Jason arrived precisely on time, did the inspections quickly, gave us a detailed evaluation of the roof and because it needs to be repaired, a very fair estimate for a new roof for the garage. He also did a fast patch on the garage roof which is holding well No breaches. I am very impressed with M&J and the quality of their work and approach, which is not aggressive or about "selling". They're professionals. They tell you what needs doing. We didn't have the money to do the job then but when we do, they will be the ones to do the job. It's such a pleasure to find contractors that are really good at what they do. :)

It took a few days before they could come for an estimate, but he was on-time and answered all my questions. Before he left I knew exactly what was going to be done (step by step) and even estimated other possible work to be done (gutters). He gave me a target date of a week when they could do the work (with about 6-7 workers) in 1 day. When the date was coming close, he called and stated that due to inclement weather the date was to be pushed out a couple of weeks. Thankfully, those weeks were pretty dry. When the date finally arrived, they showed up a little early (7:30am) but with only 3 people. This was due to try to appease another client who was restless . . . so they split their workers up. So this would also mean it would take 2 days, instead of 1 day. They immediately began to setup (including setting up tarps below working area covering bushes etc) , and strip the old shingles off the bigger roof. By lunch time the one side of the roof was stripped and the 6 foot of ice barrier by the gutters, tar paper, starter shingles, new boot for vent pipe, drip edging on all edges, and shingles completed ! After lunch, they did the same to the other side of the roof, which included the new flashing for the chimney. So by 4pm they had completed the main big roof. The next day they came at 8am, and did the same for the smaller 2nd roof. Then they did a complete cleanup all around the house, including using a big rolling magnet to pickup any loose nails. They had packed up their tools, etc and work completed by 3pm. Very professional and complete work.

Although this company's website says "From gutters to repairs, countless customers have relied on us, and we have always delivered" and their description on Angie's list says "chimney rebuild or re flashing" when I called them about a leak in my roof around the chimney, they told me that they do not do that kind of work or other roof repairs and only replace whole roofs. They told me I should call someone else. Too bad for them.

I contacted them for a repair on a relatively new roof, and after about a week I got a call from them saying they only do complete roof replacements. Why is this not clearly stated on their site and/or listing? I asked them for a recommendation of someone who could do the work. They said they didn't know anyone. What??? Unprofessional waste of time!

We received M&J Roofing information from a family member who used them for a roof replacement a few months ago. Their rave reviews of this company made us place that first call for an estimate. Jason answered our call and came out to provide an estimate in a matter of days. The estimate was extremely reasonable ... the best we had received up until that time. When we were ready to schedule our roof replacement, Jason promptly scheduled us for his next available date. Our roof replacement also involved an insurance claim, and Jason spoke willingly to our insurance agent so that he could better understand what needed to be done and why. Also, every single time I called Jason, he answered the phone. I never went into a voice mail system and never had to press a bunch of buttons to speak with a live person. Jason and his crew arrived at the exact time they stated they would, and literally not one minute later. They quickly and neatly set up their equipment and within what seemed like only a few minutes they were on the roof beginning the job. They were polite, courteous, and respectful of us and our property the entire time they were here. They kept the job neat and cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend M&J Roofing to anyone in need of their services!

We called MJ Roofing because of the excellent reviews on Angie's list. Jason came out and gave us an estimate. He was very straightforward, explained everything, and answered all of our questions. We did some checking and had one other individual give us a price. For quality and pricing, MJ Roofing was the clear choice. While Jason said the job would be done by early or mid-November, it was understandably delayed by the early season snowstorm. I became concerned MJ Roofing would want to come on their schedule and I didn't want the roof put on when there was a chance of rain, the weather was freezing all day, or there was snow on the ground. When I called Jason he apologized for the delay and promised to have the job done the following week ---weather permitting. (He also offered the option of delaying the work until the spring.) Jason was there early in the morning to get his crew started and they did a great job, worked hard all day and were very professional. They finished up the following day and cleaned up nicely. We were impressed with MJ Roofing and had a first class experience. It's easy to understand why this company has so many outstanding reviews. Definitely recommended.

The project went well from start to finish. All very professional. Would definitely use again.

I was honestly shocked at the disparity between the reports on this site, and the experience. He was perfectly polite, prompt, etc... but something fishy here.

They did a fabulous job, and they were neat and careful. We have recommended them to others, and we would definitely use them again.

All I need to say isin the previous statement

First of all he answered the phone when we called him. We had trouble with people not even answering their phones. He set an appointment and he was here when he was supposed to be here, he was early. He gave us the estimate. We decided to go with them and we called him back. He came back when he said he was coming back to sign the contract. He came out and did the roof when he said he was going to and everything was just beautiful. I don’t think he could have done any better than he did. We were very satisfied with him both as a person and as a contractor. We will use him in the future.

Obviously not well, as they never showed up.

We feel that M&J Roofing LLC did a fantastic job on our house! They lived up to our faith in them, and to every single review that we read! Above and Beyond! To begin with, they arrived exactly at 8:00 a.m. as promised last Sunday, 5 crew members, with Lou as crew chief. The team began work immediately, and finished at 6:00 pm, just as it was turning dark. They first put tarps around the entire house to protect the bushes and catch all the shingles they took off. They stripped the roof, and identified and replaced the wood in several areas where the leaking had caused the wood to rot. The new shingles were put down and the ridge vents installed. Although we offered beverages several times during the day, they politely preferred to keep busy at the task at hand. They took ½ hour lunch break, and went right back to work immediately. Jason came by in the afternoon and spent some time here, along with two additional workers. Lou was an excellent crew leader. When the new shingles were just beginning to be placed on the roof, he was as pleased as we were with the color. He knew we were a little anxious since the shade/color of a 2?x4? sample could look quite different on an entire roof! With Jason and Lou?s guidance, we had chosen our color well. Lou assured us that our new roof, when completed would be ?perfect?. As the work on the roof and the day progressed, we all recognized that our gutters and downspouts were pretty shabby and old, and only then did Lou suggest replacing them. After giving us an estimate, we decided to have them installed and Jason scheduled this additional work for the very next morning. All the crew at M&J were very professional, and knew exactly what they were doing ? working as a team and taking great pride to ensure that their workmanship was of the highest quality. Jason and Lou also took care of a couple of special requests ? to install a chimney cap we had previously purchased while the team was on the roof, and to replace a side board that had also had water damage. These were done without question and with such generosity at no additional charge. Once all the work was completed, the entire yard was cleaned up immaculately, and the dump truck containing all the shingles and debris was driven away. The crew actually used flash lights to be sure they didn?t miss anything left on our lawn. At 8:30 a.m. Monday morning, a 3 man crew arrived to replace all the gutters and downspouts and install screens on the gutters. By 10:00 a.m. everything was finished and cleaned up. We have received rave reviews from our neighbors and friends. The new roof is just absolutely beautiful! Some of our neighbors who saw the crew working so diligently used words like ?awesome? and unbelievable? to describe their work ethic. We would strongly recommend M&J Roofing LLC to anyone with roofing needs. Jason, Lou and their crew provided us with a new roof, gutters, and particularly for us, a pride once more in the appearance and safety of our home. The transformation was amazing! Jason and Lou are trustworthy and honest gentlemen. They treated our family with respect and, as we noticed, they were just as respectful of their crew. Kudos! It was a great experience. The entire job took only two work days. One day to rebuild the chimney and day to replace the roof. Also, the property was left cleaner than it was before the job started. Overall, we were satisfied with everything about the job, from the quote to the actual work done. We've gotten many compliments from our neighbors.

Sometimes the way to judge a company is how it deals with a problem. We had a problem a year after the reroof. Our roof was checked by a building inspector for a couple interested in buying our house. It was determined that some shingles had lost granules in a few locations. I'm not sure of the cause of this problem, but the buyer refused to buy until the it was fixed. I thought I'd have to file a warranty claim with GAF [a lengthy process], but Jason came to the house on a Sunday and fixed the problem by replacing several shingles. The roof was re-inspected one day before the closing and the sale went thru.

The crew showed up on time, went immediately to work. All details were explained to me, including photos of the rotted wood. They worked all day and finished by 5:30. They were very skilled and the job looks great.

I work in property insurance so I was very careful about choosing a roofer. I know that bad workmanship can show up years down the road and cause problems (and repairing the problems is not covered by insurance!) I called M&J based on the reviews on Angie's List and I was not disappointed. They are the first contractor I've ever had to bring proof of insurance with them just to give a quote. Their prices were more than reasonable and I found them to be highly honest and ethical. They were prompt, left my property spotless, and did beautiful work. Because of my job, I was very interested in the process as the roof was getting replaced and Louie was very accommodating - he even took my camera up to the roof to take pictures for me. And he took some pictures to show me where I had some mortar starting to fail in my chimney, giving me a heads up to get that taken care of soon before it becomes a problem. Hurricane Irene came throught three days later and my roof is just fine! And I knew if anything went wrong that this company would be there. It's hard to express, but they are simply straightforward, honest, and hardworking people. It's clear how much pride they put into their work. One of my neighbors also got their roof done recently. They have a smaller roof than ours and it took 3+ days for it to be done. My husband noted there were only two guys working on it and most often they were seen talking on the phone. In contrast, M&J scheduled five workers for my job and was done in under 8 hours (and that was with a lunch break.) They were all about the work - even when I asked if they wanted some water, they were appreciative, but wanted to wait until they got more work done. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I found M&J Roofing on Angie's List. I called 4 companies, and M&J was the first to respond. Jason came to our house and took his time inspecting our roof and explaining what his services would involve. He gave us a detailed quote before he left. All the other companies either came to our house when we weren't home and/or e-mailed or mailed quotes to us. The work was done in one day (the Monday after Hurricane Irene!) and then final cleanup was done a few days later in less than an hour. Jason's brother and dad were also on site part of the time the work was done, and we could see that the family takes great pride in their work. Their crew was polite and professional. We have a 4-bedroom colonial, and the old roof had to come off, and we also had to have 2 skylights replaced. It went great. I first called Jason when I needed the roof tarped after the tree fell on it, and he was out there immediately to tarp it. He waited patiently while I dealt with the insurance company, then came and repaired the roof and replaced the gutter and downspout. While he was there I asked him to look at a problem unrelated to the tree - I saw some leaking around where the chimney was, and wondered if it needed reflashing. Well, I needed to have the entire chimney rebuilt. He did a great job with that, too.

Jason provided us with an estimate within one day of our phone call to his company. We signed a contract with them about a week later, with a 5% discount as advertised. The date was set for the work to begin and within 3 days they were finished with two chimneys and roof. We did not like the first blue stone top of chimney they used (thinner than we wanted) and Jason willingly replaced the blue stone with another more to our liking. M & J Roofing LLC represents the kind of craftsmanship and professionalism everyone wants in a contractor of any kind. We highly recommend them.

I was very pleased with them. I plan on passing this company's information to my sons if they have any roof issues.

First of all, I found M & J on Angie's List after seeing the great reviews. Initially, I called Jason at the beginning of July about chimney work having seen his services under chimney repair. We got up on the roof, and he assessed what was necessary to repair the chimney. (I had 3 other quotes and they all felt the chimney had to be totally rebuilt). I mentioned that I was also having the roof done, and he said they did roofs as well, and would give me a great price on the total package. He did, and I signed and agreement to have them do the work. He gave me a starting week in August. About 10 days prior the week, Jason gave me the exact date to when they were to start, and he was right on. The trucks and crew rolled in and all h*** broke loose for 2 days. The workers were efficient and tireless. Plus, they were respectful of the property and the fact that people were living underneath them. Plants and shrubs were protected. The chimney had to be done before that area was shingled, so basically, these guys had the whole roof peeled, and 2/3 of the 3,000 sq. ft. roof shingled the first day. The next day, they were on time and the chimney was finished early, and the rest of the roof by about 4:00 p.m.. They cleaned the grounds so well that one would have never known that they were there. Although Jason was in and out with business, Louie was the main man running the job. Great guy. This is my first review on Angie's List, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. M & J will be coming back to do gutters. Louie even lent me a scaffolding plank so I could easily paint the underside of where the gutter had come off.

I called them because I thought I had a roof leak. They came over and after a visual inspection told me that I actually needed a siding/gutter person. I was impressed with the professionalism and when I need a roof they will be first on my list.

We found M and J Roofing on Angies list. We learned afterward that this company replaced the roof on the house next door. We watched that roof go on and wished we knew who had installed it. We commented at the time (about five years ago) on the great job they did. We found it a lucky coincidence that they were the first company we called. Louie and his crew arrived on time and started right to work. They were like a well oiled machine once they got up on the roof. The crew was hard-working, polite and very professional. By 5:30 pm they were cleaning up, which they did thoroughly. The following day the gutter crew arrived and completed the work. Jason and his co-workers were a pleasure to work with and we would recommend them .
