M and J roofing did an excellent job. Workers were professional and came on time. The job was completed in two days and everything was cleaned up and the roof looks beautiful. They did just what they promised.

Jason promptly responded to the price quote request and was well prepared for our visit. His price was the best of the group. He quickly scheduled the work to be performed and arrived when scheduled. The work took as long as proposed, no surprises there. He informed us of major chimney problems that he discovered during the roof replacement and replaced the chimney as part of the job. Crew was professional, courtesy. Work was done promptly and clean up was thorough.

Jason came out and gave us a bid on the job, explaining everything that needed to be done. A few days later his crew came out to do the chimneys and the day after that another crew came to do the roof. Both crews were very hard working, respectful and quiet. Each day their work debris was cleaned up - they even hosed off the plants, etc., because of the dust. I would definitely recommend this company.

Jason was very prompt when I called to get an estimate for the repair. Likewise, he and his crew were prompt in scheduling and doing the repair. They were complete and thorough and finished in 1.5 hours. The roof looks like new.

Jason answered our call and came to give us an estimate quickly. After measuring the roof, he gave us his estimate which was lower than 2 other estimates we had received. Our roof was done in one day. The crew arrived at the stated time and worked very efficiently the whole day. They were careful not to disrupt the plantings around the house and cleaned up the yard when they were finished. They brought everything they needed with them and have streamlined the roofing process so it goes quickly and effectively. We are very satisfied with the results and dealing with M&J was a pleasure. The labor has a 5 year warranty.

I specifically called M&J Roofing because of the high number of positive ratings on Angie's List. I called them on a Sunday and to my pleasant surprise they answered and agreed to come out to give an estimate early the following week. We made an appt and I forget the exact time but it was something like 3.00p on the Tuesday. Well that Tuesday it was raining a bit and I wondered if they would call to reschedule, they did not. Then a little after 3.00p when they were supposed to be at my house I got a call from the guy saying it was raining and could we reschedule (lost points on punctuality and professionalism here). I had specifically stayed home from work for this appt so I told them that I was counting on him to come out today, so he came out and were at my house by around 3.45. He took a look at the roof, were pretty professional, gave me 2 options: a quick fix (essentially resealing around all the seams) that may work for $150 or a total redo of that roof (it's a small roof of an addition) for $1,800 or so. He also said if I went for the resealing didn't work they'd credit that $150 toward the more expensive option. The guy said he would call me next week about when he could come back for the repair and I never heard back from them. The feeling I got was that this was a small repair and easily forgotten. If this was a $10,000 roof job I doubt they would have forgotten to call me back. The complete lack of followup deserved an F in my book. Now there were several really positive reviews for this company so maybe this was just an off day for them. Regardless I was highly dissatisfied with the lack of followup.

After heavy rain we found that our amateur efforts to seal the chimney were insufficient. Called several companies listed with Angie's list for this service. We selected M & J because Jason's thorough explanation of the cause of the problem and recommended solution gave us confidence that the eventual buyer for the house would not have any complaint about the chimney (house is on the market)! The job was done within less than a week of the initial estimate. Final cost was exactly as quoted in the estimate. We were impressed with the careful masonry work and pleased with the effort that went into wrapping up the project quickly!

We purchase an 80 year old home about a year ago. After the last storm we noticed some stains on the kitchen ceiling that resulted from a roof leak. We called M&J. Jason came out and quickly identified the problem and provided a quote. We subsequently scheduled the repair. Jason's brother, Louie, arrived at the agreed time and had the job completed in less than an hour. It is a pleasure doing business with these brothers. We will use them again.

M&J is an old fashioned family-owned business. One brother (Jason) responded promptly to our request for a quote, came to our house and instantly gave us a quote that explained clearly what work would be done, how long it would take, and when it would get done. They planned to complete the job in 2 1/2 days, but because of the threat of rain, they worked longer days and completed the job in 2 days. Another brother (Louis) worked with the crew (6 men) who worked intently and professionally to do a quality job very efficiently. The crew was very respectful of our property and cleaned up thoroughly. They even used a magnetic device to pick up any stray nails in the lawn. Jason, Louie, and the rest of the crew were personable professionals who clearly take pride in their work. The new roof has added a freshness to the house, given us added protection from the elements, and increased energy efficiency. We are more than pleased with the work of M&J and enthusiastically recommend them. Plus they charged the lowest prince of three contractors who bid on the job.

It went great. They arrived and within an hour had the old roof off. Roof looks great and they cleaned up everything.

Our chimney was leaking, and Jason came out to give us an estimate for repairs. He was very straight forward and honest. He came ready with license and insurance, but found the problem was just unsealed joints and told me how to make the repairs myself.

What sets M&J roofing from the rest of the companies I interviewed was their professional. Jason is very easy to work with. On our first meeting, he presented me with an estimate. He later brought over an estimate with a thorough description of the scope of work. Their work was very well done. The site was cleaned right after the job. I would definitely use this company again in the future!

After freshly painting a ceiling, I noticed water stains. After an exploratory hole in the ceiling, we found numerous leaks in the roof. I was concerned that the roof wouldn't be able to be repaired in the winter, but when Jason came out to give me an estimate, he explained in detail what they would be able to do and gave me a very detailed written estimate. On the first dry day the crew arrived (in less than a week) and completed the work. The crew explained what they were doing as they went along and showed me other areas that were damaged (gutters and porch) and that should be repaired. They were very thorough, professional, friendly, cleaned up completely, and were delightful to work with...and the roof looks great too!

Easy to work with, punctual, cleaned up really well, and so far rain/melting snow outside - no water inside, what I like to see. Will definitely be the first call I make to get a quote for the whole roof when I do that.

I had received quotes from 5 other firms and was ready to pull the trigger when I remembered to check Angie's -- I found M&J and based on the excellent, recent reviews, I called -- The next day Jason came over and prepared an estimate that was among the best we had received -- After mulling it over for a few days, we set up a second meeting to sign the contract (10/16) -- no deposit requested -- and the work began on 11/9, took 2 full days as expected. The crew arrived about 7:30 each day and was done by about 5 -- these guys are heads down all day long with out stop except for lunch -- very pleasant and cooperative. We are very pleased with the results and the craftsmanship.

Overall we were very pleased with the job that they did. They worked on a Saturday and Sunday and except for the new gutters, they completed the job in the two days. The following Wednesday the gutter people came and added new gutters including a gutter guard mesh screen. M&J was professional, courteous, punctual, and I had confidence in the job that they did.

They were the only company that climbed up on the roof and looked at it. They did great work and I was very pleased with them. I was totally impressed. He was very straightforward. He gave me a good estimate and told me what it would include. We spoke several times about the scheduling. Finally, he called me when I was on vacation and said that he had a day. He had it done in half a day and when we arrived home from our vacation, there was no sign that they had been there, except that the roof was done. The clean-up was immaculate. I don't know that much about the price of roof jobs, but they all were in the same range. I would use them without any hesitation if I needed to. I called 5 people, and 4 people called me back. A couple of other companies just went upstairs and looked out the window. Another guy sat up on the rail of the tack and looked at it. He just wanted to know how much the other guy quoted me and he quoted me the same thing.

Talked to Jason, who runs the business. They use sensible business measures to keep costs down and share the savings with their customers. So a lower bid does not translate into an inferior job. Just the opposite. The shingling was fine and they did a few helpful things, like adding vents, not considered in the other bids.

I work for one of the largest contractors in the country, so when it came to putting a roof over my family's head I took getting prepared for the work very seriously. I budgeted the project with eight separate roofing contractors over a period of two weeks and worked particularly hard to make sure all eight were "apples-to-apples" in terms of price, schedule and quality. When Jason first arrived to look at the job he was professional and thorough. He measured up the roof, described his approach to the work, and gave us a written estimate before he left. Later, he displayed flexibility in negotiating terms and scope over the phone, and was one of the most responsive of the eight roofers we talked to. Within a week-and-a-half after we agreed on a final price Jason arrived with his mason and a helper, the two of whom rebuilt our chimney and temporarily flashed it into the old roof to keep it weather-tight (Here's an important difference in why we hired M&J: They do their own masonry work. That way there is no chance of a "blame-game" between a mason and a roofer hired separately if a problem were to have developed. Jason's willingness, in fact desire, to take on that risk set M&J apart from their competition). Within a week following the chimney rebuild Jason and his brother Louis arrived with the whole crew. I judged them to be very competent, well equipped and productive in their work which took less than one-and-a-half days from start to finish. Jason and Louis also insisted on waiting until the work was done and accepted by us before receiving any payment. Overall they did an exceptional job and I would give M&J Roofing my highest recommendation.

Jason arrived on time, did everything that was listed in the contract and cleaned up everything at the end. If you have a similar problem, Jason is the right person for the job.

They had the best price of the three roofers I got from Angies list. They started the week they said they would. They showed up with a large crew and did the entire job in 2.5 days working till after 6 one day. They cleaned up after each day with a truck, no dumpster in the driveway. They replaced step flashing when they found they couldn't reuse the old. They gave me some time to insulate over two areas that can only be accessed through the roof. Our house is a 100 year old victorian with very steep roofs. They protected the shrubs and did a fantastic clean up. I would highly recommend

We contacted M & J Roofing based upon the company's rating on Angie's List. We also requested 3 other estimates for the project, one of which was also on Angie's List. I was please by the fact that the first time I called M & J, Jason answered the phone. No voice mail, or waiting several days for someone to back. It was reassuring to know that I could begin the process of obtaining bids by talking with a real person from the 'get go'. Jason indicated that he would go to the house two days later and call me with his assessment. (I am at our camp in Maine; so he had to conduct business in a less than easy way) He DID calll me two days later to discuss, in detail, what he felt needed to be done. He gave me his price over the phone and followed it up with a thorough written estimate that HE delivered to my husband who was at work in Hartford. From all observations, Jason presented as completely professional ! On the two occasions I needed to call him, he ALWAYS answered the phone. He ALWAYS called me when he said he would. (That's so important!!!) Despite the inclement weather that we have had this spring and summer, he was able to replace our roof within 2 1/2 weeks after initial contact. Upon final inspection of our property: We found ONE nail. Hard to believe, but it's true!!!! It truly was a job well done. We also found that he shingled the roof of our garden shed. (We never even discussed that). I can't tell you how pleased we are and how great the new roof looks!!! His price, BTW, was $4,000 less than the highest estimate. Don't know how he does it, but he is worth contacting if you need a new roof!!!!!

This contractor is very competent. Take his suggestions.

When I contacted M & J for an estimate I was scheduled right away. Upon arrival Jason introduced himself and showed me his currant licence and insurance. He took his time checking out the job and explained exactly what he would do and gave me a written estimate. Once I decided to hire M & J, I was contacted within a week and scheduled for the job. They showed up when they said they would, and completed all of the work the same day. They did a great job on the roof and cleaned up everything when they were finished. I was very impressed.
