I was referred to Woodchuck tree service by a friend. I found the responsiveness pretty bad at first when trying to set up a time to get an estimate but I was told by my friend that their price was unbeatable so I was ok with it...at first. Once the guy came to give me an estimate, it was true, the price was unbeatable and we scheduled for about a month and a half out for December of 2020, but never set an actual date. So as December came I reached out to try to finalize a date, and when they FINALLY got back to me, we set one that was tentative to any possible snow storms. When I asked if their was a contract I should sign, he responded with, "Just pay me when the work is done" for the price we agreed on. As the date approached there in fact was snow so we had to push it out again, and again at least one more time. My wife had been pushing me to get the insurance info, since they would be using a crane directly over our house because we had "massive" white pines. The response was always something along the lines of, "the insurance company will reach out to you a few days before the work is going to be performed", and "don't worry, we will take care of you guys". The day before the work was supposed to be done, still with no insurance papers to look over, I get a text that the guy's "Skidsteer" blew a motor and it would be just a couple days till he could get it fixed and get my trees done. It has been 2 months since hearing a word from CHARLES from Woodchuck Tree Service, and my wife and I would be willing to bet it is because they are not a legitimate business. Most of our problems came when we started asking pointed questions about the insurance and coverage to protect our home and finances. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE. It seems prices like theirs really are to good to be true.
