I am a certified home inspector certified by NACHI, AHIT. We provide radon testing, termite inspections, water testing, moisture testing, and I am certified for mold testing and evaluations.
My husband was with him for the time of the inspection. When I showed up to the house (he was sitting at the homeowners table) and finished in two hours or under. He said everything was fine. I got a feeling he wasn't quite thorough having provided nothing much other than tips for taking down ceiling fans due to lower ceilings, trimming back hedges, and switching outlets. Didn't sound like much considering the house was built in 1967. There was clearly damage to some flooring in an upstairs bedroom and he said he didn't know what that was from. He forgot to turn the heat off in the house after checking it. Luckily we were waiting for the septic guy and noticed after he'd left that it was on, as it was a hot day outside. Skip to we are all moved in and have a basement company come out to check the basement since it's smelly and damp down there. We were also wanting to refinish it. Now I have had two basement companies come in to immediately find that there was A LOT of water in the basement at one point. There is drainage issues with water settling around the foundation leading to big water markings on the interior of the basement walls (efflorescence). Oh and visible mold!!!! Was there water present at the time of the inspection? No. However if it's clear as day to some basement guys that once spring comes around we could end up with a big problem why can't this guy notice such an obvious problem!?! We missed our opportunity to negotiate this with the previous homeowner, and this will cost us a lot of money and work to fix the issue. Forget finishing the basement!!! Also not as big of a deal but he also missed the fact that our dryer in the laundry room vents into the garage. I called to mention these issues to him and he got a bit defensive saying his dryer also vents to his garage and he has no issues. I then asked "is this up to code?" and he told me "he doesn't do codes." Hmm that sure is a red flag. So he told me to put panty hose over it. Ridiculous! The previous homeowner never disclosed there was a flood in the basement, it's the home inspectors job to search high and low for that stuff for you. I am angry I didn't see the water damage myself because it's that obvious. I have no idea how a "professional" could ever miss something like this. He called and offered to have someone come remove the mold for us. Not good enough I want my $600 back and that's not even good enough. It makes me sick to think we lost our opportunity to get some money off the price of the house, considering a basement person quoted me $10k to waterproof the basement. You've been warned...

I was looking for home inspection services and came across this company thru google search. After talking to Tony Melandro, he stated that he was an expert and has been doing this work for many years. He also stated that he "teaches" the other beginners in home inspection. I hired him after that. On the day of the inspection he came to see the house. I was surprised to see that he came wearing clothes that would not become dirty - he was wearing a "silk" shirt and was wearking clothes and shoes that looked expensive. He had a gold chain. He came in a Lexus RX350. He was busy trying to impress the agent instead of trying to focus on doing the job. He brought a camera and was casually taking pictures of the house. He did not even bend once to see anything. He did not have a ladder. He talks very smoothly. He wanted cash for the services. He did not even have a ladder for the inspection service. He did not even check water pressure anywhere. The water pressure was awful in the bathrooms. He spent all the time trying to impress the real estate agent to get more business. His report was more directed towards the agent - though I had directly hired him. He inspected everything very casually - he did find one beam cracked on the roof. I do not think he did a good job,

Response from Melandro Home Inspections
You complain about my inspection but you not speak about my report that was sent to you very detailed and did I miss anything, you are more interested in what I was wearing and I have a nice car, so I guess you should have hired a poor inspector in dirty cloths that would make you happy. I am going to post the inspection I preformed for you on the internet so everyone can see my inspection report I sent you and lets see what everyone thinks about my inspection
