John was personally referred to me by a friend in the area. Although I do not have the equipment to measure exhaust gas or flue draft, I have always performed my own oil burner maintenance. I hired John this time because I am selling my house and needed to have a qualified professional perform the oil burner service before closing. I left him a phone message on Monday and promptly received a response. We worked together to determine a mutually convenient time for the service. I arrived at the house yesterday and found John and his assistant there waiting for me. They were courteous and immediately began work. I requested that the old parts be left in a bucket and they were fine with that. They were tidy about the cleaning, using a professional soot vacuum that effectively captured all of the dust and odor from the boiler while they were brushing it out. While changing the filter, strainer and nozzle, they captured all of the oil and they attended to some other minor issues with the oil burner and fuel feed assembly that they noticed. They adjusted the draft controller and then used a modern digital exhaust gas monitor to adjust the air supply to the burner to provide proper combustion. They noted to me some possible issues with the quality of the oil I was receiving, but I wasn't terribly alarmed because I knew that I had left the tank nearly empty all summer which is a surefire way to accumulate a good amount of condensate in the bottom. All in all, I feel that John Carragan provided excellent service in a timely fashion, and showed me that he is acting in my best interest. He was not the best price that I received but he made up for it in his responsiveness. The other party beat his price by about $30 but they did not return repeated phone calls requesting an appointment. John was the complete opposite to that, and I am happy that the service was carried out so quickly.

John Carragan installed the AC/Heating ducting in the wrong location and would not return to my home to fix it. He was contracted by Sprain Brook Company (Todd Woodward) who admitted the mistake however, would also not take responsibility for it. Instead of putting the ducting through the wall in an area that did not have traffic, he ran his ducting THROUGH A DOORWAY and rendered that doorway unusable. If you try to walk through the door, you will hit your head on the duct! Carragan was lazy and wanted to take the easy way out, which is why he ran the ducting in this manner. Todd Woodward, the general contractor from Sprain Brook Company, decided not to be at my home when the work is done and would not accept responsibility for Carragan's shoddy work. In addition, Carragan drained my A/C system of its Freon when that did not need to be done. He then wanted to charge me to put the Freon back into the system (I hired a more reputable company to finish that part of the job). Since this is a weekend house that is 75 miles from my primary home, I was not there to see the work until Carragan left the premises. Both Woodward and Carragan are terrible professionals and I would avoid using their services if you are looking to do work on your home in Connecticut.
Description of Work: Provider was to extend current central A/C ducting and unit to accommodate house addition.
