Jonathan Painting Service

I strongly recommend NOT hiring Jonathan painting. He failed to complete the work on our exterior trim and the work that was done is sloppy. They failed to prep the wood properly, including sanding, priming, caulking, and failed to even paint portions of the trim in several areas. He disappeared after I communicated my concerns (even left a couple of ladders) and won’t respond to calls or messages. I’m now forced to either finish/fix it myself or hire another painter. Terrible experience.

I want to warn you about Jonathan Painting, a local painter/contractor who fails to complete jobs, disappears out of the country during the middle of work leaving you to manage the project, and takes your money and runs. We highly recommend against using him for any work around your house, no matter the project and how great his estimate may seem. After 3 years of working with Jonathan, he took our money and did not complete the job. He failed to return calls, texts, and emails over the last 5 months AND completely ignored the state when we tried to use them to support our efforts for completion. We have worked with numerous contracts in Darien and in our previous homes and have not worked with someone who so poorly manages projects that you must direct his crews and does not care for long term clients who had already discussed larger projects in the home. Jonathan asked for our payment after completing 90% of the work so he could pay his crew. Since we had worked with him in the past, had discussed additional work, and he had been responsive to date, we made the mistake of paying him out of trust and care for his crew that needed the money during the spring. We had hoped our trust and care for Jonathan and his crew (meals, water, help cleaning up during rain) would result in mutual support and it did not. He failed to finish staining our deck (and any minor touch up used the incorrect stain), did not install a door correctly, and left the property filthy. We want to prevent others from the frustration we went through with Jonathan. It is not worth working with someone you can't trust to complete a job and who leaves you with a partially completed project despite you providing support as requested. And if you do use Jonathan, be prepared to have to check every piece of work and do his work for him
