I couldn't be happier with the way the work turned out! Leo's guys were hardworking, skilled and very detail-oriented. Leo's quote was significantly less than others that I had received and he worked with me and the building inspector as the project progressed to make sure that everything was done correctly. Overall, I was very pleased with the whole process and will definitely look to work with Excalibur Construction again!

From the get-go, I was impressed with Leo's professionalism and responsiveness. Communication was excellent and I got a thorough written estimate quickly. The crew always showed up promptly as expected and did a very thorough job of prepping the house for painting. I got compliments from the neighbors about how polite and professional the crew was. They did an excellent job. I felt a tremendous amount of trust in the professionalism and work ethic of this team. I would add that I was also impressed with their attention to detail and their concern for safety. It was also nice to see how well they all worked together; it really seemed like a well-functioning team and I think that really makes a difference. I would strongly recommend them to others and would use them again (though I hope to not have to get my house repainted for a very long time). I may have been able to get the job done more cheaply (and I certainly also got more expensive bids), but I think the price was more than fair considering the quality of the work and the overall experience.

From our first contact, Leo was super responsive. We had just purchased a 100+ year old house and its exterior had not been touched in 20 years...it needed a lot of work! Leo promptly quoted the job and honored the original quote even when they ran into some extra carpentry work. His crew was thoroughly professional at all times and did quality work. They were creative in solving some carpentry challenges and quick to fix anything that did not meet our expectations. We were so pleased with the work and the value of Excalibur's services that we added two additional projects. These also were completed on time and budget. I am sure we will use Leo and Excalibur again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Excalibur did a very good job preparing and painting the exterior of our house, including trim and window. In addition, they ended up doing more carpentry work than what was expected and the carpenters did a great job. They started and completed within the timeframe agreed upon. The owner was extremely responsive to all my questions throughout the project. The crew was on time, very hardworking and respectful. The estimate provided by the owner was significantly lower than three other bids, and included a 3 year guarantee. In addition, we were not charged an additional cost for the unplanned carpentry work. I would recommend Excalibur to anyone looking for a quality job from a professional group of painters.

Leo is a great person and came by our house on a sunday to look over the job. He got the estimate to us rather quickly. We had to take a vacation and didn't want the work done while we were away so we had to wait a little while to get started, but that was really our fault. The work crew was professional and respectful of our property. They worked very long days to get the job done. There were two things that I did not think were done correctly after the crew felt they were done. I took pictures and sent them to Leo and they came right back out to fix those items. I think the price was reasonable (and lower than other estimates I had received). I also felt that Leo's ideas about how to repair parts of the house were creative and great long term solutions: for our pool house he cut out the rotted wood along the bottom and replaced the very bottom with PVC siding because the bottom of the structure would likely rot again in the future. Will definitely call Leo again in the future.

We needed a new roof and received several quotes in the process. Leo's pricing was somewhere in the middle to high end. We chose him over the other contractors for two main reasons: He came with a strong recommendation from a friend, and he was extremely professional and punctual throughout the process. We were not the easiest client to deal with either. We dragged our feet for several months and made lots of changes to what we wanted before making a final decision. Leo was patient, professional, and consultative throughout. Once the project started, Leo showed up on time every morning, and finished the job ahead of schedule (which is something I've never seen happen with a contractor ever). His crew was equally professional as he was, and the new roof looks great. We are very happy with the work Leo performed and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a new roof.

Leo, the owner, answered our initial inquiry on a Sunday morning, came out, did business and started the same day. After a rain day, drying day, crew returned and completed the job. Very few snags, only worth mentioning was mis-understanding as to who was supplying materials, the stains. One minor reminder is a stain left on a rear stair where a worker left a leaking bottle of baby oil, (sun protection?) Nobody's perfect and I did not mention it to Leo, so he'll read about it here. Definitely will use Excalibur in the future and have already recommended them to some of my own customers.

We are very happy with the outcome of the work performed by Leo Penuela and his crew. Our large shingle-style house was completely prepped, primed and painted - including replacing rotted trim boards, missing shingles and cracked window panes, and removing and painting storms and screens on over 50 windows. This job was a *lot* of work and the crew was very hardworking, thorough and responsive to any requests. Leo was always available when questions came up, and went above and beyond to make sure that we were completely satisfied with the results. We would definitely use Excalibur again and recommend the company highly.

We recently had a new roof installed. We were very impressed with the owner Leo, and how he approached the project. He suggested improvements to prevent future ice dams and paid attention to every detail. He also followed up to make sure the work was properly done. The work was excellent, the price was very competitive, his staff was courteous and hard working. When the project was complete, they all raked up the debris, swept the driveway and make sure the condition of our lawn and property was as it was before they started. Leo called us about a week or so later to make sure we were satisfied and to make sure we had no concerns. We were completely satisfied with their work and would use them in the future. I contacted several roofers for a strip and replace roof job on an active leak in a multifamily property. Leo was prompt in response, able to start work quickly, and provided a quote that was several thousands of dollars more affordable than competing providers. More importantly, Leo was professional, prided himself on past service awards, and worked around my schedule to meet me on site and explain in detail exactly what work needed to be done, how quickly it could be done, and how much it would cost. When residents at the property raised concerns on scheduling, Leo was very accommodating in working around their needs, while still ensuring the work was completed on time. I would absolutely recommend working with Leo and his team at Excalibur.

Leo and Excalibur construction was everything we could've asked for. Since my husband and I just purchased our house and knew we needed to do some serious work on the exterior, our budget was pretty tight. Leo came to our house to give us an estimate for our roof and the other exterior jobs. He even went on our roof and talked with us for about half an hour about what he saw and different options that we had. His estimate was drastically less than every other company we contacted. It took Leo and his team less than a week to complete the entire project. They even agreed to complete the work while my husband and I were away on vacation. Leo kept me updated with pictures and emails throughout the entire process. The roof, windows, siding, and gutters all look amazing... Everyone who has seen the before and after thinks we got even more work done than we did! I will absolutely be using Excalibur construction in the future for other projects around my house.

Leo had previously fixed our upstairs bathroom and had done such a terrific job that we asked him to do the first floor bathroom. They came and totally demolished the old bathroom which included taking out an old porcelain tub and tile that was 3/4 up all of the walls and attached with concrete. They rewired a new ceiling light and exhaust fan, along with updating all of the rest of the electrical. We decided to put just a shower in so Leo had to plumb the bathroom for that and the new sink and toilet. A new window was installed, too. Then they put in a ceramic tile floor and tiled the walls and shower. When I wasn't sure which tile to go with Leo patiently went over my options and made wonderful suggestions that in incorporated. We were so happy that Leo and his men were able to complete every aspect of the job: plumbing, electrical, tiling, and painting. They arrived on time and worked long hours. They were very courteous and neat. We were quoted a fair price and there were no hidden surprises. We are absolutely thrilled with the bathroom and would definitely use Leo again!

Very good work. Professional. Easy to work with. Very likeable--both Leo and his crew. Hard workers. The cleanup could have been better, but otherwise I was very, very pleased.

Honestly, the experience was excellent and I will be using Leo, and Excalibur in the future and have already recommended them to friends who need work done. Not sure what else there is to say. Job came out great and Leo made sure I was satisfied at every turn or they would re-accomplish. Very customer satisfaction oriented. Quality exceeded the price paid.

It wen't very well and the job was completed in the three weeks that he siad it would take. I enjoyed working with Leonardo because he does all of the work himself sometimes with the aid of a helper but all the plumbing and electrical, construction and tiling was done by Leo and his helpers.The work was excellent and there was attention to detail. When I first set out to find estimates, I got four of them and Leo beat them all by a wide margin. Even after all of our additional expenses our total cost was below the earlier estimates. (probably due to the fact that Leo doesn't need to contract work out to others and pass the expense along to you). While there are many folks who do it this way, I went with Leo on the basis of previous reviews on this site. It was a leap of faith because one never knows, but my family is pleased with the results. There was a considerable amount of tiling done and I was very impressed with his tiling skills. Even in an older home with uneven floors and ceilings, Leo made it look great. The new plumbing included a new "wet wall" in the shower/tub, but we kept the existing drain line. Behind the vanity he installed new plumbing as well as the water pipes that led to the toilet, but not the toilet drain. We did have some additional work done that, of course, was added to the price of the job: we decided to tile the entire area in the tub/shower including the ceiling, we also had some insulation added. We did not have an exaust fan in the bathroom so Leo cut a hole for one and ran the exaust pipe out of the roof of the house through the attic. (Our bathroom is on the second floor). We chose not to live in the house while construction was going on. My folks are local and we have two young children. Im glad we did this. Not that it was a messy worksite, but with any construction in the home, dust gets everywhere. But Leo put down drop cloths throughout the house and did his best to keep things clean and organized. I had previously put up plastic on the doorways. Also, full disclosure: we only have 1.5 bathrooms in our house so with the main bathroom under construction we had little choice but to vacate. I was able to stop by daily and check the progress. Leo always took the time to explain and address questions I had. Leo even worked on the weekends to make sure he met his deadline which my family appreciated. So again begin to save money because our kitchen is next. But when the time comes, Leo will be my first call. I recommend him not just because we have the same name, but because he did what he said he was going to do.

Long story. I initially contacted Leo to do an estimate for a complicated home improvement project that was overambitious given my time frame. He was very busy at the time and I adjusted my strategy over a few days, and called Leo back to do a small part of the whole job. He came back to me in a couple of days with an estimate that got right at what I needed, although the price was higher than I wanted. The plaster job was perfect, and Leo added topcoat that we provided even though the contract only stipulated primer. There was some plaster dust around the area that was hard to thoroughly clean up, but they did the best they could. If we were to do it again I would have made sure the area was more thoroughly covered. The back stairs are excellent, very sturdy, almost like getting a whole new back stairs. Many new footings were added, which produced a lot of broken tar and earth, but the crew cleared the site upon completion and it was quite clean and neat. I had also bought some cedar shingles because some had rotted away alongside the stairs, and the team replaced them even though I was going to do it myself.

Leo promptly came to our home and gave us an estimate. We set up a date for him to start and he arrived when he said he would. He was courteous, honest, and hard working. Other companies told me I couldn't replace the valve in the shower, but Leo said he could and he did. He did a fabulous job and the final bill was exactly what he said in the estimate. We will be calling Leo again to do another bathroom and a deck addition. He is fair and reliable!

When I called I got a response that the initial date was tentative. Did not get responses to my messages at angieslist site. No further communication from Excalibur.

We shopped around and he was inexpensive, very thorough, quick, and everything you’d want from a roofer.

Leo and his crew have done several roof repairs for me over the last few years and I was very pleased with this work he did. This summer I needed the exterior of my house painted and got a quote from him. His price was competitive, although it was still a lot of money to get the job done. I was hoping he would come down a little on price but he was firm. I was 3,000 miles away while the work was being done, which can be a little unsettling when you are spending so much money. I trusted Leo to do what he said he would do, do it on time and clean up when he was done. He ended up helping me select colors from a distance and he did some additional work in terms of more colors for the trim at no extra charge. We actually drove around and looked at some houses he had done before I left town so that I could see other paint jobs he completed. Leo and his crew did some carpentry work on the house including putting up new cedar shakes and making repairs to stairs and the porch. He adhered to all the local laws regarding sanding down areas that had lead paint and also found someone to do the brick repointing and managed that aspect of the job. The neighbors reported that he was very respectful and took good care as he did the work. One neighbor ended up hiring him to do her roof after my project was finished. I will definitely use Leo again for other jobs and highly recommend him.

We are very pleased with the work Excalibur performed on our house and garage. They worked very hard, and were easy to get in touch with when we had questions.
