Brookland Plumbing

Brookland's plumber fixed the water pressure problem that we had called about very quickly, so used the remaining hour we had scheduled to deal with other issues: snaked clogged drain, and provided advice on faucet problems. Brookland's office was very responsive in communications about our appointment and our need to reschedule.

My overall experience has been GREAT! This is my second time using Brookland Plumbing and I will continue using them and I highly recommend them.

When I first called, I asked if they could be out that morning, since I needed to go to work. They weren't sure initially, but called back within an hour, and someone was at my house within 40 minutes of that. Quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem, and also took a look at some other issues in another sink and with my garbage disposal. Solid, professional work, explained everything that was going on. I couldn't be happier and would definitely recommend and call again.

Louis was incredibly professional and friendly. I scheduled the appointment 5 days in advance. I was provided with a reminder call the day before, and on the morning of the service, the company called and asked if I would be available if Louis were available to come early, which worked out very well for me. Louis arrived, was very pleasant, tolerated my giant puppy assisting in a small space. He was knowledgable, efficient, and very respectful. He replaced the seal on a toilet that was warping my hardwood floor. He also took care of a broken/cracked handle in a secondary bathroom which required a little additional fitting. The price was fantastic and very fair. I would absolutely use Brookland Plumbing again, and I would certainly recommend them.

The overall experience was excellent. The plumbers arrived on time, were very professional, and were able to handled unexpected pipes that began to leak. This required replacement of older galvenized pipes. They had hoped to have the work completed sooner, however, it took longer than expected. I appreciated thefact that they worked diligently to be sure that everythig was correctly done and completed. The plumber and owner Raciel had a copy of his license to show me while on site. This was very professional. Brookland Plumbing does not normally do Saturday calls; however, they agreed to help us out on Saturday--it took most of the day. The receptionist at Brookland Plumbing was exceptional. I called three plubming companies but eventually went with Brookland Plumbing because of the customer service provided by the receptionist, Silvina. She was vey responsive to me as a customer. She called to provide information and worked out something for me so that the plumbers would come out on a Saturday so that we could have hot water. She also assisted me in purchasing a water heater with another company and called ahead to ensure that all the parts needed for the hot water heater needed would be ready. I only had to call in to pay for the water heater and Brookland Plumbing picked it up. Silvina provided information and put everything in writing to be sure I understood what I was getting into. On yesterday, 2/12/13, I reached out to Brookland Plumbing for another plumbing issue in my bathroom. A plumber was sent out and the repair was done the same day! I would highly recommend their services.

During a recent cold snap, a couple of my pipes started to freeze - one an outside line that I was unable to turn off because of a stripped valve and the other a pipe that was not well-enough insulated in a outside wall. I called Brookland for advice on what needed to be done. The woman in the office responded to my voicemail within 10 minutes and offered very helpful advice on what I could do to start thawing the pipes. She also explained that she could send a plumber out to check my pipes, but she also made clear that that would probably not be a good value for me because Brookland doesn't do insulation work and I could take many of the same steps to thaw the pipes on my own. I really appreciated her honesty on that point. I ended up having the plumbers come out to replace the stripped valve so that I would better prepared next time. A team of 2 plumbers arrived within 3 hours of my original call - which I felt was exceptional since I'm sure they were busy with burst pipe issues that day. I received multiple calls updating me on when the plumbers would arrive as well. Once there, the plumbers were friendly and helpful and explained the work that needed to be done. They got to work quickly and finished what turned out to be a more complicated job pretty close to their original estimate. The hourly rate matched what I was told on the phone and I felt that the parts cost was very reasonable. Overall, Brookland was great and I will definitely use them again.

This company is superb in workmanship, punctuality and the best in professionalism. One great company. Would refer to anyone.

Luis showed up right on time, was professional, efficient, helpful and great to deal with. I will definitely hire Brookland Plumbing again.

They called me back within 15 minutes of my 7:45 a.m. call and had someone at the house by 9 a.m. (even calling, apologetically, to let me know he would be 10 minutes late because of traffic). The plumber couldn't have been nicer, explained exactly what he would do, set out tarps to make sure he left no mess at all, completely cleaned up after himself, etc. He gave me a reasonable estimate and when the job took longer than expected (old pipes), he didn't raise the price. They were totally reliable. I will definitely call them first next time.

They were originally scheduled to come on Tuesday. They called in the morning -- exactly as they said they would -- to confirm the appointment. When it was appointment time, the office person called to explain that the client just before us was having a complete plumbing meltdown / emergency and they would, unfortunately, have to reschedule. The office person explained exactly what was happening because it was important to her for us to understand they weren't just blowing us off. On Thursday, they called again to confirm the appointment. At appointment time (pretty much on the dot) the office called to say they would be about 15 minutes late because they had just run into some traffic. They showed up exactly 15 minutes later. The two gentlemen were polite, professional, and pleasant. Once they got the hot water faucet off, they showed me the bits of washer that had disintegrated and were clogging up the line. They explained that they would need to replace the stem, went out and got the part, came back and fixed it. In addition, they checked the cold water faucet, found the threads stripped, and put in some epoxy, complimentary!, to tighten it up. They were done in 2 hours and 20 minutes, charged me for 2 hours, honored the Angie's List coupon, and showed me the receipt for the replacement stem. I wish *all* home repair service people were just like these guys!

We have a very old cottage and the pipe is not working properly. He took everything apart until he find the problem. At first he could not scrape so he took special connection, filter, and flushed it out and scrape further. He is good in solving the problems. He is also good about telling everything that is good for old pipes, he is very informative. I also had a problem on our bathroom when the shower water does not come out he looked on the problem for free for me and told my husband the necessaries that should be done.

Brookland Plumbing was very responsive to our initial inquiry and follow up calls. We were very impressed with Brookland Plumbing's professionalism and integrity. The installation of the hot water heater went smoothly, though it took a little time to deal with the ancient set up that was replaced. We wanted to purchase the heater ourselves and BP supplied recommendation of brands and supply source. The system has been working perfectly and we are very pleased! During the install Brookland Plumbing discovered some serious issues with the DC city line that fed our house. These issues complicated the work significantly but they went above and beyond to make sure we were not without water and that when they left the work site we were taken care of and not left hanging. I can't say the same for DC Water. Brookland Plumbing are personable, knowledgeable, and capable. They stand by their work and their customers. Thank goodness we chose them to help us sort out our first home! Thanks Raciel and Silvina! We're finishing the basement and will be calling on you again very soon!

They are the best - greatest experience I could have imagined. We had a leak under our sink and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It was small and then got worse. I called Brookland over the weekend and they came over the following Tuesday. I got a squishy timeline for when they'd show but they were very honest about fitting me between jobs and they don't know if they would run into complications etc. They also called to update me on the timeline which was great. They diagnosed the leak as a cracked garbage disposal. Said I should go buy a new one and they would install it and not charge me for the first visit. That was awesome and they came back the day after I got it and installed. Then, something came loose and it started leaking again. They came the very next day, for free, tightened everything up and put some extra secures in place to prevent anything from coming loose. I hope I don't need a plumber again but if I do I am definitely calling Brookland.

I contacted Brookland Plumbing via email in regards to having new pipes installed in a 2 unit house. I received a phone message the next day and from what I could make out, the person stated they do not do that type of work. I called back and got the receptionist, who was the one that left the message, told her who I was and she stated again " we do not do that type of work". Then she said "the owner is injured right now and can't do any work". She then stated they do not have a license to do work in Washington, DC. Then as I started to inquire about what she said since it seemed kind of odd to me, she said " thank you for calling". I attempted to ask my question again and I got "thank you for calling" (again)...which seemed rude and unprofessional. How is it that a company named after a DC neighborhood (Brookland) and located in DC does not have a DC license? I still don't know what type of work they don't do....plumbing?

It was a very good experience. I will use them again.

I e-mailed them last night at 7pm inquiring about replacing a recessed spigot that had been leaking into a wall causing drywall and moisture issues. It wasn't an emergency as I discovered it had been leaking for awhile. They called me first thing this morning and scheduled an appointment today that was convenient for me. They came at exactly the time they said they would. It was a simple job and they did it quickly and at a very fair price. Everyone was courteous and friendly. Will use them again!

1st thing was that Brookline Plumbing walked me through a check to see if I could make a simple repair over the phone, at no cost. When it was determined that the problem was bigger than that, they made an appointment that was convenient with my schedule. The employee was professional and provided me with some good advise as the repairs were made. I will continue to use this and only this Plumbing Company because...you can trust them and they do an outstanding job.

My experience with Brookland Plumbing was a pleasure from start to finish. They were very responsive to my phone call, and they were able to schedule an appointment very quickly. When the plumber was delayed finishing a previous job, they called to tell me he would be about 30 minutes late, which was very much appreciated (sadly, it's somewhat rare to find such good communications with many contractors). The plumber was friendly, efficient and did good work.

Was difficult work as the gas lines were buried in masonry walls. Very positive experience and would highly recommend.

Another great experience with Brookland Plumbing! From making the appointment to advice on how to save money on the job by buying parts in advance everything went smoothly. I had five items that needed addressing and Luis flew through the house resolving them--including one that had been misdiagnosed by another plumbing company. All along the way Luis communicated what he was doing and presented me options before proceeding. I will definitely be using them again! Thank you so much Brookland Plumbing!

I had a leak that was coming from my master bathroom and through the ceiling of my first floor. One of the Brookland plumbers came out and made a few small holes in the ceiling to access the plumbing and identify the leak. He did a few quick tests on various sources of water from the bathroom and was able to pinpoint a crack in the tiling as the source. He was extremely professional and made sure I could see everything and understood the problem. Since it was a tile repair it wasn't something he was able to do but he did walk me through what I needed to have done with a tiling contractor. He had laid plastic over everything and made sure to clean up every last piece of dry wall. Afterwards he walked me through some other small plumbing issues I was experiencing and gave me some great advice on maintenance. Late that afternoon my hot water heater broke and I called Brookland back and wanted to schedule another service call for the next day if at all possible. They sent the same plumber back out that evening after his last call. They have earned all my future plumbing business.

Came on time and was very pleasant throughout. He made sure I did not waste money on services/products I did not need.

Communication with the front office went well. I first spoke to them by phone and then used email. They pointed out that there was a flat price for the installation ($550) and that for an additional charge ($185) they could pick up the water heater from a recommended supplier, which I chose to do. (The supplier had competitive prices and I wanted them to deal with returning it if there were sizing issues, etc.) The date was set for the following week. The owner of the company plus an assistant showed up on time, removed the old heater, installed the new one, and added the expansion tank. Everything went smoothly and I was happy with the service and price (which came in $200 less than a competitor). The owner was also happy to answer questions I had regarding the annual maintenance of a water heater.
