rather not do carpentry/masonry. Said we could fix the hole later or first install and access panel. Decided to delay until customer (me) gets someone else to install the access panel.

Description of Work: We needed to replace old broken bathtub/shower fixtures. Sounds like an easy job, but NOT! The existing devise that sits behind the tub and regulates the water flow/temp did not fit the new fixture. In fact, we think it was installed when the house was built. It was cemented into the tub. In addition, the pipe contected to this devise the takes water the shower head was not easily removed. So, they had to dig out the old devise, cut a hole in the wall at the top to access the shower head and put in the new fixtures.

 + -1 moreI called them at 10:30am, and they were at my house at 1:30pm. They were very pleasant, and quickly assessed the need for a replacement disposal. They went to Home Depot and picked it up, replaced the disposal, and were done in less than 90 minutes (including the trip to Home Depot). I was pleased with the ability to get a same day appointment, and their quick service! I did not feel that they were trying to add on time to obtain more money from me. The total cost included the cost of the disposal.

They recommended a very straightforward repair to the leak once identified and we tested the repair for verification. Overall, we were very pleased with the work and the estimate of time to identify and fix the potential problem (1-3 hours) was right on. It only took 2-1/2.

When they realized that they were fully booked ahead of Thanksgiving, they took the time to walk me through a fix I could do myself in the meantime ahead of getting service.
