I used The Singing Carpenter for my sister's house. The experience did not go very well. I avoided meeting him because although he was a nice guy, I will not use him again. He gave an estimate, and the estimate kept increasing. He ordered cabinets and he subcontracted the flooring in the kitchen. The flooring was very poorly done. I had to have them come back twice to fix it. I didn't like the materials they used. It was difficult because I live in Manhattan, and this was being done at my sister's rental apartment in Connecticut. So I had to do everything over the phone, but I had to go there occasionally to check on the work. He took an awfully long time to complete the job. I had to pester him to finish. When he finished he left woodshavings in drawers, he left garbage out - he didn't take away the garbage he used. He used the wrong caulking on the countertops - he used white caulking on a black countertop, it looked like hell. He was sloppy. When I pointed out mistakes, he corrected them.
Description of Work: The Singing Carpenter was contracted to do carpentry and cabinets, and to lay a floor.

replacement windows, woodworking, contractors

These windows were originally installed by a builder as part of a major expansion and redesign of our kitchen done almost 10 years ago. The Singing Carpenter Company took the time and effort to use my original purchase receipts for these windows to determine that they were still covered by warranty, and to contact the manufacturer repeatedly until they agreed that the windows were covered, and replaced them free of charge to me. I thought that the charges for their time in doing this and the installation were more than fair.
Description of Work: Replaced two kitchen windows (casement type), wood, w/ inserts that had partially rotted out.
