The one glaring problem I wanted addressed was ignored . Owner not on site or involved. All he cares about is money. Subs all the work out .

When I initially hired this firm Tom Garbati said he could fix the leak. When his crew replaced shingles near the leak and it was not the problem he sent one guy back that was supposed to be best at finding leaks. When that didn't work Tom claimed he could not fix some one else's mistakes and would not send any other guy to fix it. He then said he could not guarantee it unless he redid the whole roof and I paid him for it. This is not the condition under which I hired him. He said he could fix it and that is what I paid him money to do. He did not do it.

Thomas Garbati Builders ROCK!!! Great crew...fast and efficient (6 hrs from start to finish); polite and respectful. Clean up so complete you'd never know they were here - except for the new roof of course. All at a very reasonable price (Special thanks to Marco for evicting the birds and blocking their return.)

I have a 2 story 2000 sq ft home with attached garage. They showed up in the morning (as they said they would), removed the old shingles, replaced part of the wood underneath and flashing on the chimney, installed the new shingles, and cleaned up everything. All done in one day. Then entire process (requesting a quote and having the work done) took no more than 10 days. Very pleased. Would definitely recommend them.

We are very happy with the work done by Tom Garbati and his crew. We contacted five contractors to quote the work. Tom was the only person who recommended insulating the house because were stripping all the siding off. He told us he highly recommended insulating because the 3/4" foam under the new siding would not provide the R value we were looking for. Most of the other contractors said the 3/4" foam would provide the R value. Tom had the siding and window rep come out to our house to go over the color choices and the products he would be using. All of the work was completed on schedule and on with in budget. It has been a year since the work was done and everything has held up and still looks great. We have seen a approximately 25% reduction in heating oil use compared to the previous year. Our home felt like a new place. No drafts on windy days, no chill in the air. Since this project has been completed we have contacted Tom for more work at our house and the in laws home. He has completed the work at the in laws and that project went just as smooth as ours. We would highly recommend hiring Tom. Here are a few other comments on working with Tom: Always gets back to me when I have questions, even if he already answered them. His crew was always were at the house when they said they would. His crew was very respectful while working in and around our home. My wife was home with a two month old baby and his crew was mindful that the baby might be sleeping or feeding at anytime. They cleaned up each day and at the end of the project.

We were told that the windows were coming from a very well known provider; they ended up coming from somewhere else. When the new windows were put in, no proper insulation was put in around them, so there's always a draft coming in. When the siding was put on the house, no insulation was put on first so the house is not airtight. The outside front door was put in incorrectly, so it doesn't open properly...contacted Mr Garbati about this, he came out and said he would be back at a different time to fix it and we never heard from him again. The windows leak in so much cold air, it's ridiculous. Mr Garbati and the window rep from the no name company came out and said they didn't feel there was any problem with them, so that was never fixed. The slider that was put in wasn't put in properly..instead of the bottom of the door being somewhat flush with the floor, it sticks up about 3-4 inches, so when you go thru the door, you really have to lift up your feet or else you'll trip and fall flat on your face. That too, was "reviewed" by Mr Garbati and he felt these complaints were not justified. When things were discussed with Mr Garbati prior to building, he never took any notes down, so he either forgot things and said he was never told about them or he would do something completely different. Overall this was a very bad experience and I would NEVER recommend him to anyone at all! This was a lot of money to invest and I feel as if we didn't come anywhere close to getting our money's worth!

This last part proved to be far more work than he had anticipated but he stayed true to his estimate and did a very nice job. I would hire them again. Roofing is always more expensive than you want it to be, but Tom was in the ballpark with the other estimates we got and his work is flawless.
