The move began very positively with three movers coming to move us. We were given an estimate from Caroline of approx. $1,400 for moving a 1,500 sq ft home, including attic and garage. I was sure to include this information in with the estimate. The move was estimated to take 9 hours with travel to and from the moving company. During this conversation, I informed Caroline that our closing would take place and their would be about a 2 hr. lag for the moving team and said they could possibly take lunch during this time. We were selling and buying and both arrangements happened on this day due to attorneys and the seller being able to meet on January 7th. Caroline mentioned it would be ok, however we would still be expected to pay for the down time since the men were already out for the day. We obliged to this agreement, however when I mentioned this to Ray during our walk through, he said Caroline never mentioned this to him and that he wasn't sure if his men would have funds for lunch. It was quite cold this day, however my husband and I assisted with packing and loaded several items into our truck and car to speed up the process. When Ray saw the home and the amount of furniture, he wasn't sure that everything would fit in the truck. I explained that I talked to Caroline and explained the size of the home, that each room was full of furniture and that we had a garage and attic. I also informed Ray of the down time with our closing. Ray and his team of two began to load the truck and box some items. Within 3 hrs. and still loading, Ray and one of his workers Charles became agitated that the truck was becoming too full and they weren't sure if our items would fit on the truck. Inappropriate language was used in our home due to their frustration. Their lack of patience was evident as they picked up our final items and hastily loaded them on the truck. I immediately called Caroline to inform her of her workers behaviors and she apologized and called them on a cell phone to make them aware of our dissatisfaction with the inappropriate language, and lack of professionalism. A young man named Chris was part of the three man moving team, and was extremely patient and worked diligently throughout the entire day, helping my family remain calm and trying to be optimistic. By the fourth hour of loading, both my husband's and my automobiles were tightly packed, and we informed Ray to ask for another truck, or to somehow try to figure out how to get our last few items on the truck. Ray didn't seem to think the items would fit, then our realtor stepped in and told him to figure out how to get the items on the truck because our sellers were ready to be in their new home, which we needed to leave very quickly. Ray and Charles did not appear happy to hear this; both walked off and began grabbing the last items and packed them begrudgingly onto the truck. Ray then entered our home (smoking a cigarette) and talking on the phone, we believe to Caroline. After the closing of which it took near 2 1/2 hours (including travel), the men were waiting in the driveway to complete the move. Their was a new man on the moving team when we arrived and Charles had been replaced due to the previous incident. It took nearly three hours to unload the truck in which myself and my husband assisted to speed up the process. In the end, the total move was approx. 12 hours long and over $700 more than we anticipated. Some of this was for the extra boxes, tape and bubble wrap used by the workers, which was entirely too expensive as well as wasteful with products. The most important thing was our items arrived intact and more important items unbroken. The company sent a survey 2 1/2 months after and we recently filled it out very thoroughly. A sales manager named Rich called us to discuss the survey. I called him back and he said he wanted to make sure we did not have a bad experience. He apologized for the situation and asked how he could make the situation better. I told him it was too late for that because we already had a negative experience. I also mentioned that a way to resolve some of this would be to give a refund for some of the time we took carrying items out to load and unload the truck, to speed up the process and assist the movers. Rich made it clear that he could not do that and if this was the only way he could assist, then he could not help us. I was shocked. What was the point in calling then, if not to offer some form of compensation and to give a formal apology from the company. Rich mentioned he could not make this decision independently and would have his boss, the owner call us. To date that has not happened. We would not consider using Augliera's again in the future, or recommend them to friends due to our recent experience. Incidentally when having a contractor come to our home, they asked us about our moving experience and who we used. Their family happened to use Augliera's several years before and reiterated our same sentiments. They said the movers were rude, unprofessional and a few of their items were broken, as well as they did not receive much compensation for broken goods.
Description of Work: The provider assisted with boxing some items, loading most items onto moving truck, unloading items off truck and put together beds before leaving.
