+ -1 moreWe gave them a budget of 15-25K (slightly flex), and some basic needs for our master bathroom. We wanted heated floors and a two person shower. No knocking down walls or moving of fixtures, but gut everything and replace with medium range fixtures and do a quality job. Not looking for "WOW" factor, just a nice, practical room. Two designers came and spent nearly two hours asking questions about how we want to use the space and bouncing ideas around. I was excited. I expected great things. When the sit down formal consultation happened, I got surprised. They did not give me plans or blueprints, they did not give me new and inspiring ideas. They regurgitated what ideas I had suggested for the space, dolled them up a bit, and gave an estimated cost of 58 to 68 thousand dollars, give or take 10%. All that for a moderate bathroom without a tub or any major appliance. Stunned and shocked, I declined their services and requested (and promptly got) a refund.
Description of Work: This is a rather high end design and build firm in West Hartford. The way it works is you first go in for a 1 hour consultation, give them your needs, desires and budget of your project. Then they come to your home, get ideas and take measurements, and meet you again for the formal consultation. The fee for the in home consultation was $350. ($25000)
