We are glad to hear that the service provided to you was quick and easy. As for expensive, there are many factors that go into treating a wasp nest within the wall void of a home. The national average cost of wasp extermination is typically around $375, but may be more or less depending on several factors including the difficulty of accessing the nest, if a ladder is needed, and the danger it poses to the technician. Your cost of $245 (which was discounted from $295) falls on the lower end of costs for this type of treatment. We are glad we were able to provide a satisfactory treatment and wish you all the best!

I recently attempted to remove several wasp/yellow jacket nests that appeared in our gutters and shutters with little success. I called Richland on Sunday (first off, it's awesome that they're even open on a Sunday) and they were here the next day on time. They gave me a window from 3 to 7PM and they arrived shortly after three. The technician was very polite, quickly took care of the nests, and even walked the parameter of the house to make sure he didn't miss anything. Communication, pricing, timing, etc. was all spot on with my expectations. I am very pleased with their work and would absolutely use them in the future.

They did come out for a consultation. They were responsive with setting up the appointment and punctual. The gentleman who came out for the consultation was very knowledgeable. He spent between forty-five minutes and an hour on the consultation. He suggested us ideas of things that we could do on our own which we did. They later called to tell us what their estimate would be and I asked them to send it to me in writing which they did within a few days. I ended up not doing anything at this time and will wait until the Fall before moving forward.

I bought a Big Deal through Angie's List, then the company asked for my home phone number so they could contact me. I didn't hear from them for two weeks, so I called Angie's List back to get their phone number. I called the company, and they were apologetic saying they didn't know what happened. They set up an appointment and said to call at the beginning of the week to get a time frame of when they would arrive. I called the day before the appointment, and the lady who answered the phone was very haughty and said I needed to wait until the day of the service to call. She said that residential customers get serviced after the schools they service. She had poor customer service and was very unprofessional. Michael was the man who came out to do the inspection. He was very professional, and did a fine job with the inspection itself. He pointed out a lot of things during the inspection.

The client asked in advance for an exact time for service.I explained we ask customers to call in the morning at about 8:30 am to get their two hour window for the day. I block out times a client is not available due to work or other issues. The schedule is done very early in the morning. Changes and additions due to customer schedules and custodians who call from the various school system we service start rolling in around 6:30 am. By 8:30 we have an organized schedule made to accommodate all. I explained this to the client. The client then stated - so your saying your schools are more important then you public clients. I said - I never said that. Everyone is important and we have been scheduling this way for years to avoid disappointments and to keep all appointments organized. The client hung up on me. The client was recalled and given an advance appointment time in an effort to please her. I am sorry my efforts still did not please her. The appointment was kept as promised. I am very happy she was pleased with Michael.

It went very well. I contacted three providers and one of the quotes was lower than the quote from Richland. I wanted to work with them because they had taken care of the nest last year and did a great job. They worked with me on the price and were able to come out on less than a week's notice. Matt arrived early in the day and did a thorough job. I showed him the small exterior nests I knew about, and he cleaned up those plus others I did not see. He sprayed a barrier on all likely points of entry and I'm confident my problems with yellow jackets are over. Great job, great price, highly recommend.

The two inspectors arrived on time. They were very knowledgeable and professional. A complete inspection of our house was performed and several recommendations made. They provided a rodent treatment program that seemed quite reasonable in terms of cost. We haven't taken advantage of the full program yet but plan to do so once some home improvement jobs are completed.

Paid for a termite treatment which included 1 follow up treatment and "periodically" monitoring. I had to call several times for the follow up treatment that was paid for in full. Also, the garage was not treated on the second application. When I called to ask Richland Pest to come back, the office told me the garage was treated in error on the first treatment, so they were not willing to come back and do a second application. This garage was where I had the problem and why I wanted treated in the first place. After multiple calls, asking to speak with someone about my issue, I spoke with Sandra who proceed to SCREAM at me, and tell me I was looking for free services, she told me she had been in the business for 20 years and knew I was out to get something for free and if we went to court they would win because they had a "service agreement" and I only had receipt of the agreement and that did not specifically state the garage was included, however it does read "perimeter around entire house". I tried to explain the garage was where the termites were in the first place and they just refused to do a follow treatment, which was contracted. Lesson learned... don't paid for service in advance and don't speak with Sandra in the Hartford location.

The facts as stated are incorrect. The only screaming done was by [Removed Member Name] at me, Sarah and Christine in our office. As a matter of fact, [Removed Member Name] was so difficult to talk with I requested Mr. [Removed Member Name] contact us. He never did. We have been in business 37 years not 20 years as [Removed Member Name] said I stated. I know how long we have been in business. We did not contract with [Removed Member Name]. We contracted with Mrs. [Removed Member Name] the former homeowner. The home had been inspected by an independent home inspection company while it was up for sale. The home consisted of a house with an attached garage. Termites were found at the basement window of this home. A second DETACHED garage is in the side rear of the property. The home owner (Mrs. [Removed Member Name])only wanted and paid for the house with an attached garage to be treated for termites as there were no termites found by the inspection company in or at the second detached rear garage. The contract was signed by Richland and Mrs. [Removed Member Name] on 1/18/13. The first of 6 service stops was performed the same day. The contract called for a follow up appointment in March to install the termite monitors into the ground. A letter was sent to Mrs. [Removed Member Name] explaining due to the amount of snow and the hard ground the installation would be pushed back to later in the spring. It was completed on May 1, 2013. [Removed Member Name] called in mid April stating she was the new homeowner and complained we had not come back for the follow up. I explained why and told her a letter had gone out to Mrs. [Removed Member Name]. [Removed Member Name] called to complain after the service was performed on 5/1 that we did not treat the detached garage. I explained Richland had treated the attached garage and the detached garage was not part of the contract. She insisted it was. Although she should have received a copy at closing I sent [Removed Member Name] a copy of the contract. She responded by phone stating she wanted the second garage treated. The home inspection company had found no termites in that building. [Removed Member Name] was insistent she wanted it treated. I quoted her $190.00 for the treatment. She refused to pay for the extra service and wanted it included. I told her I could not do that. I suggested she contact her real estate agent. We performed our service stops without prompting in early August, late September and early December. I do not know why [Removed Member Name] stated her contract ended in November. The contract should have ended in January however due to another harsh snowy winter we extended it. We could not attempt to check termite bait stations in the ground under the snow this past winter. By extending the time period the termite baiting system is in the ground the customer has added protection for a longer period of time without additional cost. We arrived on April 1, before the final snow storm of the season hit our area to perform our final inspection and to remove all product and equipment as is done upon contract completion. We found everything had been removed by the [Removed Member Name]'s. Our equipment was gone. It is a mystery why they would disrupt the baiting system especially since [Removed Member Name] appeared concerned about termites. This was the second time our equipment had been tampered with. During our September stop we found three of our baiting stations had been removed from the ground. We left paperwork notifying them of this. Just as the hammer belongs to the carpenter, our tools of our trade which are used in pest control belong to Richland Pest and Bee Control. An unjust and unfair complaint has been given. Our equipment is missing. Employees’ and I have been stressed by [Removed Member Name] and her unpleasant phone calls. Richland Pest and Bee Control performed all pest control services as contracted. The man who performed the work this past spring was very knowledgeable, considerate, and thorough. Our first experience was with the owner, who diagnosed a carpenter ant nest in our home. Not only did he implement a successful long-term regiment, but assured us that the nest had not caused structural damage to the house. We have used this service for years, in two different homes. Sandy knows what type of pests are common in different towns because of contracts with other customers. I have never considered moving from this service.

Thank you for your kind review. It is very important to all of us at Richland Pest and Bee Control to satisfy our clients needs. I think in this fast, fast world we all live in today - it is important to extend ourselves to make sure the work is done correctly and well. It takes a little more time to do the job right. When you rush and try to get it done fast - the quality can suffer.. We have all had bad experiences in wasting our money on poor quality services and goods. We are trying to be better than that. I contacted the exterminator and spoke to an individual on the phone who professionally explained the following: - How the nest was formed - Approximate size of the nest - Wasp activity outside of the nest (swarming at the opening in the house siding where wasps were entering) - Cost structure based on the height of the nest (the higher the nest = higher cost, due to increased risk to the exterminator) - Applicable internet discounts - Pesticide used (water-based) I had also mentioned that I had sprayed the area where the wasps were entering the siding, at night for several days with no effect. She also mentioned that immediately following the application, wasps may continue to swarm, for up to 14 days, but will diminish over time. If not, I should re-contact the company, as they guarantee their work. Exterminator, Sol Suong, reiterated this when he came to spray the nest. The exterminator came out to my home the same day the initial call was made. Incidentally, I reported this as a swarm of hornets, but the person I spoke to on the phone, characterized it as a yellow jacket issue. According to Sol, the size of the swarm (wasps), was bigger than expected and informed me that it would be necessary to apply a larger quantity of pesticide, in order to eradicate the nest. Following the application of the pesticide, wasp activity remained relatively high for the next couple of days and then dropped dramatically, perhaps due to the cooler temperature. In the week and half since the application, I have not seen any more wasps nor heard buzzing in the wall. As of this writing, I am still within the 14-day treatment period.

Thank you for your review. We try to get out as quickly as possible when stinging insects are involved. We don't want anyone hurt. They can become very aggressive as well as annoying. The technicians work hard and try their best to safely and effectively deal with these mean spirited insects. Sometimes the techs do get stung. Many times they have to get very close to the hive to do the job correctly. They are true professionals and we are grateful to all the Techs here at Richland Pest and Bee Control. We are also grateful for your business and very happy to hear of your satisfaction. Thank you so much!! Sandi

They told me to wait approx 3 weeks to see if the treatment took, or call them back as they guarantee their work. I did call back because the bees came back and they immediately sent out an exterminator today to do it again. The owner personally spoke to me when I initially called. Both the office personal and the men who came out to do the work were extremely professional and personable. I would recommend them to anyone who asks.

I HIRED help to prepare my home. I was so exhausted, I had to spend the next day in bed. So I had to reschedule. I finally called them Sept 2, because they were a "no show". The next day, Sept 3, they said they'd be there between 1pm and 7pm. At 6pm, after waiting all day, I finally called THEM! They said they had to call the owner of my apartment, who ordered the service. After the long holiday weekend, on Sept 8, they explained that they didn't show because the owner refused to pay for the service! The OWNER is the one who ORDERED the service. I've HAD with these idiots!

I am sorry the tenant feels this way.The tenant canceled the appointment when we arrived stating she was not ready for service. The tech was turned away. I contacted the tenant and set up another appointment and went over what she should do to prepare. I had given the info to the landlord who hired us but the tenant claimed she was never told. I also explained the cat would need to be treated by the groomer or vet. The tenant said she would not do that as she could not afford to. The landlord also was not returning our telephone calls for the promised charge card payment. The tenant was not feeling well. We found this out when we went out a second time to provide treatment and she again canceled. She made no mention of being ill due to preparing but told me she was exhausted as she had not slept due to the fleas biting her in bed. I then suspected she may have bed bugs and asked her what the bugs looked like. She told me they were little black specks. I told her we should inspect first as it may be bed bugs. I told her I really needed to speak to the landlord and asked her to try to reach him also. She did not have kind words for him. I spoke to the landlord who told me he was not going to pay and just wanted her to move out. He did not have kind words for her. I called her back as a courtesy and told her the landlord was not going to pay for the job and unless she did we could not do it. She became irate. I explained we can not work for free. At this point after being screamed at, I was completely uncomfortable with the whole situation. You have a landlord who actually thought we did the work as he did not realize she had turned us away twice and he was not willing to pay which means he was trying to scam us. Then you have a very high strung woman who wasted our time twice by having us come out and she did not want to pay. Last, the landlord and she both stated it was fleas and it was looking less like that was the case and more as if was bed bugs which is much more costly than doing fleas. I explained we were at an impasse and suggested she and the landlord work something out and we would opt out of being involved. She stared screaming at me. We wasted time and money paying a tech twice to go out. This woman was upset because we told her we could no longer be involved. We did our best. We can not work for free and we can not be in the middle between tenant and landlord. I think we went above and beyond just in the numerous phone calls we were involved in and made to try to resolve this matter. In addition, two wasted service calls. Richland Pest and Bee Control has been in business 35 years. We want our customers to be happy with our services. We have been trusted with the homes, businesses and school systems of the State of CT. these last 35 years with customer satisfaction which is very important to all of us at Richland Pest and Bee Control. This was a no win situation and unfortunately we were not treated fairly or in an above board manner by the parties involved. Elizabeth Wellington, Account Rep.

I was in my first floor family room and I heard loud buzzing coming from one wall. I found Richland in the Yellow Pages and gave them a call. ( I had used them before several years earlier). This was mid afternoon. The person who answered said they could have someone out between 8:30 AM and noon the next day. The technician showed up around 10:30 AM. He explained what he was going to do. He dressed in a beekeeper outfit and was able to fog in between the interior and exterior wall. It was next to a fire place so there was enough of a gap for him to work. He sprayed some dry insecticide that would work for 6 months. He found where they were getting in through the exterior and sprayed there also. He left me with information regarding the insecticides he used. I had a couple of straggler bees come into the family room in the next couple of days and then that was it.
Description of Work: I discovered that I had a hornet's nest betweeen an exterior wall and interior wall in my first floor family room. The exterminator came and remediated it the following day.

I found them in the yellow pages. They offer a 30 day guarantee of being free of the bees. An employee gave a thorough explanation of the life cycle of carpenter bees and other pertinent information. The technician was well qualified. The bees were causing damage to my home as they were boring holes on the exterior of my house. The cost for the service was high, but it needed to be done.
