Brookland Plumbing

Brookland Plumbing was great, and I would definitely use them again. Eileen, who handles the scheduling, was extremely nice and accommodating in getting the initial appointment scheduled. My situation was not an emergency, so I was able to wait a couple of days for the plumber to come out. I'm in the process of a do-it-yourself bathroom renovation but needed a professional plumber to install the new toilet. The floor of my bathroom is not level and the old toilet was installed in a crooked position, so I was particularly worried about ensuring a tight seal on the new toilet to avoid leaks. Luis, the assistant plumber who performed the work, was extremely polite and did good, efficient work. Eileen had warned me in advance that a standard toilet installation usually takes about an hour and a half, but given my issues, it might take a bit longer. Her estimation was accurate. Despite the fact that Luis had to deal with the uneven floor, corroded old bolts, etc., he got it done in 2 hours. He even helped my dad put up a new piece of wall board behind the toilet before putting the new toilet tank on. Great, efficient, friendly service for a reasonable price -- I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to others. I called mid-morning after confirming that our home warranty wouldn't cover the work. The woman who answered the phone was polite, helpful, and easy to talk to. She asked if it would work to send someone over in the afternoon and patiently worked with me while I tried to figure out when I could be home from work. The fellow who arrived right on time (Luis, I believe?) was personable and worked quickly. I explained the problem and got right to work. After snaking out the bathtub drain he asked me for cleaning supplies and a garbage bag, showed me the pile (seriously) of hair that he removed from the pipe, and did a great job of cleaning up. After that he quickly fixed the downstairs sink, which didn't need to be snaked at all. He was pleasant guy to have in the house: he hummed a bit as he worked and was nice to my cat.

Personable and professional service. Worked extremely hard to get water heater installed in a very tight space; flat fee for installation so we definitely got our money's worth.

Called Brookland with a long list of work needing to be done - pipe to backyard hose burst over the winter, dishwasher doesn't drain properly, want to install faucet fixture for clawfoot tub, and toilet sometimes seems to back up to tub drain. Had to make the appointment a week away as they were busy. None of my issues were emergency so I waited. I was surprised to see a team of two plumbers - they explained that it's faster that way. They could have spent time (and my money) diagnosing the dishwasher issue but decided quickly it was a failing pump, not plumbing. Took the most time installing the tub fixture, they had to customize piping to suit and did a great job. I will call them again.

Raciel's wife was very helpful on the phone when I scheduled the appointment, letting me know which supplies I might want to pick up to prepare for Raciel's visit. Raciel & his assistant were right on time, very friendly, explained things to me as they were fixing them (I wanted to learn). As I mentioned above, it took a lot longer than he or I expected, and it was therefore more expensive than I'd planned, but the dripping was driving me crazy, so it was necessary.

They came on time, and took care of my problem in an hour.

I love Raciel. My house is 85 years old so having a good plumber is pretty critical. I've recently gotten to know Raciel better than I'd like but without fail, he and his partner respond quickly to calls (and emergencies!), are on time, do great work, and are totally honest. The second time he came my house it was an easy fix so he asked if there was anything else I needed since I'd only used 15 minutes of the 1 hour charge! Today, I called at 8:00am with an "emergency" (dripping water into my basement) and though he had a full schedule today and tomorrow, he was able to come by at 1:30 and fix the problem. In addition, he spent some time looking at my furnace and helping me understand better some of the issues with my house and how I might resolve them (apparently I have a spare furnace in the basement with a lit pilot light and it doesn't heat anything!).

Speaking to Eileen on the phone was a pleasure. They had a last-minute cancellation and so were able to schedule me the same week. I was without heat, so that was a relief. They arrived on time, and Raciel's assistant reconnected the radiators very quickly by himself. Raciel arrived later and went through the job with me. I was already aware that my furnace had an old-fashioned valve that required hand filling each winter, so a modern valve, together with backflow preventer and pressure-reducer, were necessary. They worked for a few more hours when I was at work. The heat was working when I came home, and I spoke on the phone with Raciel to go over the work. Eileen was friendly and responsive about billing. I was of course extremely grateful to have my heat working, and they seemed to me honest, helpful, and competent.

The quality of their work was good. I will use them again in the future.

They arrived punctually at 8:30 and worked until almost 4:00 installing our new washer and dryer. Our house is 81 years old and never had a washer or dryer, so the installation took a good bit of time and work to drill into the cement floor to install a larger drain pipe, run the new pipe, and to drill through our outer brick wall to vent the dryer. They gave us an option for what type of pipe I wanted (copper or PVC) and were informative about cost and benefits of each--we went with PVC. We found that I was missing a part for the dryer vent and they stayed and worked while I went to Home Depot to pick up the necessary part. They did a great job and were very neat and clean. This is the first experience I have ever had with a plumber that didn't leave the work area a complete mess. In fact, it was practically spotless when they left. I found Raciel to be a great plumber and I thought I got a good deal for my money. Our sink just clogged and I have scheduled another appointment with Raciel/Brookland Plumbing for tomorrow (I called this evening at 9:00 PM) and he is coming tomorrow afternoon.

Loved the fact that Raciel's wife sets the appointments. She is a very pleasant and down to earth person who is, like her husband, no nonsense. Though there was a change in the day the service was to be performed, I was informed of this in advance and appreciated the call. DUe to this problem, my basement flooded and carpet was ruined and I could not use my sink or the dishwasher, so getting that fixed was a huge bonus! The work looks fantastic and they have guaranteed the quality of the work. They were clean, quiet and speedy. So the job which I thought was going to cost me a bundle, was in fact, reasonably priced. I will definitely use/recommend this family business again. Over and over!

The company was extremely responsive. I called the day before and they were able to work my needs in around another job. The individual who performed the work was extremely professional, thorough and made sure everything was clean when he finished. I had to call this company to fix a toliet that was supposed to have been repaired by a handyman. Since they charge by the hour and the individual worked quickly he was able to install the faucets I had planned to put in myself. What a gem of a company!!!!!

They showed up when they said they will show up. They are going to bill me after they are sure that there is no longer a leak.

When I called their main number I actually got a human being and they were very nice. They had to call me back t schedule the appointment. Why don't contractors have calendars on their phones like other professionals? Anyway, they called me back quickly and the woman was very nice and walked me through everything. No surprises! I was hoping they would have earlier and later hours to accomodate working folks, but I was able to make it work. They charge for the first hour and 15 min for the price of one hour and prorate after that. I thought that was very considerate. Again, he was done so quicly that I had to think of things for him to look at. He showed up right on time at 8:30. That was helpful so I could head to the office as early as possible.

I had an excellent experience. Mr. Suarez explained exactly what needed to be done and offered alternative methods he could take (more expensive for better aesthetics or less for a good practical repair). I really appreciated his attention to detail, his no nonsense approach. Most importantly, I felt Mr. Suarez operated with a lot of integrity; didn't try and sell me things or services I didn't need. I will definitely call Brookland Plumbing back for future plumbing work.

Raciel responded within an hour and did excellent work. He left the access door to the pipes open so that the area would dry out. His wife Eileen followed up making sure the house would be locked before Raciel would leave. Very professional, excellent work which is garanteed. He helped save our sorry butts. We now have a plumber for our house gutting project. Thank you Raciel and Eilene.

SAME DAY SERVICE! Great service! Showed up 5 minutes early, was very helpful in finding the street side master water shutoff.

I contacted Brookland Plumbing to find why my second floor bathroom was leaking into my dining room. They came over and cut open the ceiling looking for the leak. After a lot of water running, nothing seemed to leak. Since they were on the premises, I decided to ask if they could use the visit to install a garbage disposal which I had reccently purchased. They did that. I then inquired if they could hook up my icemaker water line. They did that. I was really please that they were so accommodating so I asked that they look at the pipes in my basement and give me a quote for replacement. The pipes were original to the house which was built in 1926 so needless to say, my water pressure was nil. While in the basement, we looked at the water heater to see if it was close to expiring. It was. They gave a quote for that. The following week, they did the work. It was done neatly and quickly. We never did figure out the water leak but after I caulked everything and resealed the marble floor, it looks like that was the problem. I liked this company very much will use them again for any plumbing issues that arise. It is nice to be able to say to my friends that I have this great plumber. .

I have previously used Raciel and his team to switch out my kitchen sink and faucet for new equipment and he was prompt, pleasant, professional, and right on his estimate. Dealing with Ilene in the office was a joy as well. So of course they are now my regular plumbers for anything I need. I got an appointment for first thing in the morning within days of my call. When Raciel had trouble at school dropping off his children before coming to my house, Ilene called extremely apologetic and they both felt horrible. Having just gone through a summer of nightmares dealing with the Sears service company (A&E) over a warranty repair that took five visits, and their inability to even make a 9 hour appointment window, and their lack of contrition when they regularly miss it, this kind of customer service and connection is so incredibly valuable and I am so incredibly grateful. There's not a single person in this company who hasn't been a joy to deal with. And $125 an hour for two very competent and efficient workers (Raciel and his assistant) seems fine to me. I HIGHLY recommend Brookland. As for my other ratings comments, I have to be honest that the final repair was a little more than the original estimate, but that was done while he was here to do the sink, and I totally trust and understand why there may have been some additional complications that caused the extra hour or so over the estimate. I'm perfectly fine with the cost.

Because of Angie's List, I decided to take a risk and schedule an estimate with Brookland despite the $50 fee (credited back if you select them for the work). Raciel showed up at the scheduled time, and his estimate sounded reasonable, so I scheduled an appointment for the next week. On the day of the appointment, they were about an hour late because they had to pick up supplies. However, I did not learn of this until I called to make sure they were still coming. But once they showed up, everything went smoothly and exactly according to the estimate. The extension was installed neatly and works perfectly. Now I can grill outdoors! I would definitely use Brookland again.

Raciel is great! I highly recommend using him. He gave us a very fair price and does excellent work. I would use him again without hesitation.

Very professional. Kept me informed of a delay in the arrival of the plumber. Arrived and fixed the problem quickly. I have used Brookland Plumbing before and will definitely use them again.

The plumber came over and could not fix the problem initially because he had to order a new part. We scheduled a second date and he came and finished the job. Even though he actually spent more than one hour, they charged us the initial quote of $125. They accommodated us by allowing us to be the first call in the morning so that we would not have to wait there since that is a rental apartment for us. Another company estimated that it would cost us $300 to have this problem fixed, but Brookland did it for $125 plus the cost of the new part.
