Ernest responded to my service request promptly. I contacted him because I was familiar with the quality of his work from a similar job he did for us nearly 4 years ago. The original bath and shower surround he resurfaced has held up beautifully, so we decided to have the same type of work done in another bathroom. He came when he said he would, the work was completed in the time estimated (approx 5 hours), the price was as quoted, and the job was meticulously done. We now have a beautiful new bathtub for a fraction of the cost of installing an acrylic liner. I would highly recommend his services. I did contact another bath re-finisher just to double check his pricing both 4 years ago and before hiring him this time. Ernest's prices were most competitive on both occasions. I would highly recommend his services.

Ernest did a great job. The refinished bathtub/shower unit looks brand new. It took him about 4-1/2 hours, and we were able to use the unit 24 hours after he finished. My husband and I are so impressed that we will be retaining him to resurface our laminate kitchen counters.

Ernest arrived and started the prep work. Like most of the time the prep work is everything. Ernest was careful to protect the walls where his equipment brushed against. The actual resurfacing took little time. Clean up was very quick. Beyond anyone's control, but for informational purposes the residual odor took slightly less than a week to evacuate. Very professional service and good background music as well!

When I called Ernie promptly called me and we set up an appointment. He was very neat and professional when he did the job. The smell was strong but we had exterior windows in both bathrooms, so it was liveable. The units looked great. After using the units for awhile I noticed a small slightly rought spot in the shower unit. I called Ernie and he again promptly returned my call and we set up a time for him to come and look at it. When he came he was able to fix the spot very quickly. We are happy with the results and would recommend him for painting fiberglass units a different color.
Description of Work: We had a full fiberglass bath tub/shower in 70's green, and a shower in 70's blue with blue tile above the shower. We had everything painted white.

Ernest did an excellent job. He was able to make this badly pitted and scratched surface look like new! He spent several hours working on it, because the tub was in bad condition to start. I had not realized how bad it was, and had not been able to let him know in advance that this would be a particularly time-consuming job. But in spite of this, Ernest stayed and finished the job in about five hours of continuous work, with care and professionalism. He arrived on time, explained what was needed, why price adjustment was needed, and worked for hours until it was completely finished and looked like new. I had never seen it looking so well! I would recomend this company and would definitely use Mr. Resurface again.
Description of Work: This was a difficult resurfacing/reglazing job on an old bath tub in a 1930s colonial house in West Hartford. The tub had been badly pitted and scratched in the past by the use of equipment such as, shower benches, bath mats, and chairs for elderly persons; and there had apparently been a subpar earlier attempt to reglaze by another company in the past. The result was a difficult and time consuming re-surfacing and re-glazing job for Mr. Resurface.

This job was an old large square farmers tub with to seats. It was a beast to strip and it had a lot of filling that needed to be done. I got the tub showroom ready five hours later. Thanks for the kind review.

From our first conversation Ernest was professional + helpful in planning this project. The original est. was the final price, any questions we asked Ernest supplied answers. Finally, Ernest was very careful from his first step in the preparation of the job to making sure that he left our home in the state it was when he first arrived. He left our home the better due to his professional workmanship, thanks Ernest. I highly recommend Ernest.

Mr. Resurface (Ernest) refinished our tub and surrounding tile. He did a wonderful job on that! However, we were also having the rest of our bathroom remodeled. We had asked prior to the beginning of any of the work if we should do the resurfacing project first before taking down tile on the rest of the walls and retiling the floor, painting, etc. Ernest said "no", and that we should do everything else first and the resurfacing after. The newly painted walls, new floor, new counter unit with marble top were covered, but not securely. We had overspray of white paint on the painted walls, on some areas of the floor, on my marble countertop! All of the work was done while we were on vacation - by a good friend of ours who also was at the house the day of the refinishing. When I got home from work I about went through the ceiling when I saw the white on the other surfaces! Not only that, when we removed the tape that held the paper on that was there, it pulled off the paint that had been done a week before. (Masking tape was used in areas, not painter's tape.) I e-mailed Ernest - I was too angry to call - and told him to contact my husband at work the next day - that he didn't want to talk to me!! He called him early the next morning and said he would come by after work and look at the situation. He had a solvent that was able to clean the spray from the floor and countertop, but I told him the walls needed to be repainted. I told him it would have to be done on a weekend - that we were not taking time off work to get it fixed. He opted to refund us the cost to have our friend do the repainting. Ernest was very nice and apologized for the problem. He did promptly fix it and pay for the repainting. I would recommend his services, however, if you are remodeling too, do that part first! Otherwise, be sure everything is securely covered before the spraying begins. In response to Ernest comment about the sheet over vanity, it was to be an additional layer of protection of what he was to use to cover the vanity. His covering did not cover the whole unit or seal it to prevent.overspray. If I didn't call call Ernest the day before we would have not scheduled, as we paid his deposit by paypal as to have recourse if he didn't shoe up, be he never added us to list and did not supply us with a complete list of instructions as to prep. Ernest doesn't like Paypal as it cost him a larger percentage than Visa MC. The tub and shower walls should have been done before the bthroom was redone. Still we were are happy the way the tub turned out. Plus if he didn't charge for estimates and came out and estimated\looked at the job we could have avoided the whole situation. Still we would recommend Ernest again and would use him again.

Response from Mr. Resurface LLC
I apologized to [member name removed] for not making it clearer that I did not want them to repaint the bathroom before the resurfacing was done as I did tell her that the floor and fixtures around the job should be installed to prevent damage to the job I was going to do, with that said. I did inform her Husband Dave and the Painter whom was present before I started the job that the masking tape may damage the paint around the job. They both said that was fine as the painter would touch it up afterwards. I used the blue safe release tape above the job and along the sides I used regular masking tape as I need the masking to stay put near the floor. Both the blue painter tape and regular masking tape pulled up the paint. [member name removed] was not present when I did the job and that warning from me about the paint must have not have been conveyed to her. In an attempt to help, the customer put up a bed sheet to cover the vanity, which in hind sight was a bad idea as it did not protect her vanity from dust as well as If I did my own preparation with the plastic I normally use. I took responsibility for agreeing to work with the preparation they attempted to help with, by paying for repainting the bathroom. The painter whom was very friendly and a nice guy charged $50 dollars which was more than reasonable to repaint the bathroom. I immediately responded to [member name removed] email and set up a time to take a look at the job and remedy her concerns. When I met and spoke with her in person, she was very pleasant and not angry as she appeared in her initial e-mail she sent about her concerns as she saw I was doing everything in my power to address her concerns. I have found being upset about things I have no control over or arguing never gets anything worth while accomplished, so I just did what I could to make her happy and that seemed to work. That type of work ethic helps me diffuse any tense situations that may arise. The few positives about this experience are that [member name removed] still gave me my first B rating ( which is not bad, but not great) which is my first rating ever that has not been an A and I now have included in my e-mailed appointment notice I send to every customer before the job is done on how to prepare the bathroom a written warning not to repaint the bathroom before the reglazing is done and to paint the bathroom after the job is complete. So future customers will be able to avoid the mis-communication that occurred between [member name removed] and myself.

The project went very well. Ernest was in touch prior to beginning the service and explained all the pertinent things that needed to be completed prior to his arrival. He showed up on time and the process took approximately 2 1/2 hours. He was very professional and a nice guy as well. Everything was done in a controlled and clean manner. 24 hours later I inspected the area prior to caulking and saw a couple of small blemishes I had a question on and Ernest came back promptly with no questions asked and redid those satisfactorily. His quick response to my concern was excellent and that is the true measure of a service provider. The tub looks great and I recommend Mr. Resurface to anyone looking to reglaze an old bathtub. Thanks for a great experience Ernest.

I contacted Mr. Resurface after reading favorable reviews here. Ernest returned my call immediately, went over the details of my particular job, and supplied an estimate. It seemed reasonable...several hundred dollars less than pulling out the existing one piece unit and installing a replacement, which would have been multi piece and seamed, several thousand dollars less than building a new shower and tiling. The existing unit was an ugly blue, and this process allowed us to change the color to white to better integrate with the bathroom upgrade we were doing, We made an appointment for about a week later. Ernest showed up right on time, and was done in about 4-5 hours. The results were outstanding, imo. A very glossy finish, somewhat textured, very clean looking. The job was cleaned up well, and instructions were carefully given as to care and cleaning. After installation of a new shower door it looks brand new. One thing to remember: the material that is sprayed on SMELLS. Ample warning is given verbally and in the pre job instructions that were emailed, but the smell was pretty noxious for 24 hours or so. Other than that, no problems and we plan to have Ernest do a similar shower in our playroom bath later this year. Cost was exactly as estimated, plus $45 for a non skid additive for the floor. Works great.

After calling him for information, Ernest called back within just a few hours, and asked all the questions that we had concerns about prior to us having to ask. His estimate was well within what we thought it would cost. He immediately followed up with an e-mail confirmation and receipt for deposit. The company did a great job, from our initial meeting to get an estimate -- which I found fair considering the amount of work that had to be done -- to the completion of the job. We found Ernest on Angieslist and he had great reports. He was easy to get ahold of and we spoke directly to him, and he performed the work. He showed up on time, needed no assistance, completed the work in about four hours and instructed us that we could use the tub the next day. He did not offer upfront that we put the non-slip surface down but we asked for it to be added. The rest of the tub is rather slick so would recommend you pay the extra $45 for the textured floor. The glaze seems strong so far but there is a spot where I sat down with jeans and must have hit a button the the surface and if chipped a tiny bit off. We didn't get to many comparable for price but did feel that $600 was a bit pricey compared to the cost of a new tub. In the end, it's gorgeous and we hope it will last for years!

Response from Mr. Resurface LLC
It was a pleasure doing work for the members. The Mrs. had a very pleasant work environment and was playing some very upbeat music while I was there. I send out a detailed appointment notice by e-mail to all my customers to help them know what to expect before I reglaze the tub and in that notice it give my customers the options to request a non-slip bottom or professional re-caulking services before the job is started. On my website at mrresurface.com under the bathtub and tile refinishing link, there is also a price guide that describes all charges for my services. My research has shown me that the cost for a new tub my be a couple hundred dollars less then the cost of properly reglazing a tub, but the cost to take out the old tub and install the new tub will cost well over $1500 to redo the plumbing, floor and walls around the tub, meaning the cost of materials for a new tub will not be your final cost. Not unless you are doing all the the labor yourself. I also am hearing for the first time through this mostly positive report that the tub was chipped and may be in need of a repair. I stand behind my work and If I do receive a call from the family I will promptly put them on my schedule for a repair. That is my policy. I'm the only Bathtub and Tile Reglazing Company in Connecticut that has received the super service reward because of my due diligence to do the best job possible and I have outstanding customer service and for that I have been able to win the respect and trust I have gotten from Angieslist's Members. So I do appreciate the very positive report from the family, but I wanted to clear up any potential misunderstandings as I take my business reputation that I have built up over 15 year very seriously.

Mr. Resurface was 100% polite and professional during the entire communication and execution process. He was a good listener and responded to our needs. We wanted a non-skid surface, but a very light application - - nothing too gritty. He completely understood and the tub is perfect. He did the work himself, did not subcontract to anyone else. It was the one part of our bathroom renovation process that went completely without a hitch! I would highly recommend his services.

Mr Resurface were very friendly and accomodating. I was forced to rechedule multiple times due to power outages after hurricane Irene, and they were very helpful. I would definitely use them again.
