We ordered 1/2 a cord of “2 year seasoned” firewood. The wood was delivered on time and stacked for us where we asked. However the wood hasn’t been seasoned more than 6 months. It hisses when burned and many pieces still have the bark firmly attached. Any wood seasoned 2 years would have loose, brittle, dry bark if any all all after being transferred, dumped and stacked. If you have room to store the wood and can wait a year for it to season, it’s a great deal especially if you get a cord or more. I needed the wood for this winter and unfortunately most of the wood is going to sit until next year. Pictures of pieces with bark included.

He came one week after the date scheduled which was not a problem for me as I was not in a hurry. He did a poor job in the seeding, the landscape where he had planted the plants that I had purchased half of the area was not covered with landscape fabric. I even told him I would buy the fabric but he said it would not be the same quality as his. I found this out when was adding some plants. At the end he charged me an additional 200.00 dollars for the removal and disposal of the brush that he had removed, which he never mentioned. He never removed the stump, he said he never included that in the price. The brush he dumped in the back yard. I had checked Angie's list before I started and did not listen to the negative reviews, but I was desperate and needed the work and the price was phenomenal. The contract was barely negligible and stupid me was so trusting that I did not question it, I just trusted him. My advice if you use him, get the contract in writing that you can read, and do not pay him till you have inspected his work. I hope this helps the next person make a better choice. I normally do not do this but I do not want anyone else to be duped like I was!
Description of Work: I saw John's sign that advertised 40-70% on his landscape work and called him. He met me at the house that we are rebuilding. He said that he would remove the old bush stumps that surrounded the house, landscape with grass seed two areas, plant one area with plants and remove a large tree stump that had been pulled out of the ground from a storm. Quote was 1250.00.

John and his guys were terrific. His price was exactly what he said it would be, and always let us know when there would be additional fees for extra work. They showed up when they said they would, and completed the job on schedule. They were respectful of our property, cleaned up, and were a pleasure to have around. We will use him again next season.
Description of Work: Total landscaping service and design, including bluestone pathways and railroad tie work. Also built a Bocce court and horseshoe pit.

Description of Work: The ad in the paper read 2 year seasoned firewood 225.00 a cord stacked free yes thats right stacked free. Well when he arrived 3 hours late I had the pallets set up and everything ready for a cord of stacked (dry) wood (which he assured me it was) The wood looked good when he arrived with a full truck full. I remained outside and conversed with him and his partner until it got too cold so I told him I would get the money pay him and I was going in the house to warm up they could finish the job. I gave him the money and as I shut my front door the truck took off. The wood was not stacked as a cord of wood should be which was the first thing that caught my eye second if I got 1/2 a cord I was lucky third the wood was wet and is very hard to burn. I will never use John Spector again and would advise anyone else to stay away it seems he is deceitful!!

John is big on promises and even bigger on excuses. We agreed that he could do the landscape work/seeding while we were away on vacation becaise he promised that someone would come by to monitor/water etc. I don't believe that ever came by as the seeding and topsoil all washed away. John said he would fix. The "fix" amounted to scattering some grass seed and a bit of straw on ground that was washed of topsoil. He never stained the gate to the deerfencing, and we ultimately did that ourselves. We reseeded the drainage area ourselves (the lawn area will need professional attention). I would never hire John again for any service at all.
Description of Work: Built a retaining wall, planted a smaill area for lawn, instaled drainage, installed deer fencing.
