Description of Work: They cut down 2 trees in my yard, one a large maple and another a small cedar. We had them cut wood up in sections and leave it to be donated to the local Boy Scouts for firewood. The chunks they cut the maple tree into were too large to be moved, despite the fact that contract stated 16-18 inch lengths but they were longer. When I asked them to cut them into smaller pieces, I was told they could not do so because they had already broken 2 saw blades. Other than that, work was done quickly and professionally and they cleaned up adequately.

1. We bought a professional tree staking kit (rope, pads and stakes) to hold the tree until they finally came a month later (November). They did use a truck to try to get the tree straight, and secured it with our rope and pads, but substituted some simple wood pieces for stakes that did not hold. Unfortunately we did not know they wouldn't hold, and paid them $250. Within weeks we noticed the tree falling more and more and continuously tried to contact them, but they refused to answer the phone. Finallly I got though (by mistake I guess) and they refused to come back, claiming the weather (one of the mildest Novembers we've ever had) prevented them from correcting it. After continuing to beg them in voice mails pre-winter to early summer, they claimed they came back the next July(?), but the tree looked even more crooked (about 25-30 degrees slant). To summarize, we lost our money and our window to straighten the tree because of their ineptness. 2. After some discussion on the phone before hiring them, they convinced me that they were certified arborists and knew how to properly trim/prune pear trees. I have since learned that the title and quot;certifiedand quot; arborist doesn't mean much. As we had discussed, pear trees have a leading center branch that should not be cut, and any and quot;expertand quot; arborist should have known. Yes, they simply and quot;toppedand quot; my trees when I was on travel (despite me asking them to do it in my presence) and charged me $300 to do so! They maintained that this was the proper way to prune them, and quot;depending on what you are trying to doand quot;! It has caused so many problems with my Neighbors, the Town Development planners and Tree Warden, to the point that I will probably have to replace the trees!
Description of Work: They were supposed to 1. straighten/prop-up a medium sized ($400) pear tree that tilted about 15-20 degrees after Hurricane Sandy, and 2. professionally trim/prune 3 very small ($100) pear trees.

Two days before the crew started the work the manager, Steve, walked his head crewman through the job marking the trees that need cutting. The day of the job they were running a 15 minutes late, but called to let me know. There was a crew of 4. They protected my lawn from the weight of the hydraulic truck by placing down boards. The team worked efficiently and cleaned up well. The lead crewman asked me to inspect and make sure I was happy with the work. I will be calling them again to remove a branch from one of my trees that extends into my neighbor's yard. It was too involved to be added into my service that day. Please note, i did not request stump removal so the price does not include removing the stumps of the cut trees.
Description of Work: Cut large Oak branch that was split due to storm damage; Removed large hanger branch that fell from the tree; Cut down a dead Spruce, several small Sassafras and two mature Sassafras trees that were growing into garage; trimmed back and/or removed several Spruce branches that were taking over the driveway and growing across garage roof; Cut down a couple of Oak limbs.

I called Allied Tree experts to come out to our home and give us an estimate on having several trees taken down. Steve called back right away and set up a time where he could meet us and discuss what we wanted to achieve. I was immediately taken by how friendly and accommodating he was. He walked all around the property looking at the various trees we had in mind and offered his expertise as to whether we really needed to remove them or could try to save them. Steve really had the ability to listen to what we wanted and did not try to convince us to do work we did not want to have done. I called Steve back in a week to let him know he ahd the job and he said they would be there next week and would call the night before he was scheduled to do the work. I received a phone call the night before and Steve and his crew arrived at 7:30 the next morning. When I returned home from work that afternoon I was blown away by the transformation made by the tree removal at our home. It looked wonderful and even better than we had expected. That evening we called Steve and expressed that perhaps we would like to save another of the proposed trees that was supposed to be taken down and instead just wanted the branches raised. He came out the next morning at 8:00 before they started their work for the second day and discussed with us what we wanted to change. He was very honest and helpful and said he would do what ever we wanted with the tree and agreed that we could actually save it and still have it look right. His crew finished by 1:00 that afternoon. Steve arrived at 2:00 and we were able to settle the bill at that time. Steve was actually willing to lower the original estimate as he ended up not taking as much time as he originally thought. We did not request this deduction he just offered it. The entire experience with Allied Tree Experts was outstanding!!!! I would definitely hire them again and would give them our highest recommendation. Super Job!!!!
Description of Work: Steve and his crew came on June 15th and June 16th and removed several trees at our property in Groton. They also raised the branches on several trees and thinned out and shaped them as well. They removed all wood and branches from the property as well.

I am a repeat customer of Allied Tree Experts. First I had them trim branches overhanging my driveway from my neighbors trees and branches from a large maple hanging over my roof and filling up my gutters. The second time I had them cut a tree that fell from my neighbors house onto my yard and fence. Both times we had a wonderful experience and so when I needed more tree work done I did not hesitate to call them again. I called on a Friday afternoon to have them come and quote me a price. We set an appointment for Monday evening and Steve David, owner, showed up promptly for the appointment. He examined the tree (which had split in a storm) and stated that the tree was not saveable - it split too far down and eventually would die. We agreed that the tree should come down and I wanted the stump removed as it is in the middle of the yard. He offered to grind down 2 other stumps in the yard since he would have the equipment there at my house. We agreed on $675 to have the tree removed, all of the branches taken away, wood cut into convenient lengths for a neighbor who wanted it for his woodstove, and three stumps removed. Steve said he would be back within the week to take it down as he was working in the Waterford area. The crew showed up the very next morning (in the rain) and took down the tree, cut and stacked the wood neatly on the side of my house and removed all of the branches and sticks. The yard was raked and every last twig was gone. All in all it was a great experience. I highly recommend them to anyone. The whole crew is incredibly polite and respectful. They take pride in thier work - and they should!
Description of Work: I had a large maple tree cut down and 3 stumps removed.
