Came out well. Looks fantastic. There was some running of the finish where there are some minor drip marks, that's why I gave it a "B". Very punctual. He actually did the caulking which I thought I would need to do afterwards. Sure beats ripping out the tub and tile. We will get many years out of this before we need to redo the whole bathroom.

I spent 4 days cleaning my house due to the dust (probably toxic) he created after resurfacing our counters. Said it would 'look' smooth but not feel smooth--doesn't even look smooth. When he came back because the quarter round turned yellow, I asked if he would also touch up the gray spots on our outlet strip, and at first he hesitated saying he did the strip 'as a favor' but he guessed 'he would do it as he was already there to do the outlet strip'. If he had told us it would create so much dust, we would have hung plastic to create a smaller space (we have an open floor plan) but he never told us this would be a problem. I mean--I had to clean out drawers, wipe down walls...it was terrible. I told him and all he offered was an apology. The counters do clean up easily and look ok--I can overlook that they do not look smooth as he said they would....

Response from Mr. Resurface LLC
I responded to this customers concerns within 12 hours of getting her phone call. I scheduled a time to take a look at her counter within a couple days. This customer was aware that there would be dust as I told them what I would have to do to repair there cracked and damaged cook top area. In fact, the customer had to come and turn off a smoke alarm that was sitting on a shelf near the back of the counter, because of the dust form sanding setting it off. This customer saw the job when I was done sanding and did not complain about dust when I was at the job. When I spoke with her on the phone to listen to her concerns, she told me that she was dealing with some personal concerns that made dealing with any dust a problem. All I could do is offer her an apology as she did not give me a chance to take a look at the job before she spent "Four days to clean up", and if she did and it was as messy as she claims, I could have either helped her clean up to her satisfaction or pay to have a cleaning service clean her kitchen. I'm not denying there was dust, but her way of dealing with it was unprofessional. I never denied her service or did I not promptly address her concerns. In regards the smoothness of the counter. I gave her the same finish she saw at my showroom, so there was no surprise. I never gave her an indication that the counter would be glass smooth. She even admits that the counter cleans up easily. So if it was not smooth or was rough, that would not be the case. I did countertops for friends of her's a couple months before her job that saw the showroom at the same time and they are very happy with my service. I did resurface her discolored outlet strip as a favor and it looked almost perfect, and even though it was done as a favor, she still wanted perfection, despite that it was restored from a very yellow and discolored state. I only have 3 of almost 60 reviews that are less than an A, and the ones that aren't A's are not complaining about hating the job or me not responding to their concerns, as I always try to rectify any concerns from my customers. This customer should not have waited to contact me to address their conerns then get upset with me that they spent supposedly "four days cleaning".

MrResurface reglazed our tub and surrounding tile area in one bathroom. We followed instructions for preparing the area and encountered no problem. The work was completed in about 5 hours. Some dust was generated and the work was noisy, but everything was vented through a window. We shut and in some cases taped doors to surrounding rooms, and that helped. This process creates a strong odor that might bother some people. We recommend being prepared not to use your bathroom for a few days (4-6) while it airs out. The finish on all surfaces is now superb and easy to clean. After we've had a chance to experience living with the result for a while, we will probably have the other bathtub and tile done.

Ernest told us he would arrive between 9:30 and 10:30 and he got here at 9:45. He completed the stripping of the old glaze and put the new white glaze on top of our formerly blue cast iron tub in 3-1/2 to 4 hours. We opted to have a non-skid finish put on the bottom of the tub so we mentioned that upon his arrival. He sent literature prior to his arrival that spells out exactly what to do to prepare for the process and that is what we did. The result looks like a brand new shiny white bathtub. Thanks Ernest!
Description of Work: We had a tub that had been reglazed at least 15 years ago and the finish was peeling off. The cost to replace the tub would have been too high so we went with the refinishing again. This meant that the old glaze had to be removed and the new glaze put on.

He did a good job but was not too explanatory of the process. He provided us with a full written explanation of the process in the beginning. However, since I did not read the information thoroughly, I was not able to get the non slip surface on the tub floor. Since he was the professional, I thought that he should have mentioned it to me. He was not very neat in that he left some debris on the floor which we had to clean up. The tub looks great and we are pleased with it.

Response from Mr. Resurface LLC
I believe this customer is more disappointed with the fact they did not read over the instructions I sent them on how to prepare for the job and the fact they did not read the memo in the instructions to let the technician know before the job is started as to whether they wanted to have a non-slip bottom installed in the tub. The full written explanation of the process also states that after 24 hours the customer will remove the masking paper that is used to protect the walls and floor around the tub. I offered to come back and a install non-slip bottom on top of the finish for a reasonable fee, but I never heard back from them until reading this review. I believe the fact that I send my customers written instructions on how to prepare for the job is a testament to my professionalism and I have received many compliments for doing so. This customer is trying to blame me for their failure to read over the instructions thoroughly and take a dig at my professionalism. What they had to clean up was very minimal. I don't like to sweep around the tub after removing my tarps so I don't stir up any dust into the newly reglazed finish. I appreciate this customer liking the job results, but I don't think they are being reasonable with their complaints about my professionalism and I was on time for their appointment so I have no idea why they rated that a C.

He did a phenomenal job and his work exceeded our expectations. If you have a bathtub that is a weird color (ours was green) or dated countertops,I highly recommend using this company to resurface them. It's cheaper and faster than replacing them, and the quality is excelled. I keep getting compliments on how nice our countertops look. No one seems to ask or care whether its real granite or not. It looks updated and that's all that matters to us! We couldn't be more pleased.

Ernest is a man who is honest, dependible and very likeable. He has a really nice, easy going personality and you just know he will do right by you. He took the time to educate me on his process and how it differs from other companies. He is very much into the science of his materials. Go see Ernest's showroom (open by appointment). It sells his resurfacing with a impressionable show-n-tell. Ernest prepped the job by tarping my house from foyer up to the 2nd floor bathroom. He made sure to ventilate the premises and cleaned up after his work was complete. Job start, end, and cost were all done as promised. While putting our toiletries back in the tub, we dinged the new shiny-white finish. Ernest was back next day for a quick repair and he's got a great warranty for future incidents.

Arrived on time, always courteous. Work was completed in a timely manner. I am disappointed that I have been constantly repairing nicks in the finish mostly along the edges where I agreed to a beveled edge instead of the straight one I had. However, Ernest has been very nice about supplying us with plenty of hardener which is needed to make the paint solution to repair the nicks. I know people who have used him for tub resurfacing and they've been very satisfied with his work. I'm still glad I used him because I wanted a specific color and he was able to get it for me.

Response from Mr. Resurface LLC
I have received calls to repair chips in every type of counter top, from laminate, corian, granite and man made products like quartz silestone. Since the name of my company is MrResurface, some have called thinking I could quickly repair any damaged counter. That is only true if its a counter top I have resurfaced as I will have the same color to do a touch up. The finish I apply to the laminate formica is not exempt from being damaged. Any counter top can be chipped except for a stainless steel counters such as is usually found in restaurants as those would just be dented if something heavy fell on it. The advantage of resurfacing your counter tops has over other processes is that it can be repaired inexpensively. Usually under $100 dollars a resurfaced counter top can be repaired and in this customers case for free as I gave her some of the catalyst for the special order color she wanted as I left the material with her so she could perform repairs herself if need be. If your granite counter is chipped you are looking at a very costly repair to replace a section of the granite. Because of that most people live with the damage or spend $1500 or more to repair it. If something hits the edge of the counter top it can an may chip as I have seen chips on the edges of granite counter tops were an under mount sink meets the counter because of the exposed edge of counter that can be hit by dishes, pots and pans. When I saw the customer's counter who wrote this review there were a couple of chips on the edge that took me less than five minutes to repair. As I stated above, the damage to any other type of counter top is not so easy to repair. I have had customers very happy to know that an accidental drop on their counter did not cost them a lot to repair. I have a showroom that has really impressed people who were able to see and feel how hard and professional the resurfaced counter top is. The showroom is located at 913 Meriden Rd, Waterbury, CT and open by appointment.

Ernest arrived 2 hours late because he failed to confirm my appointment time at least 1 day before. I have accepted the finished look of my countertops. It is better than the white, scratched, and seamed laminate countertop that was originally installed in 1989. However, but it is not a "Corian" looking finish. It is a sprayed finish and in hindsight, for me, it was not worth the inconvenience and most importantly, the awful smell that other customers have previously mentioned with this process. If anyone has sinus problems or is hypersensitive to smells, please do not attempt this process when you have to live in the house. The fumes and odor are so bad you can taste it. Do not go near the work area without a mask or respirator. The 3 coats of paint and the epoxy (shiny sealant) have a smell that burns the sinuses and caused me a sore throat for days afterward. The toxic smell stays in the house for 4-5 days afterwards. You cannot use your kitchen for at least 3-5 days until it fully cures and dries. You cannot tolerate this smell in weather when the windows and doors must be shut. Ernest uses a large fan while he is there but takes it with him when he leaves. However, again in hindsight, I would have asked him to leave it (or more than 1 fan) at least overnight or for a couple of days to try to dissipate the fumes quicker (if that is even possible). When I told Ernest of my being sick afterwards, he denies that anyone has experienced this reaction to his process. I find this hard to believe--it is an uncomfortable, if not unhealthy process for humans (and pets--which I do not have). Ernest does do a good job at taping the area off, but it is a messy job because sanding and spraying is involved. The spray hangs in the air and dirt and dust travels throughout the house. I had asked Ernest to tape off the living room from the kitchen but he refused as it would interfere with the fan. I should have insisted. I thought the price was high because there is little competition for this work. It is less expensive than replacing the countertops and backsplash but I'm now doubting it is less of a mess to refinish vs replace, and you can immediately use your kitchen when the work is done. P.S. There is extra costs involved for a plumber to remove sink, move gas stove and possibly the refrigerator (water line) that is not included in this work.

Response from Mr. Resurface LLC
I don't believe this client is giving a fair review of what happened. I do accept responsibility for not sending her an e-mail appointment notice of my arrival time, so she was thinking I would arrive right at 9am when I allow an hour and half time frame to arrive at all my jobs as I'm heading to new places for each job. Before this client hired me to resurface her countertop, she and her friend from East Haddam were very excited with the finished samples I showed them for the work I was going to do for this client in Southington. When the job was complete, this client expressed to me how nice the finished job looked and was happy with the color she chose. The A rating she gave me for the job quality is a testament to that. I have helped past clients move out there fridge and stove in the past, but I declined to do so after this client told me that her floor was damaged when the fridge and stove were installed, so I told her she would need to have a plumber disconnect the gas from the stove and move out her fridge as I did not want to be held responsible for more damage to her floor. When the job was complete this client did not comment about the odor being so bad she felt she would need to leave or that her sinuses were affected or that she could taste the odor, nor did she comment about dust in the rest of her house before I left. I sealed an opening above her sink to the living room. This client's kitchen was not as open as most kitchen countertop resurfacing jobsI do. Her only opening was near the front door where I placed my ventilation blower which pulls air at over 3500 cubic feet per minute. I only heard of her dissatisfaction two weeks later after I sent her an e-mail kindly asking for her to submit a review on angieslist for the counter top resurfacing work I did for her. I was shocked to hear her response as before I was paid and when I left she was in good spirits and happy with the job. I believe the problem is that she got sick later in the week and attributed it to the odor of the job. I did the job on Monday October 14th, here is a quote from the email response this client sent me in quotes "I haven't been online because I have been sick. I believe I had a bad reaction to the chemical smell. I developed a nose bleed on Thursday and very bad sore throat on Friday. My sinuses are raw, I have post nasal drip and a discomfort in my upper chest the first few days from shallow breathing. I'm getting better but very slowly. " I told this client that I was very sorry she was not feeling well and hoped she felt better soon. I have over 42 reports on Angieslist and no one has reported getting sick from the odor. All my reviews have been A's except for two B's including this review. I believe it was just bad timing. I have done jobs in homes with pets even birds which are very sensitive to chemicals and they have not been harmed from my resurfacing process. I have been resurfacing for over 17 years and I have never got a complaint from the job odor making the client sick as this client said "she believed happened" from the email. The countertop is cured in 24 hours. The clear coat is not an epoxy but rather a quick curing acrylic urethane. I did tell this client not to walk thru the job area when I was doing the applications. I alerted her before I began, she did not listen. I did alert her to the fact the the odor is strong. The odor is strongest during the application. The majority of the odor is dissipated in two days. The odor is no stronger than a urethane wood floor that has been sealed. This client avoided a bigger mess by not remodeling the kitchen. She would have been without her kitchen for at least two weeks and ask anyone that has remodeled their kitchen and they will tell you it does not happen without a mess, (such as dust and unforeseen issues and problems). She was only without her counter top for two days. I felt like I bent over backwards and forwards for this client and it was not enough. She saved a lot of money as opposed replacing her counter top and her high back splash was done for $1500 dollars. I have many more positive reviews and testimonials for my counter top resurfacing to prove that this client is over exaggerating the smell of the job. If she did not get sick later in the week I believe her review would not have been the same, but indicative of my past reviews that comment about the odor. My other reviews have commented about the smell as it being something to expect, but not to the degree this client has taken it.

Earnest arrived promptly at the time arranged. At my request to protect the newly refinished hallway & stairway , he laid a tarp & plastic covering from my doorway to the upstairs bathroom. I had prepped the bathroom by removing everything that was not attached. Earnest protected the entire area surrounding the tub with a paper covering and plastic drape. The job was completed this morning in less than 3 hrs. There is an odor. I do not have a window in this bathroom so I have the windows open in the surrounding rooms with the vents & fans going. The area was pretty clean when Earnest was finished and I only had to do a quick vacuum & light dusting of the bathroom & hallway from a little paint dust. Earnest is punctual, polite and professional. I would use him again and would recommend him to my friends.

I am extremely pleased with the outcome and the work done. Ernest was very helpful with any questions I had in regards to prep work, and promptly returned E-mails even during the weekend. He showed up on time and is very friendly and pleasant to deal with. He is very professional in what he does, and his work is outstanding. We have a couple of more projects coming up, and will definitely use him again. Overall a great experience, and highly recommended. I was blown away by the result.
